Job summary

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Critical Care team. Applications are welcomed from all Registered Nurses; however, preference will be given to nurses with acute care experience. We particularly encourage applications from those with a background in Intensive Care, High Dependency Unit (HDU), Emergency Department, or other relevant acute clinical settings.

As part of our Level 1-3 Critical Care service, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred care to critically ill patients, utilising advanced assessment, monitoring, and clinical intervention skills. Working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will be supported within an environment that values professional development, continuous learning, innovation, and excellence in patient outcomes.

For experienced Critical Care nurses, there will be opportunities to further develop specialist expertise, contribute to service improvement initiatives, support and mentor junior colleagues, and participate in education, research, and quality improvement activities.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care, demonstrate clinical excellence, and are committed to upholding the highest standards of patient safety, professionalism, and compassionate practice.

Main duties of the job

You will deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to patients requiring Level 1, 2 and 3 critical care. Working as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised care for patients with complex and rapidly changing clinical needs. The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver safe, compassionate and effective nursing care to critically ill patients and their families.
  • Assess, monitor and respond to changing patient conditions using advanced clinical skills.
  • Care for patients requiring invasive monitoring, mechanical ventilation, renal replacement therapy and vasoactive medications.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and optimise patient care.
  • Support patients and their relatives throughout critical illness and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and professional standards.
  • Support and supervise students, nursing associates and junior colleagues as appropriate.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, audit, patient safety and service development initiatives.
  • Participate in education, training and competency programmes to develop critical care knowledge and skills.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, learning and continuous improvement.
