Job summary
The Theatre Technician works as part of the multidisciplinary peri-operative team, supporting Registered Practitioners to deliver safe and effective care. The postholder undertakes delegated clinical and non-clinical duties, prepares and maintains theatre environments, assists with patient transfers and positioning, and ensures equipment and stock are available and safely used.
The postholder will work flexibly to support the operating theatre service, including participation in shift patterns that cover extended hours.
Main duties of the job
To assist Registered Practitioners in the delivery of patient care in Theatres and provide skilled assistance to the multi-disciplinary team. To circulate for a Trust defined scope of operative procedures (disciplines offered by the Trust). Perform extended clinical skills following competency sign off including; ECG recording, Venepuncture, basic wound care, Removal of simple dressings, observations and escalation based on NEWS2. Support the safe positioning, prepping, and draping of patients using advanced knowledge of surgical requirements. (i.e. traction, assistance with application of plaster application of tourniquet). To undertake day-to-day routine duties the postholder is required to use various items of equipment and have the knowledge and skills to store and maintain simple and highly complex / expensive pieces of equipment. Set up and assist with specialist equipment such as; Diathermy machines, Suction and insufflation units, Laparoscopic/arthroscopy camera stacks, Tourniquets and pressure devices. Perform swab, sharps and instrument counts with a Registered practitioner in accordance with Trust policy. Assemble and dismantle theatre equipment, troubleshoot basic equipment faults and escalate appropriately.

Job summary
The successful candidate will participate in delivering the echo service with the North Middlesex cardiology department. The candidate must hold a BSE TTE level 2 accreditation and has relevant NHS experience in the field of cardiac physiology. The successful individual will work alongside the team of 6 other BSE echocardiographers, ETP/registrar trainees , 4 imaging consultants and with the wider cardiac physiology team to perform transthoracic echocardiograms as well as assist with stress and transoesophageal echocardiograms. The department is BSE accredited and as a teaching hospital the successful candidate will be expected to support our trainee echocardiographers to achieve their BSE accreditation. The echo service is open 8am to 6pm on weekdays and also provide inpatient/outpatient weekend service. The individual will be expected to participate in this comprehensive service and flexible working pattern will be considered.
Main duties of the job
- Personally perform and report echocardiograms to a high standard,meeting BSE guidelines and departmental local standards.
- Work alongside the lead cardiac physiologist to provide structured training to junior cardiac physiologists and doctors with a view to their subsequent BSE accreditation.
- Maintain own BSE accreditation by ensuring appropriate CPD is up to date and course requests highlighted to the Head of Department in a timely manner.
- To provide an efficient running of the technical service by prioritising daily workloads.
- To maintain standards of technical competency in the provision of non-invasive, technical cardiac procedures.
- Remain up to date with current evidence in echocardiography
- Ensures that all echo studies are accurately recorded in our reporting system and outcome appropriately on the patient electronic record.
- Ensure smooth running of outpatient echo clinics so that patients are seen on time and receive a high quality of care.
- To jointly oversee the day to day running of the echo service, ensuring that all equipment is operational, clean and that stock levels are adequate.
- Support inpatient ward echo service including portable echoes andurgent/emergency service to intensive and acute care units.

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen at Broomfield Hospital for someone to join our friendly team as a Echocardiographer in our Cardiac Department. You will provide Echocardiography in both an inpatient, outpatient and community service in which you will be based in our PFI wing where we have the latest, most up to date equipment and facilities. We are as BSE accredited department, we perform a range of Echocardiography services including Physiology led stress echocardiography and Physiology led valves clinics. Please note we are unable to sponsor this role, as this is a fixed-term maternity cover post and part time, 28.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the echocardiography department as a highly specialist clinical cardiac scientist/echocardiographer, independently performing and reporting routine and complex echocardiograms both in an inpatient and outpatient setting. The post-holder will hold accreditation with the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) in adult trans-thoracic echo (TTE) and will be expected to hold or be working towards registration as a clinical scientist with the Health Care Professions Council or RCCP registration. The post holder will be expected to provide training support and education to students and colleagues.

Job summary
The Sterile Services Department at the Luton & Dunstable NHS Trust requires a Technician to join our busy team.
Working at 37.5 hours a week, 13:00 to 21:00 and every 4th weekend. (bank holidays by rota)
The Department processes flexible endoscopes, surgical instruments and supplies sterile and disinfected equipment to the wards, departments and theatres within the hospital.
Main duties of the job
Duties will involve the decontamination and sterilizing of surgical instruments including flexible endoscopes, operation of decontamination equipment and distribution of sterile items throughout the hospital.
Experience is desirable but not essential as an in-house training programme is in place.
Please note there is a strict uniform policy in place due to infection control.
HOURS: 8am to 4pm alternating with 1pm - 9pm Monday to Friday
Saturday and Sunday 8am - 4pm or 11am to 7pm (depending on rota) every 4th weekend
Bank holidays worked on a rota system
Post holder will be required to participate in the departments on-call rota

Job summary
The post holder will act as a Biomedical Scientist, (Histology Research Technician), within the Centre and have skills and knowledge in providing a high quality technical and scientific service in amyloid histopathology and immunohistochemistry. Main duties of the job
The post holder will work independently to ensure efficient and effective processing of patient samples through the section. They should have the ability to maintain and troubleshoot as needed, and train new and junior staff in relevant techniques, ensuring competency to ensure maximum efficiency. The post holder will be expected to perform complex manual, semi-automated and fully automated laboratory investigations to support a team comprising of clinical scientists, biomedical scientists and technicians working in the Jack O'Neil Laboratory. The post holder must have excellent organisational and communication skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated exercise physiologist to join the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust Cardiac Rehab service. The Department is operational from 7am - 8pm over a 6 day shift system. Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Nuclear Medicine Technologists/Radiographer to join our multidisciplinary team.
Our Nuclear Medicine and PET (Positron emission tomography) CT (Computed Tomography) departments are spread across two sites: Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. The successful candidates would be expected to cover workload across both sites on a rotational basis. We do not have an onsite radiopharmacy, our radiopharmaceuticals are provided to us by an external supplier.
The trust wide PET/CT service is based at Charing Cross Hospital and utilises a Siemens Biograph Vision scanner. Our PET CT service includes 18F-FDG, 68Ga-Dotatate, 68Ga-PSMA, 18F-Choline, 18F-Amyloid studies and numerous research studies using a wide range of radioisotopes.
At Hammersmith Hospital there are two Siemens Intevo Bold SPECT CT scanners which provide a wide variety of hybrid imaging as well as supporting an ever expanding therapy service. Examples of these are bone, parathyroid, stress and rest myocardial perfusion, DAT scans, 177Lutetium, SIRT and Therasphere therapies.
The successful post holder would be joining an exceptional team who have shared values and provide high quality patient care. We work collaboratively to consistently improve our services, as well as supporting staff to develop and explore their own interests within the nuclear medicine field.

Main duties of the job
Undertake training to support the operational functionality of the laboratory areas including calibrating, maintaining and operating complex analytical equipment and regularly reviewing internal quality control and external quality assurance data trends.

Main duties of the job
Medical Laboratory Assistants work as part of the team supporting the Biomedical Scientists. Biomedical Scientists analyse blood, body fluids, tissues and cells to determine the presence or absence of disease, to enable diagnosis and also to monitor the effectiveness of treatment. They also carry out tests and analyses, which enable population screening for inherited or malignant disorders.
After training MLAs will be required to carry out a range of laboratory procedures including to collect and separate samples from wards and from the phlebotomy service throughout the day, to receive, check, sort, uniquely identify, label and prepare for analysis including those specimens for clinical trials and to be responsible for the accurate and timely dispatch of samples to other laboratories for testing as required. These duties to be performed according to standard operating procedures and within daily deadlines.
Concentration, accuracy and attention to detail are essential to these processes and medical laboratory assistants will be expected to provide a helpful and professional service to patients and staff within the NHS.
The Central (Specimen) Reception services are based at both Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The post will involve working at both sites.

Addenbrookes CUH Biochemical Genetics Unit is looking for an experienced, versatile, and highly dynamic Biomedical Scientist to join our team of BMS' and MLA's.
To be suitable for this substantive role, you must have a degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent and be registered with the HCPC.
Completed registration portfolio awaiting assessment will be considered (starting salary Band 4 until HCPC registration has been awarded.)
You will have the following:-
- Experience of working in a Biomedical Science laboratory
- Experience of IT systems including LIMS systems and Microsoft Office packages
- Competency to perform testing and validate results to defined protocols
- Experience of Quality Management Systems
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Our laboratory runs an extended hours service and there is a requirement for you to be flexible and able to participate in the shift rota, covering Lates and Saturdays.
Please note that the interview will include a practical and an IT assessment which will be scored and contribute to the overall interview performance.
Main duties of the job
Undertake testing and processing of biological specimens. Entering of results into the hospital IT systems and communication of results to service users.
To work flexibly in reflection of service needs. This may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service.
Supervise and/or train less experienced staff in own area of work and competency. Post holder must not work outside their defined field of competence
The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions.
Maintain and promote professional image of the Biomedical Science profession and Cambridge University Hospital's Trust.

The Haematology Laboratory at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a well-organised and highly motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly and dedicated Haematology & Blood Transfusion team. Our services are based over two acute hospital sites at Conquest Hospital, Hastings and Eastbourne District General Hospital - you will be based at Eastbourne District General Hospital, although some cross-site working is required.
In return, the Trust is committed to the personal and professional development of its staff at all levels.
The Department is fully automated in its analytical platform for Blood Transfusion (Ortho Vision), Coagulation (Sysmex CN6000), Special Haematology (BioRad Variant II) and Haematology (Sysmex XN1000/2000), and uses the iLab/Apex Laboratory Information system. LIMS is due to be replaced in 2027 with Winpath Enterprise.
Full 24/ hour, 7 days a week acute services are operated at both acute hospital sites. Candidates will be required to participate in the full shift rota, covering weekdays, nights and weekends after suitable training and assessment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join the team at the Microbiology laboratory in the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, based at our Royal Gwent Hospital site.
We are looking to employ a suitably qualified Biomedical Scientist, who has HCPC registration, relevant experience in Microbiology and has completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio.

Main duties of the job
The Department processes a wide variety of clinical samples using both manual and automated methodology. We cover a variety of services, such as Bacteriology, Serology, Mycology, Molecular Diagnostics and Andrology.
Molecular Microbiology is based at The Grange University Hospital (Cwmbran), Bacteriology, Virology and GU Medicine services are based at Royal Gwent Hospital (Newport) and Andrology is based Nevill Hall Hospital (Abergavenny) and you may be required to work at either site according to the demands of the service.
There will be a requirement to work evenings, night shifts, weekends and Bank holidays on a rotational basis.

Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Service (CWPS) is a well established Pathology Network in the South Midlands. The Virology and Molecular Pathology services are across two main sites; University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in Coventry and the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton.

Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a motivated, curious and technically capable Junior Data Scientist to join our expanding Data Science team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional to play a key role in developing data science solutions that support innovation and improve organisational outcomes. Working alongside experienced data scientists and engineers, you will contribute to building models and data products that drive insight and automation across the organisation.
You should have a strong foundation in programming (Python or R), with experience using data science libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn or similar. A good understanding of statistical methods and machine learning concepts is essential. Experience working with SQL and handling data in cloud or distributed environments would be advantageous, as would familiarity with tools such as Git, Docker or ML frameworks.
The post requires the successful candidate to be inquisitive, methodical and eager to develop their technical expertise. You should be comfortable working with ambiguity, able to experiment and iterate, and capable of communicating technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders. Flexibility, problem-solving ability and a passion for data science are key to success in this role.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will support the development, testing and deployment of machine learning models, working with large and complex datasets from a variety of sources. You will be involved in data exploration, feature engineering and model evaluation, helping to translate data into actionable intelligence. The role will also contribute to the creation of reproducible workflows and scalable data pipelines.
