Main duties of the job

You will form part of our dedicated multi skilled clinical team providing a mix of Face to Face and telephone appointments. We have a very established GP led triage first access model that ensure the most appropriate appointment is booked 100% of the time.

You will provide Acute, routine and duty support to the practice and awill be supported by an established team of GP's Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Paramedics, Practice Nurses, HCA's, Physio therapists amongst others.

Program Snapshot:

Month One:

Engage in weekly 1-hour meetings with your designated mentor.

Manage a restricted patient list size of 100 patients per session

No lead duty doctor or eConsult sessions.

Months Two and Three:

Continue with weekly 30-minute meetings with your mentor.

Manage a slightly expanded patient list size of 150 patients per session

No lead duty doctor or eConsult sessions.

Months Four

Maintain weekly 30-minute meetings with your mentor.

Manage a slightly expanded patient list size of 200 patients per session

No lead duty doctor or eConsult sessions.

Month Five and Six:

Maintain weekly 30-minute meetings with your mentor.

Take charge of a fair share patient list (capped at BMA max of 275 patients per session).

No lead duty doctor or eConsult sessions.

After six months, youll be fully equipped to embrace our standard job description for experienced salaried GPs.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Fully qualified General Practitioner (MBBS/MBChB or equivalent)
  • Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise
  • Included on the NHS England Medical Performers List
  • MRCGP qualification (or equivalent experience where applicable)
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and appraisal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable

  • Previous experience in UK General Practice
  • Experience using EMIS Web
  • Experience using Docman
  • Knowledge of Hampshire & Isle of Wight referral pathways and local services
  • Interest in a clinical lead area (e.g. diabetes, frailty, women's health, minor surgery)
  • Experience supervising trainees, medical students or ARRS staff
  • Experience in QOF, enhanced services and population health management
  • Familiarity with PCN working and integrated care systems
