Main duties of the job
As a Care Assistant / Care Worker, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, hands-on personal care to our residents, including:
- Person-Centred Care Delivery: Delivering daily hands-on personal care and hygiene support in strict alignment with residents' care plans and individual choices.
- Day-to-Day Monitoring: Continually monitoring residents' physical and mental wellbeing during your shift, and promptly escalating any changes in condition or concerns to the senior team.
- Medication Support: Assisting and supporting the Nurse-in-Charge with safe medication management only when specifically trained, authorised, and asked to do so under their direct clinical supervision.
- Digital Documentation: Completing and maintaining accurate, immediate records of all care delivery, daily observations, and fluid/nutrition logs within the Nourish system.
- Supporting a Calm Environment: Actively contributing to a safe, calm, and respectful environment across the home, promoting meaningful social engagement and resident choices.
- Collaborative Teamwork: Working closely with the wider Ingleborough team to uphold the homes high standards of care, family-like community, and resident dignity.

Job Summary
To provide hands-on personal care to residents in accordance with their assessed needs, ensuring their comfort and dignity are maintained to a high standard. Working as part of the care team, you will assist in supporting the physical wellbeing of our residents and actively contribute to the day-to-day life and activities within the home.
Key Responsibilities
Physical Care, Wellbeing & Support
- Personal Care Helping residents with all personal care and hygiene needs including washing, showering, bathing, getting dressed, and assisting with all nutritional requirements.
- Mobility Support Supporting residents with mobilising and transferring using appropriate equipment, encouragement, and supervision as specified in care plans.
- Positioning Assisting residents to change positions safely when unable to do so themselves, using the correct specified equipment.
- Meal Service Serving meals, setting up dining spaces, and providing focused assistance to residents at mealtimes when needed.
- Responsiveness Promptly answering call bells and responding compassionately to individual care needs.
- Medication Assistance Where appropriately trained and competent to do so, assisting and supporting the nurse in charge with safe medication management.
Social Engagement & Environment
- Activity Promotion Promoting physical and mental activity through regular chatting, sharing news, and actively supporting involvement in reading, writing, hobbies, and recreations.
- Community Access Escorting and supporting residents who wish to go out, encouraging continued community and social inclusion.
- Room Upkeep & Care Assisting residents to keep their private rooms and personal possessions tidy in strict accordance with their personal wishes.
- Domestic Care Making and changing beds, ensuring residents have everything required within their private bedrooms, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the resident's immediate environment.
- Clothing & Laundry Management Collecting and taking used linen and clothing to the laundry room, and conducting periodic checks of residents' wardrobes and drawers to ensure personal clothing is kept neat, tidy, and well-organised.
- Hospitality Welcoming and greeting visitors and guests politely at the door or telephone, maintaining the home's high standards of customer care.
Governance, Recording & Safety
- Care Planning Strictly following established individual care plans and proactively providing feedback or inputs to update them where appropriate.
- Digital Documentation Recording and reporting all essential information in the Nourish system accurately and immediately.
- Floor Escalation Promptly escalating and reporting any concerns regarding a residents care, condition, or safety to the senior team.
- Team Engagement Actively participating in all scheduled staff and residents' meetings as well as professional training activities.
- Safeguarding Keeping people safe from harm by operating in strict alignment with safeguarding policies and preventing any form of discrimination.
Safeguarding Adults / Mental Capacity Act
To complete mandatory training on Safeguarding Adults, the Mental Capacity Act (MCA), and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). Must understand and actively implement safeguarding policies and procedures, taking full responsibility for recognising vulnerabilities, practising defensively, and reporting any safeguarding concerns or untoward events immediately to the Senior Carer, Nurse-in-Charge, or Registered Manager.
