Job summary

The Ridgeway Surgery in Harrow is seeking a salaried GP for six sessions per week on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The sessions are required on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Join a multidisciplinary team where you can contribute to patient care and help shape how we deliver our services. We are a training practice, rated Good in all areas by the CQC, with a strong focus on collaborative working, digital transformation and improving access for patients.

You will work alongside GP partners, salaried GPs, advanced clinical practitioners, pharmacists, nurses and our wider care team. This is an opportunity to bring your experience and ideas to a practice actively developing its services.

The appointment is fixed term while we review our longer-term clinical staffing needs in light of anticipated neighbourhood service developments, premises plans and our financial position. This review will inform whether future provision involves salaried GP role or a different level of clinical capacity. Extension or a permanent salaried appointment cannot be guaranteed.

Main duties of the job

You will provide high-quality general medical care across six sessions per week, working on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. These working days are required to meet the practices clinical cover needs.

Your work will include face-to-face, telephone and online consultations, managing acute presentations and ongoing conditions, alongside prevention and health promotion.

You will undertake the clinical administration associated with patient care, including reviewing results and correspondence, prescribing and making referrals, supported by our multidisciplinary team.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure safe, coordinated care, contributing to clinical discussions, safeguarding and quality improvement. We welcome your ideas for improving services and making effective use of digital tools.

The role will include home visits where clinically appropriate and opportunities to contribute to teaching and supervision, according to your experience and interests.

The Ridgeway Surgery is a GP training practice in Harrow, providing care from our main surgery and our branch at Alexandra Avenue Health and Social Care Centre. We were rated Good in all areas by the CQC in 2026.

Purpose of the role

To provide safe, effective and patient-centred general medical services, working collaboratively with the practices multidisciplinary team. The postholder will assess and manage acute and ongoing health problems, support prevention and health promotion, and contribute to the quality and development of practice services.

The six sessions must be worked on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to meet the practices clinical cover requirements.

Clinical responsibilities

Undertake face-to-face, telephone and online consultations, using clinical judgement to determine the appropriate consultation method and any need for further assessment. Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute illness and long-term conditions. Develop management plans with patients, taking account of their preferences, circumstances and clinical needs. Recognise clinical deterioration and arrange urgent assessment or escalation where appropriate. Provide clear safety-netting advice and arrange appropriate follow-up.
