Band 7 Ward Manager / Team Leader - Postnatal Ward (St James's University Hospital) 6-Month Secondment Opportunity

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, highly motivated and inspirational midwifery leader to join our Maternity Services team as a Band 7 Ward Manager / Team Leader for the Postnatal Ward at St James's University Hospital on a 6-month secondment basis.

Postnatal care is a critical element of the maternity journey. In this vital role you will hold the responsibility for driving the daily operation of the ward including patient flow, safe staffing, and role-modelling clinical excellence on the ward. You will be a compassionate leader who champions evidence-based person-centred care.

You will empower and influence further developments in Midwifery and respond to National Maternity Transformation plans across the unit, acting as a liaison point and contributing to the continual development of maternity services. You will have a passion for developing staff and creating a learning environment in your area and demonstrate exceptional situational leadership enabling and empowering your teams.

What you will bring to the role

As a Ward Manager, you will have excellent clinical and communication skills, an ability to inspire and support staff and work in partnership with women, their relatives and the multi-disciplinary team in the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of seamless care. You will also involve other agencies and practitioners in care planning to meet complex needs of women and their babies.
