Exciting Senior Children's Occupational Therapy Opportunities in Devon!

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) are seeking experienced and motivated Senior Occupational Therapists to join the innovative Experts at Hand programme.

  • North Devon: 1.0 WTE

These posts sit within CFHD's Physical and Sensory Pathway, a well-established multidisciplinary service bringing together Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy to improve outcomes for children and young people across Devon.

Successful applicants will help shape and deliver an innovative model of care through consultation, coaching, training and targeted intervention, supporting children, families, schools and professionals whilst remaining connected to established children's therapy services.

We welcome applications from Occupational Therapists with paediatric experience and those bringing transferable skills from community, acute, rehabilitation, mental health, learning disability, neurodevelopmental or other specialist settings.

You will join a supportive multidisciplinary team with access to supervision, peer support, professional leadership and excellent development opportunities. The role offers opportunities for specialist practice, service development, leadership experience, workforce development and career progression. Informal discussions, visits and shadowing opportunities are warmly welcomed.

Main duties of the job

  • Hold responsibility for assessment, clinical reasoning, intervention planning and management of a specialist caseload.
  • Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessment, advice and intervention across home, education and community settings.
  • Work collaboratively with children, families, educational settings and partner agencies using strengths-based, goal-focused and evidence-based approaches.
  • Support schools through consultation, coaching, modelling of strategies, training and capacity-building activities.
  • Deliver and evaluate targeted interventions using evidence-based practice and routine outcome measures.
  • Provide specialist advice regarding equipment, environmental adaptations and statutory occupational therapy responsibilities where appropriate.
  • Work autonomously whilst managing clinical risk and complexity.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement and the ongoing development of the Experts at Hand model.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring and support to Band 4 and Band 5 staff, assistants and students.
  • Support multidisciplinary working, workforce development and positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Work flexibly across localities and service areas to support service need and demand.
About us

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.

CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health which are provided by Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust and Devon Partnership Trust. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services.

CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training.

Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.
