We are seeking to appoint an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical, Counselling or Health Psychologist) to work within the Primary Care Enhanced Psychological Therapy Service who is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Applications are very welcome from candidates who are applying at Band 8a but also those who would like a robust preceptorship position at Band 7 to aspire to and work towards completing the competencies for a Band 8a over a period of training and development.

We are looking for applicants who have experience in working with people with complex trauma presentations providing psychological assessment and interventions as part of a team of psychologists and psychological therapists.

The Primary Care Enhanced Psychological Therapy Service offers psychological assessment and treatment to adults with complex psychological/mental health difficulties which may be longstanding in nature. Ideally, therapeutic interventions will be offered for service users who have already received less intensive interventions from other services or whose indicated needs are unlikely to be met by brief therapy.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide and encourage the use of psychological formulations to inform overall care planning and deliver therapeutic interventions accordingly.

The post holder will develop the psychological skill set of the team through provision of training / supervision /consultation and reflective practice.

The post holder will be required to have supervision training.

The successful candidate will be provided with professional and clinical supervision frameworks and multiple opportunities to develop their specialist clinical (including developing/ enhancing therapeutic modalities) and professional skills through a well-resourced CPD structure.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) or
  • Additional Psychotherapy qualification/ training in one or more psychological therapies e.g. CBT, Compassion focused Therapy, Brief Interpersonal therapy, Dynamic Interpersonal therapy
  • HCPC registered (8a)
  • BABCP/UKCP or other relevant registration professional body (8a)
  • Additional Psychotherapy qualification/ training relevant to working with complex presentations in one or more psychological therapies (8a)
  • Supervision training (8a)

Desirable

  • Core NHS/Social Services professional training

  • Skills in conducting complex psychological assessment and intervention frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
  • Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex and /or clinically sensitive information to clients and professional colleagues within and outside the NHS
