Main duties of the job
The Radiotherapy Physics Section of the Portsmouth Medical Physics Department is a team we are proud of here at PHU. We are looking to appoint into a band 4 Radiotherapy Physics Technologist Apprentice (Healthcare Science Associate Practitioner) to join the established, friendly and enthusiastic team of 22.
We will aid and support you in completing a Healthcare Science Level 6 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship is a three-year course resulting in a specialist qualification in Healthcare Science, providing the theoretical and practical skills required for a career as a Clinical Technologist in HealthCare Science.

Key duties are providing technical services in Radiotherapy Physics, which may include:
Radiotherapy treatment planning using specialised software
Quality control measurements to confirm treatment equipment performance
Work in a workshop to aid in the making of devices to support Radiotherapy
Support to theatre activities.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- English and mathematics qualifications equivalent to GCSE Grade C/4 or above (mandatory)
- 3 A-Levels (minimum BBC predicted or attained), including at least one relevant STEM subject (e.g. physics, maths, engineering)
- Alternative qualifications will be considered, including:
- T-Level qualification (A-C in core components) in either Healthcare Science or Science
- BTEC Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science
- BTEC National Extended Diploma (minimum MMM), including at least one relevant STEM subject
- Access to Higher Education Diploma, with Merit in at least 15 credits in relevant STEM units
