An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Audiologist to join our team - with a special interest in paediatrics- role is based at York with clinics at Harrogate
The successful candidate will:
- Provide audiological cover for ENT clinics, consisting of basic pure tone audiometry, tympanometry and speech audiometry as required.
- Provide over 3 clinics and under 3 clinics (full training will be given)
- Provide a comprehensive hearing aid service to paediatric patients referred to the Department from GPs and the ENT Department, including provision of a full range of NHS digital hearing aids.
- Recommend more complex assessments (OAE, obscure auditory dysfunction testing, vestibular assessment, ERA and Tinnitus Assessments/rehabilitation) and perform these as trained appropriately.
- Take aural impressions for paediatric age groups, working within national and departmental protocols and using own clinical judgement to ensure safe and competent practice.
- Participate in departmental audit, research and development.
Main duties of the job
To develop and maintain personal skills and knowledge within the audiological field, maintaining up to date knowledge of procedural and professional developments and disseminating this information to the rest of the Audiological Team as required.
To instruct and train other members of staff and locums as required.
To assess paediatric patients
To liaise with and refer to medical auditory implant, hearing therapy and local support services as necessary.
To provide a comprehensive range of Paediatric NHS digital hearing aids to patients based on this information.
To assess the benefit derived from hearing aids, using subjective and objective measures, including informal methods, appropriate questionnaires and insertion gain measurements.
To provide ongoing assessment and maintenance for paediatric hearing impaired patients.
To liaise with staff involved in the assessment and rehabilitation process, including Audiological and Medical staff and local support services to ensure the effectiveness of routine services.
To perform more advanced test procedures, including vestibular and ERA.
Paediatric Tinnitus assessment and rehabilitation.

Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Band 5 Audiologists to join our UKAS accredited Adult Audiology Team.
The post holder will be based at York and must be able to travel to other sites for example Harrogate, Thirsk, York, Whitby and Scarborough. There will also be the opportunity to train in paediatrics.
The post holder will provide audiological support for ENT clinics, serving both adult and paediatric patients, within the Audiology Department and at peripheral clinics. This will include performing basic pure-tone, impedance, and speech audiometry as required.
This role requires an experienced Audiologist, capable of performing primary audiological assessments independently, without direct supervision.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering a comprehensive hearing aid service for patients referred by GPs and the ENT Department, encompassing the provision of a full range of NHS digital hearing aids.
- Taking aural impressions for patients of all ages, adhering to national and departmental protocols, and applying clinical judgment to ensure safe and effective practice.
- Assisting with paediatric testing under the supervision of a Paediatric Audiologist, and take responsibility for the daily calibration and maintenance of audiometers, impedance meters, insertion gain, and hearing aid fitting equipment used in general audiology.
- Participating in departmental audits, research, and development, as well as contribute to the upkeep of the department, including liaising with the Works Department when necessary.

MAIN PURPOSE:
To work as part of a multi/interdisciplinary team providing speech and language therapy input within the Brainkind neurobehavioral model to clients with acquired brain injury in liaison with internal and external professionals, relevant social networks, and People We Support.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical / Professional Practice
Work as an autonomous clinical professional in a specialist area.
To work within the limits of own competence and area of responsibility and accountability, seeking help and advice where needed.
Work with a range of people we support with complex: physical, mental, emotional health needs and/or challenging behaviours social care models deteriorating abilities.
Use evidence-based practice, person centred principles and clinical reasoning to undertake comprehensive assessments, considering environment, context, social networks and future plans, of People We Support in order to formulate appropriate: rehabilitation goals, care plans, communication therapy programmes, referrals, communication partner training
Evaluate service user progress and make alterations as required.
Knowledge and experience of the neurobehavioral approach to brain injury, demonstrating knowledge of current research findings, and best practice in the field.
Overcome barriers in communication to actively engage people we support in assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning to gain valid informed consent. Where necessary, work within a legal framework with people we support who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
To provide easily accessible information about people we support communication abilities and support needs, providing training to others with supervision.
To support the people we support's ability to communicate their consent around sharing information with family, carers, and other stakeholders, respecting everyones right to confidentiality.
Identifying, assessing, and managing complex dysphagia presentations, including developing and delivering appropriate dysphagia rehabilitation support, and providing training to others.
Write and verbally present reports, care and rehab plans which reflect people we support needs, impact on functioning and summarise findings, providing recommendations and referral when appropriate.
To maintain and produce accurate, professional, and up-to-date documentation, ensuring effective reporting is complete and consistent with legal and organisational standards.
ABOUT YOU:
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- Minimum of 2 years experience (Band 6) and a minimum of 4 years' experience (Band 7)
- Dyshagia qualification and experience in management of dysphagia
- Registered with the HCPC
- Knowledge and experience of speech and language therapy outcome measures
- Knowledge and experience of models of practice and assessment tools relevant to discipline.
- Knowledge and experience of evidence-based practice and how to apply to clinical setting.

To work as part of a multi/interdisciplinary team providing speech and language therapy input within the Brainkind neurobehavioral model to clients with acquired brain injury in liaison with internal and external professionals, relevant social networks, and People We Support.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for highly motived general Radiographers to work in our busy department in York. York is a wonderful city within North Yorkshire, an area renowned for its beaches, National Parks, and history.

Main duties of the job
As part of the radiology team, you will be required to work flexibly throughout the general department, including Theatres, Fluoroscopy, Dexa, and the Emergency Department. You will be expected to participate in the general out of hours rota, which provides a service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will work across our York satellite sites, such as Selby, Clifton Park Hospital, and at Askham Bar.
We are a forward-thinking department that values our staff, and are committed to advanced practice with a number of Radiographers currently undertaking extended roles. As a department we encourage the progression of our Radiographers to develop from a Band 5 (Preceptor) to Band 6 (Specialist), via a supported competency-based run through.
Opportunities exist for Radiographers to undertakefunded post-graduate study in all modalities. Recent qualifications obtained by staff include post graduate certificates in MRI, CT, Forensics and Image Reporting.
We currently support students in their training from the Universities of Leeds and Hull. Staff are given training and support to become mentors and assessors.
