Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Radiography Assistant Practitioner to join the busy cardiac MRI department (CMR) as secondment, based at Leeds General Infirmary. The CMR unit performs over 3500 examinations a year at its state of the art facility. The unit is a leading Centre of Cardiac MRI excellence in the United Kingdom and it is at the forefront of the modality throughout the world through its high impact research publications, clinical scanning and educational training. The Service is provided over an extended day, typically 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8 am until 5pm Saturdays. The post holder will undertake a clinical support role, supporting the small team of Cardiac MRI radiographers, Cardiac MRI radiographic assistants and clinicians within the department. This post will be based at the Leeds General Infirmary. Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities will be the day-to-day aspects of patient care; screening and preparation of patients for their examination; general administrations tasks and to be familiar with Trust local rules for MR safety pertaining to the assistant role. There will also be a requirement to manage the training of new staff and overseeing of their induction, initial development and continued day to day management. A command of basic computer skills is essential and familiarity with current Trust systems a desirable advantage. The CMR service has a strong Research focussed element. Whilst also maintaining the balance of the clinical service provision, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to this discipline by liaising directly with the research consultants, their fellows and the research nurses to facilitate the optimal use of scanning time and resources and assist the accurate administration required to support such studies. NVQ qualifications in General healthcare support level 3 & Diagnostic and Therapeutic support level 3 would be advantageous
