St Leonard's Hospice is recruiting a Learning & Development Coordinator to join our Workforce, Education, Learning & Development (WELD) department. Working as part of a small team, this role will coordinate L&D activity to ensure Hospice staff receive the right training and are offered a varied and engaging curriculum which supports their wellbeing and performance whilst at work.

This is a part-time position based at our main hospice site, working 24 hours per week in office hours. Ideally, we are looking for someone to work at least 7.5 hours on a Monday however there is flexibility over how the rest of the hours are worked during the week which can be discussed at interview. The salary for this role is £16,581.76 per annum pro rata (FTE £25,909 per annum).

Main duties of the job

No two days will be the same and as a Learning & Development Coordinator, your key duties will be to:

  • Coordinate all virtual and in-person training and act as the primary contact for trainers
  • Manage all internal education and wellbeing events which include Workforce Wednesdays and celebration weeks
  • Collaborate with academic providers to ensure seamless student placements processes and experiences
  • Collect and maintain records of all education and training sessions and utilise data to improve and enhance the effectiveness

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in a similar learning & development/ training role including project coordination
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills and be able to build positive relationships with different key stakeholders
  • Be a proficient user of the Microsoft Office package

The role also involves gathering feedback to understand the impact of learning and development, so the WELD offering can be refined, improved and developed.

Main duties and responsibilities

Coordination of Workplace Education, Learning and Development and Wellbeing Activity

1. Coordinate all virtual and in-person training including (re)scheduling events, issuing calendar invitations and joining instructions, booking suitable rooms/venues and maintaining accurate delegate lists.

2. Use compliance data to schedule a calendar of learning that meets anticipated demand and maintains compliance.

3. Create a varied Workforce Wednesday curriculum which is suitable and relevant for all Hospice teams.

4. Act as the primary contact for internal and external trainers, ensuring they have all they need to deliver successful education, learning and development.

5. Coordinate activity to mark Learning at Work week and education and development activity in collaboration with other Hospices.

6. Provide oversight and coordination for staff wellbeing activity across the Hospice and coordinate a wide schedule of events throughout the year, including world wellbeing week.

7. Oversee the marketing of WELD activity to maximise attendance (includes liaison with managers to release staff).

Training Evaluation

1. Collect and maintain records of all education and training sessions for evaluation and CQC inspection purposes.

2. Utilise evaluation data to improve and enhance the effectiveness of education and training and find better ways of measuring impact and return on investment /expectation.

3. Lead small WELD service development projects arising from evaluation insight.

Student Placements and Apprenticeships

1. Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders and academic providers to ensure seamless student placement processes and experiences and prompt payment for placement students.

2. Manage Apprenticeships including maintaining the DAS system, tracking and maximising levy utilisation and identifying and promoting opportunities for funded Apprenticeships.
