Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Radiographer experienced in Interventional Radiology to become an integral member of our Radiology team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

Our Philips Azurion interventional suite is currently based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for running and supporting the service, liaising closely with our surgical and urology colleagues to provide a safe and effective service in addition to working with our wider Radiology team within the Radiology Centre.

As part of the Trust's exciting Hospital Transformation Programme, the service will remain at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site which will become the acute hospital site. The post holder will be an integral part of the HTP project, shaping and developing the service as it transitions into its next phase.

Main duties of the job

  • This role helps lead the day-to-day running of the interventional imaging service, working closely with the Lead Superintendent Radiographer.
  • You will take an active role in patient imaging, making sure high-quality images are produced safely and to a high standard.
  • You will support, train, and develop radiographers and students, helping the team build skills and confidence.
  • You will help manage staff, equipment, and workloads so the service runs smoothly, even when things change at short notice.
  • You will make sure radiation safety rules and Trust policies are followed to keep patients, staff, and visitors safe.
  • You will show strong leadership, support service improvement, and step in for the Lead Superintendent Radiographer when needed.
About us

Our Poppy's Promise Commitment

We believe that compassionate care sits at the heart of everything we do. Every member of our team -- clinical or non-clinical -- plays a vital role in ensuring that patients, families, and colleagues are treated with dignity, empathy, and respect at all times.

We expect all staff to demonstrate compassion not only through their words, but through their actions: by listening attentively, communicating clearly and kindly, and recognising individual needs, feelings, and circumstances of those in our care.

Effective communication is central to safe and high-quality healthcare. We value colleagues who take the time to understand others, explain information in a meaningful way, and respond to concerns with patience and understanding.

By joining our team, you are committing to uphold these values -- ensuring that every patient feels heard, respected, and valued, and that compassion is embedded in every interaction, every day.
