Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Nurse Associate to join us at a busy surgery in Rochdale. Main duties of the job

Working under the direct supervision of your Clinical Lead and alongside the Practice Nurse Team, in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Nurse Associate will assist the Practice Clinical Team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

This includes a number of clinical roles, including phlebotomy, health checks, assisting with Chronic Disease Management (LTC), minor surgery, contraception clinics, cytology and immunisations.

Job responsibilities

  • Undertake phlebotomy and obtain appropriate clinical samples.
  • Carry out NHS Health Checks and other routine health checks.
  • Undertake blood pressure checks, height, weight, BMI and other routine clinical observations.
  • Support the clinical team with Chronic Disease Management and Long-Term Condition (LTC) reviews.
  • Assist with minor surgery procedures and clinics.
  • Support the delivery of contraception and pill check clinics, within scope of practice and competency.
  • Undertake cytology, where appropriately trained and competent.
  • Administer immunisations and vaccinations in accordance with relevant training, competency and practice protocols.
  • Provide health promotion, lifestyle and preventative healthcare advice to patients.
  • Recognise changes or concerns regarding a patients condition and escalate these appropriately to a registered clinician.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records.
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
  • Ensure clinical rooms, equipment and stock are appropriately maintained and replenished.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, Practice Nurses, HCAs and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in training, competency assessments and ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all Practice policies and procedures.
