Job summary
Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare or working on the Staff Bank within these organisations. Nursing and AHP vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses/AHPs.
Our Community Neurological Rehabilitation Service provides specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults with progressive and non-progressive neurological conditions. Our multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, nurses, rehabilitation assistants and administrators work together to maximise independence, wellbeing and quality of life.
We support people affected by stroke, traumatic brain injury, MS, Parkinson's disease and motor neurone disease, including those transitioning from hospital and those living with long-term neurological conditions in the community.
Care is delivered in the most appropriate setting, including patients' homes, outpatient clinics and community venues. We also provide therapy groups such as balance, exercise and fatigue management programmes. Working closely with neuropsychology services, social care, acute hospitals and organisations including the MS Society and Parkinson's UK, we deliver holistic, person-centred rehabilitation.
Main duties of the job
Are you looking to accelerate your development as a physiotherapist while gaining experience across a variety of clinical specialities? Our Rotational Physiotherapist programme offers an excellent opportunity to build your skills, confidence and clinical expertise within supportive multidisciplinary teams.
Through a structured rotational programme, you will gain experience in Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Neurorehabilitation, Community Rehabilitation, Inpatient Community Hospitals and the Falls Service. Typically lasting six months, each rotation will help you broaden your clinical skills, consolidate your learning and explore areas of specialist interest.
Supported by experienced Senior Physiotherapists, you will manage your own caseload, develop your clinical reasoning and grow in autonomy through regular supervision, mentorship and development opportunities. Working alongside a range of healthcare professionals, you will deliver person-centred rehabilitation in both community and clinic settings, including patients' homes.
This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated physiotherapist who is eager to learn, embrace new challenges and build a strong foundation for a successful career. A UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential as travel between service locations and patients' homes is required.

You will bring a distinctive social and rights based perspective to the work that you do and promote this within the multi-disciplinary team and beyond. You will liaise with other agencies to ensure that the needs and rights of people with lived experience of mental health are at the front and centre of services and interventions.
You will use your advanced relationship skills to work with people to make positive and self-directed change and support them to work towards recovery as defined by them. You will provide advocacy support and understand the important role of carers, working in partnership to support them especially at time of crisis.
Providing statutory social care assessments under the Care Act and s.117 after-care Mental Health Act is a key feature of the role and you will provide a strengths based, rights focused assessment to identify and meet need, ensuring timely review of packages of support.
Working with complexity and risk is a key feature of the role and you will use your safeguarding adults knowledge to identify abuse and neglect and work with the person and other agencies to seek ways in which to protect and safeguard the person. At times, you will need to use legislative frameworks such as the Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act to support people who are unable to make decisions for themselves, balancing and protecting the rights of people and others.
