Ward 18 is an Acute Multi-Speciality Surgical Ward caring for ENT, Maxillofacial, Colorectal, Urology, General and Emergency Surgery patients.
We are currently growing our team and are looking for both newly qualified and experienced nurses to join us.
We offer excellent support with experienced mentors to those who are newly qualified.
To experienced nurses, we offer the opportunity to develop and utilise their clinical skills.
We offer training in tracheostomy care, stoma care, wound management, TPN and PICC line management. We encourage and support ongoing learning and development within the role.
If you are looking to up skill and work within a diverse speciality then Ward 18 is for you.
Main duties of the job
- Assessment, planning and delivery of care for a caseload of patients.
- Liaise with all members of the multi disciplinary team and act as patient advocate to ensure high standards of care are achieved.
- Support and supervise junior staff and students with the education and development
- Assist in the day to day management of the Ward, ensuring standards are met.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Practice Nurse to join our vibrant, forward-thinking practice. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the nursing team and will be responsible for participating in the delivery of high-quality patient care to our registered practice population.
Working alongside our Nurse Manager, three Practice Nurses, and two GPAs; we are ideally looking for chronic disease experience in Diabetes Management.
This post is a permanent position at the Practice, 20-24 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
The focus of the role is both the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients presenting with a long term condition, and the provision of preventative health care to the practice population. You will deliver care, focusing on supporting patients to be healthy, monitoring of long-term conditions, health prevention and screening activities. They will work collaboratively within the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership as required.

Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Practitioner Psychologist to join our Neurodevelopmental Pathway (Autism Assessment Service) specialist psychology service. The role will involve assessing children presenting with neurodevelopmental needs across all sectors of care within the Birmingham catchment area.
The post holder will be part of the multidisciplinary team in the Neurodevelopmental Hubs and liaise closely with colleagues in education.
They will also supervise and support the psychological assessments and therapy provided by other psychologists and others who provide psychologically based care and treatment.
They will support a culture of research and utilise research skills for audit, policy and service developments and propose and implement policy changes within the Service and the broader multidisciplinary team. They will also be highly visible and, accessible and a figure to whom staff, patients and their families, can turn to for assistance, advice and support.

Our psychology department is well established and we are looking for committed and passionate psychologists who will work with us to develop and grow psychology department within the Children and Families Division in the same vein. You will be joining an established wider group of friendly, committed and supportive Psychologists. The post holder will also be part of the professional network of Applied Psychologists working across Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, within our Learning Disabilities, Neuro Rehabilitation, Pain Management and Weight Management services.
Our psychologists work closely with colleagues within MDT to strive for care that is trauma informed, compassionate and formulation based. Birmingham is a diverse and multi-cultural community, we are mindful of the additional challenges that clients from marginalised communities may encounter when accessing our services. Our team is actively engaged in research projects and have strong links with Aston University and we are keen to facilitate opportunities for quality improvement projects.
The Psychology Service offers support and close links with other psychologists through facilitated reflective practice groups, CPD events and team meetings. There are good links with the local DClinPsy training courses and the MSCi pathway at Birmingham and Coventry Universities.

Job summary

The post holder will be instrumental in the development of the current Acute Kidney Injury service and the implementation of the inpatient PICC line provision service at Southport Hospital.

Main duties of the job
- Perform autonomous comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health needs and varying levels of complexity.
- Provide appropriate care of level 2 and 3 patients delivering treatment and monitoring in ward areas/departments if admission into critical care is not available or inappropriate.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patients critical care needs are met.
- Co-ordinate & maintain effective communications between critical care, and other ward/departments, managing conflicting views where necessary.
- Effective management of complications, which may occur during and/or post insertion of VADs including; blood stream and exit site infection, thrombus, arterial puncture, nerve damage, malposition/migration of VAD tip, fracture/sever, occlusion and withdrawal occlusion.

In this varied role, you will work closely with patients and the multidisciplinary team, support medicines reconciliation and therapeutic monitoring, ensure the safe and timely supply of medicines, counsel patients and contribute to effective transfers of care. You will also lead and mentor colleagues, line manage junior staff, develop safe working practices, monitor service performance and champion continuous improvement. You will need General Pharmaceutical Council registration, an NVQ Level 3 or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science, an Accuracy Checking Technician qualification and significant relevant experience, together with the confidence, initiative and leadership skills to help shape and develop the service. Weekend and Bank Holiday working forms part of the role's formal rota.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with the Senior Pharmacist's for the Surgical Division to provide a comprehensive ward based, clinical service to the Surgical Division specifically the Theatres & Critical Care Directorate and the Women's & Children's Directorate. The role will include taking medicines histories and completing medicines reconciliation, carrying out therapeutic drug monitoring, making therapeutic interventions within scope of practice, supply of medicines, final checking of medicines and counselling patients. In addition management responsibilities will include line management of junior staff, assisting with the day to day running of the service and monitoring performance, of the service.
The role will also involve making continuous improvements to the service using innovative techniques to develop the technician role and integrating completely in the multi-disciplinary team. There will also be operational commitment to the Pharmacy service weekends and Bank Holidays on a formal rota

The role would include working with pre-school children with significantly delayed/disordered speech and language & supporting children, most with an EHCP, within mainstream schools as part of a school based team.

We're seeking to recruit a band 5 community nurse who shares our passion for caring for people in their own homes, strives towards excellence in community nursing and who has the ability to work well within a close knit team of supportive colleagues.
Our working shifts are 08:00 to 16:00 and 12:00 to 20:00, over a 7 day period, including regular weekends. There will be an expectation to work within the North West Locality, though the base for this job is Kington.
Main duties of the job
Our aim is to provide treatment and support to patients in their own homes. Whilst undertaking a holistic nursing assessment, we aim to encourage patients to remain as independent as possible, in order to prevent hospital admissions.
Due to the nature of this role, the ability to meet the travel requirements of the post are essential.

Formulate fee bids, recommends on appointments of external design consultants. Briefs, manages and monitors their performance. Ensuring all Procurement Standing Financial Instructions are complied with as necessary.
Responsible for the management of the Band 6 Design / Compliance officers within the team, including recruitment, sickness management, discipline, PADRs and other Human Resource Practices as required.
Consults with Local Authorities and other agencies on planning issues and to submit and secure planning approvals for capital developments, including outline and detailed consents, listed building consents, etc.
Authorise Contractors financial payments within delegated limits.
Provide regular complex project reports and highly specialised technical reports including project plans identifying impact on clinical service.
