Job summary

We are looking to recruit a full-time or part-time Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive clinical team. The practice currently consists of 3 GP Partners and 3 Salaried GPs, and this opportunity has been created to replace an existing GP who is emigrating.You will be supported by a strong multidisciplinary team including 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 experienced Practice Nurses, a Nurse Associate, a Healthcare Assistant, and a Clinical Pharmacist, alongside a well-established administrative team comprising of a proactive Practice Manager, secretaries, and a care coordinator.We provide care for a growing patient population of 11,100 patients in Ryhope, on the outskirts of Sunderland. Our practice operates from a purpose-built, modern premises, that has just completed an £800k refurbishment and expansion, with excellent road links to Teesside, County Durham, and Newcastle.

Our team is committed to delivering modern, evidence-based, and safe clinical care while maintaining the values of a traditional, caring family practice.

We place strong emphasis on training and professional development, and we are proud to be a GP Training and Medical Student host practice. We are also active participants in our Primary Care Network (PCN) and local neighbourhood working initiatives.Manageable workload: around 25 clinical contacts per day

Main duties of the job

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care while complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.Effective management of long-term conditions.Processing of administration in a timely manner including referrals, lab reports, workflow documents and other administrative tasks. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjuction with good practice, policy and guidance. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload. Contribute to continuous improvement and quality initiatives. Delegated responsibility for a specific QOF area. Clinical audit. Attend and contribute clinical meetings.

Job summary:To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

1 Primary Responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

Effective management of long-term conditions

Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, lab reports, Workflow documents, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

Any private work done during the working day i.e. PMAs, medical reports, will be carried as part of normal duties and all fees received for such remain the property of the Practice

In accordance with the practice timetable, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, video consultations, telephone consultations and queries, covering urgent care duties and visiting patients at home

Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HR

Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

Prepare and complete the revalidation process

Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care

2 Secondary Responsibilities

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead

Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)
