Ruby lodge

As part of this unique provision we are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic band 5 RNLD/RMN, with experience and knowledge of people with a Learning Disability to join our Tier 4 CAMHS service on Ruby lodge.

Ruby Lodge is a seven bedded inpatient assessment ward for children and young people aged 8-17 who have a primary diagnosis of a Learning Disability and are also experiencing an associated Mental Health presentation.

As part of the team you will use your nursing skills and experience to inform the holistic assessment of young people in our care.

The multidisciplinary team on the lodge consists of professionals from Psychiatry, Psychology, SaLT, Teaching and Social Work. On site there are a number of different professionals we can access on a needs led basis including Dieticians and Family, Drama and Art Therapy. We also have access to other services across the trust including visiting Paediatricians.

We are fully committed to multi-agency working across the country covering a national remit for assessment. We strive to provide high quality care for patients, families and stakeholders as well as providing clinical development for staff.

Main duties of the job

Your main duties as a Nurse at Ruby Lodge are;

  • Shift coordination.
  • Medication administration and monitoring.
  • Following the nursing process to complete a full assessment of need, including working with the young person's family, carers and wider support network.
  • Developing robust plans of care.
  • Risk assessment/risk management.
  • Writing reports for and attendance at a range of meetings.
  • Understanding of the MHA and its application in practice.
  • Working to reduce restrictive practice on the lodge.
  • Understanding and support in developing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans in conjunction with the MDT.
  • Supervision of band 4 Nursing Associates and band 3 support workers.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability nurse or awaiting registration.
