This is a fast-paced environment with a high turnover of patients and a wide range of clinical presentations, requiring a confident, proactive educator who can work alongside staff in real time to promote safe, effective and evidence-based practice.

As a Clinical Practice Educator, you will lead on developing staff competence, confidence and professional growth across all bands. You will organise, deliver and evaluate education that supports high-quality emergency and trauma care, ensuring staff are equipped to meet the demands of a busy ED. Your role will be central to fostering a positive learning culture, supporting clinical excellence and enhancing patient experience.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead, coordinate and deliver high-quality clinical education across all Emergency Department areas, involving both adults and paediatrics.

  • Provide visible, hands-on clinical support, working alongside staff in real time to identify learning needs, reinforce safe practice and promote high standards of emergency care.

  • Develop, implement and monitor competency frameworks to ensure staff at all bands maintain the skills required for a high-turnover ED environment with complex adult and paediatric presentations.

  • Support induction, preceptorship and ongoing development for new starters, students, internationally-educated nurses and existing staff, ensuring consistent learning experiences across all clinical areas.

  • Facilitate clinical supervision, assessment and sign-off, including reflective practice, skills development and professional growth.

  • Collaborate with senior nursing, medical and AHP teams to ensure education aligns with service priorities, trauma pathways, patient safety standards and national guidance.

  • Act as a specialist resource for emergency and trauma care, providing guidance on best practice, policy updates and emerging evidence.

  • Monitor training compliance and evaluate learning outcomes, producing reports and action plans to support continuous improvement.

  • Promote a positive learning culture, encouraging innovation, supporting wellbeing and helping staff thrive in a demanding, fast-paced ED environment.

However, we are seeing an increasing over-reliance of AI tools, which can negatively affect your application as it reduces a candidate's individuality, and makes it difficult for us to gain a clear and authentic understanding of your experience, skills, and in turn your suitability for the role.

All submissions must be truthful and if you do use AI, it should only be used to enhance your application and not create your supporting statement in its entirety. Your supporting statement should be in your own words and must accurately reflect your personal experience and achievements. Where we have concerns that AI has been used to generate content that misrepresents your experience and suitability for the role, we may withdraw your application.
