Job summary

Due to retirement of our long serving Medical Secretary we are recruiting for a 20 hour per week position 1pm -5pm Monday to Friday

The successful candidate will be well organised with excellent secretarial, interpersonal and communication skills.

You will be working as a member of our small secretarial team to deliver a professional, complex and comprehensive service to our clinical colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The General Practice Medical Secretary performs a complex and rewarding job in a busy and dynamic environment. They are committed to the role and work effectively as a team.

The ideal candidate will be a team player, have excellent secretarial/audio typing skills, the ability to deal with patients in a professional and friendly manner, the ability to process complex information quickly and accurately in a busy working environment and to contribute positively to the success of the team.

About us

Marton Medical Practice is a friendly and very busy General Practice based within Whitegate Health Centre in Blackpool.

We have a full compliment of health and administrative professionals working together to promote the health and wellbeing of our patient population and that of our team.

MAIN DUTIES OF POSTHOLDER

PROFESSIONAL

To provide and maintain a high standard of administrative services for colleagues and patients in General Practice offering a helpful, friendly and confidential secretarial service

Receive telephone calls and electronic mail and take appropriate action as per practice protocols. Mail handling, preparation and distribution following practice protocols. Manage referrals via ERS. Prepare records or extracts as necessary via iGPR

Confidentiality of information gained at work must be preserved at all times. General Data Protection Regulations must be adhered to.

EDUCATIONAL

Identify personal development and training needs in conjunction with the manager.

Support others with their training and development needs.

To participate in continuing education and maintain a contemporary level of professional knowledge and skills in line with practice requirements.

PERSONNEL

Co-operation with the practice to ensure all members of the team adheres to statutory regulations/policies and codes of practice and departments safety rules.
