Your important role will involve various duties as required to assist in the development and implementation of research projects on an as and when basis. This supportive role is based in the Yorkshire Quality and Research (YQSR) Group and will involve working on exciting programmes of work within the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Research Collaboration (YHPSRC).

Main duties of the job

You will work closely to support the senior colleagues in the study design, recruitment and data collection and analysis.

The role will also include helping to obtain necessary ethical and governance approvals at project outset, for which support will be provided.

Other responsibilities will include leading on literature searching, working collaboratively on funding applications, providing regular progress reports, disseminating the findings in different formats, including but not limited to publications, presentations, blogs, infographics, website content, brief reports.

There is a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and impact, to support researchers to build their networks and develop their expertise in patient safety.

General support will be available from the YQSR research support office. For specific projects each flexible researcher will be supported by a designated researcher.

PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

To support the day-to-day management of research and operations through:

Working closely with researchers in the YQSR team to deliver a nationally and internationally recognised programme of patient safety research

Contributing to applications for research funding

Leading literature searches to identify best available evidence/previous research/gaps in knowledge

Supporting research design and conduct of qualitative and/or quantitative research, including data analysis

Leading on the preparation of applications for required permissions for projects as per regulatory requirements. e.g. ethics, NHS research governance

Conducting the collection and analysis of qualitative and/ or quantitative data including, for example, qualitative research interviewing, ethnographic methods, inferential statistics, descriptive statistics, regression analysis, thematic/framework analysis and systematic review methods etc.

Ensuring confidential management and storage of all data held electronically and on paper

Supporting the recruitment participants to projects within the themes of work

Support engagement with various stakeholders to ensure our research meets the needs of these groups.

Embedding relevant Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all research activities and attending the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Working Group.

Participating in internal and external meetings and events as and when required

Inputting ideas and determine own day-to-day operation within agreed parameters.

Performing administrative duties in relation to the programme of research

Writing/contributing to research reports and papers for publication.

Enhancing the impact of our work through engagement with a variety of academic and non-academic audiences (blogs, social media etc)
