The Whittington Emergency Department (ED) serves the diverse local community of North London in and around Archway and Highgate. We are a busy but very friendly central London ED, seeing more than 100,000 patients in the last year and our recent CQC inspection praised the training and development opportunities for staff. You will be given the opportunity to rotate through the department including developing your skills in minor injury in our Urgent Treatment Centre with support of the ENPs, Majors where we assess the majority of ambulance patients, the fast-paced assessment area and will also gain new skills and training in mental health.
We are looking for dedicated, compassionate and dynamic healthcare assistants with acute hospital experience to join our team of Emergency Department Assistants in this fast-paced acute environment. Emergency Department experience isn't essential, as we will provide you with a training plan to develop your skills in specialist techniques such as plastering, cannulation and wound care.
Post holders would be expected to rotate onto nights and weekends on a four-week rota basis.
About us
Whittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the way we look after our staff. We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation, and religion or belief. The Trust believes that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.

Job responsibilities
The opportunity:
We are recruiting for an experienced Claims Auditor on a permanent basis who will primarily be auditing internal and external complex clinical and non-clinical claims files external suppliers. This key role within our Claims Function provides an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to help the Audit Team shape future developments and promote quality improvement within the Claims function at NHS Resolution.
What we’re looking for:
- Extensive personal injury and/or clinical negligence claims handling experience or equivalent knowledge and skills or post graduate qualification.
- Auditing experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, sometimes in sensitive and or hostile environments.
- An ability to make decisions and be willing to highlight poor service delivery.
- Outstanding interpersonal, skills requiring diplomacy and professionalism.
- Ability to manage several priorities at the same time.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight and immovable deadlines.
What do the current auditors say:
“Joining the audit team is an excellent opportunity to work with fantastic managers and colleagues to review and maintain the high quality of case handling expected from our case managers whilst also identifying and driving areas for improvement.
As an auditor, I, along with colleagues have been empowered to create, lead and contribute towards new audit projects for the benefit of the organisation. The encouragement provided to develop new audit projects, whilst performing everyday tasks is a testament to the professional and supportive nature of the audit managers and team members where everyone feels comfortable to contribute and assist in the success of various projects.”
‘Working in the audit team has helped broaden my understanding of claims management, the internal claims processes, and NHS Resolution’s vision and values. The scope and nature of audits vary from auditing claims from across the different indemnity schemes that NHSR operate to auditing Panel performance. The team is close knit, extremely friendly and regularly collaborate’. A former NHSR Case Manager
“In my previous role as a Claimant PI solicitor, I found myself always thinking about my files during the evenings / weekends – there was nothing quite like the feeling of sitting down to watch television on a Sunday evening and suddenly remembering the vast schedule of loss which had to be drafted the following day. Before going on annual leave, I would work long days to make sure my caseload was all up to date, only to return to the office and be faced with all of the work my pre-holiday efforts had generated. What I enjoy so much about my role in audit is that fact that once I have audited a file, that is it and I no longer have to think about it. I now have a much better work / life balance.”
"What I enjoy about working in the audit team, aside from how friendly (and it might surprise you to know fun) and supportive the team are, is the exposure to a really diverse range of work."

Job summary
Senior Practitioner Psychologist in Staff Wellbeing (1.0WTE, 8a)
The Staff Wellbeing and Support Service is seeking a Senior Practitioner Psychologist to provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to staff within the Health Board. This is an exciting new post, with significant opportunity to develop and deliver valued and inclusive support to staff.
You will be key in supporting our staff to live valued lives both within and outside of work, working in collaboration with people who access our service to formulate complex difficulties and provide tailored brief psychological support. Where required, this support will be trauma-focused, with part of this role offering trauma therapy to staff who have experienced workplace trauma.
We are a small but dedicated team, and we value flexibility, consistency and support for our own wellbeing as well as the Health Board values of compassion, openness and respect. We have good connections with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme, and welcome trainees into our service.
If you feel that you would relish the opportunity to make a significant difference to staff within the Health Board, please do get in touch - we'd love to hear from you.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Please note that this role is a pan-BCU role; you will be required to travel across the BCUHB footprint to work.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will undertake a range of assessments with staff and, based on this assessment, will provide intervention or signpost to appropriate services. There will be a significant requirement to promote psychological thinking across the Health Board, particularly with staff groups who may not see the need to engage in initiatives around their own wellbeing. Supervision of others, delivery of training, and service development will also form an integral part of this role.
We are passionate about supporting staff with trauma, and embedding reflective practice into the Health Board. Therefore, the post holder will have opportunities to help us to continue developing these two important areas.
The post holder will also be a member of the BCUHB Psychology & Psychological Services for Physical Health Department, which is a supportive, friendly and growing department of Clinical Psychologists working within physical health services across BCUHB and has strong links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme. Continuing professional development and research is actively supported within the department. This post provides the ideal opportunity to gain experience in applying clinical psychology within a highly specialist setting.

The Integrated Transfer of Care (ITOC) Team is a dynamic and multi-skilled team consisting of nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and Assistant Practitioners. You will be part of a supportive, forward thinking team of Dietitians and Assistant Practitioners who are enthusiastic about providing high quality dietetic care and are working on a range of service improvement projects to maximise effectiveness. We are focused on delivering the highest quality care to our patients, both in the hospital setting and on discharge. You will be confident in working within a variety of multidisciplinary teams and advocating for the best nutritional care for the patient. Our Trust uses electronic documentation systems to help facilitate efficient working in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills are required.
Whilst a car is not essential flexibility is required in order to facilitate cover for the caseload across our hospital sites.
The Trust is committed to providing a 7 day therapy service with participation in bank holiday cover for dietetics.
The Trust is a multi-site organisation, you may be required to work at any of the Trust sites and you may need to change your normal place of work, either temporarily or on a permanent basis, as a result of development or reorganisation of Trust services.
We would support applicants looking for part time or full time hours.
If you would like to discuss this post, please contact Sarah Thatapudi on 0121 424 2673.
The Trust is an equal opportunities employer and enforces a no smoking policy.
