Job summary
Due to internal promotion we seek to recruit an experienced Neonatal Nurse.
St Helier's Neonatal Services comprise of 2 Intensive Care Unit cots, 4 High Dependency Unit cots, 8 Special Care cots, and 8 Transitional Care cots. In addition, Epsom Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) provides 6 Special Care cots. We are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for parents and families, enabling them to develop the confidence and skills to care for their babies.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles of Family Integrated Care and actively support the unit's progression towards Baby Friendly Initiative and BLISS accreditation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide effective leadership and professional development for nursing and support staff within neonatal services.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, standardised, and evidence-based care consistently across all areas.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, compassion, and excellence in neonatal care.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical care, all babies receive safe, evidence based standardised care.
- Oversee the full cycle of neonatal care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Mentor and support junior nursing staff through structured education, training, and performance reviews, fostering a culture of professional development and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including medical staff, allied health professionals, and families, to coordinate holistic and patient-centered care.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and policies, ensuring alignment with local and national standards and best practices.
- Provide compassionate emotional support and clear education to families, helping them understand their infant's condition, treatment plan, and ongoing care needs.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory and governance requirements.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating advanced expertise in neonatal resuscitation and critical care management.
