Job summary

Are you a Registered Nurse or Midwife (practicing) with experience of working within a clinical triage environment?

At BPAS, we're looking for an Aftercare Teleconsultation Nurse or Midwife on a permanent basis working from home for 30 hours per week.

You will be required to work shifts across a service that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This will include some evening, weekend and overnight shifts.

As an Aftercare Nurse or Midwife you'll provide post abortion, vasectomy and sexual health information over the phone.

Every client is different, and you will need to adapt your style to meet their requirements. You'll assess and provide medical advice to a varied client group with a wide range of conditions and concerns after treatment over the phone.

About you:

You'll be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practicing) with experience in primary/surgical/urgent care. A self-starter, you will be adaptable and self-motivated to provide an excellent telephone consultation service to BPAS clients. You will also have a broad clinical knowledge with previous experience of clinical and nurse triage, and working to guidelines, policies and procedures.

We are also looking for:

  • Good IT skills with the ability to use Microsoft Packages
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and listening skills which can be used via the telephone
  • Self-motivated to be able to work from home in a clinical telephone based role

Main duties of the job

  • Provide clinically safe triage care for clients with a broad range of questions and concerns.
  • Booking post-operative checks for clients who need to be seen in clinic after their treatment.
  • Referring clients to our counselling service and safeguarding team when needed.
  • Being able to communicate with GPs and other health care professional outside of BPAS as and when needed.
  • Update clients notes with factual advice and informing the clinic if the client needs a follow up.

Location: Home Based

Some travel to BPAS hub & unit locations around the UK will be required for the successful candidate in the first few months of employment for training and induction purposes. Visits to head office in Leamington Spa will be required occasionally during employment for meetings & training.

Hours: 30 hours per week

Working Pattern: You will be required to work shifts across a service that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This will include some evening, weekend and overnight shifts. Shifts are given in advance - more to be discussed at interview.

Salary: £36,938 to £44,625 per annum pro rata - depending on skills and experience.
