An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring, enthusiastic Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker to join the Nutrition Team on a permanent basis. (0.7WTE)

We provide a service Mon-Fri 08:00-16:00.

You should be a clinical support worker with proven experience and although clinical experience within the speciality is desirable it is not essential as support will be given to allow you to develop new skills and knowledge.

The post will be both clinical and non-clinical.

You will need to enjoy working as part of a team, able to use your own initiative and have excellent interpersonal skills as you will play an integral part in the delivery of high quality care to patients requiring artificial nutrition support.

The multidisciplinary team consists of CNSs, Pharmacists, Dietitians and Drs who care for patients with Intestinal Failure receiving parenteral nutrition. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills, who will work well within the MDT. Main duties of the job

Your primary responsibilities will be:

Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, their families, and carers

Working with the co-ordinator to prepare outpatient clinics, which includes booking clinic appointments, assisting the nurses in clinic and any follow up requirements.

Phlebotomy

Assisting the nurses with office duties, such as communicating with patients via phone or email, registering patients documents with our homecare companies.

Liaising with the home care companies

Assisting the nurses with clinical duties, such as patient training whilst setting up for home parenteral nutrition, CVAD dressing changes, phlebotomy.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care, Diploma in health level 3, Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Basic skills Maths and English Level 2 (equivalent of GCSE 4-9 (A*-C)

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of working within a healthcare setting delivering clinical and personal care
  • Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Power point)
  • Utilisation of planning and organisational skills
  • Insight into the roles and responsibilities of the post
