Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join us as part of an externally funded project teamin key geographical locations across B&NES.

This is a flexible full or part time position. Preference of working days and hours can be discussed at interview stage.

Collaborating with partners like The St John's Foundation and BANES Early Years Advisory Service, you'll help plan, execute, and evaluate the project's next phase. With almost three years of successful independent evaluation, the project now aims to expand its reach.

As part of a small team, you'll provide training and support to Nursery and Reception staff, focusing on implementing the WellComm toolkit and fostering language-rich environments. Your responsibilities also include identifying Communication Champions within settings and facilitating their training for sustained project success, alongside data collection and outcome evaluation.

Main duties of the job

Working collaboratively with colleagues across health and education services,you willbe responsible for:

  • Collaborativeplanning, implementation and evaluationof the project
  • Implementing, supporting and trainingEarly Years Practitioners in the use of the Wellcomm toolkit Strengthening the early identification of needs and support within the targeted settings
  • Upskilling the early years workforce during the period of the project
  • Helping toidentify a communication champion within each targeted setting and offering enhancedtraining and support
  • Engagingfamilies of children identified as needing additional support and offering parent/carer workshops to improve confidence and awareness of strategies and activities to support their childs needs
  • Working with the independent evaluation partner to monitor and evaluate impact of project

The Ideal Candidate

  • A qualified Speech and Language Therapist
  • Early Years Experience
  • Strong communication and organisation skills
  • Flexible approach to ensureyou deliver positive experiences to children and young people and their families.
  • Confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.
