An experienced healthcare practitioner with proven leadership skills and experience working in Ophthalmology. They will support the Ophthalmology teams in medical Retina and Glaucoma whilst developing their own advanced clinical assessment skills, including assessment of patients, diagnostic skills and understanding of investigations. They will demonstrate safe, critical decision-making in the clinical decision-making process and will work collaboratively with consultants and multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedure. you will work to ensure wherever possible that junior medical staff are enabled to meet their training and development requirements. Local requirements for advanced clinical practice must be met or worked towards.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience of managing Medical Retina and Glaucoma. Please note this is not a training post.

Main duties of the job

• Assess, differentially diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate individual treatment/interventions.
• Prescribes independently (where legally permitted) or uses PGDs to review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice, national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice to optimise treatment.
• Prioritises own and medical team's workload and ensures effective time-management strategies are embedded within the culture of the team.
• Works effectively with others to clearly define values, direction and policies impacting upon care delivery
• Maintain effective communication within the Ophthalmology department ensuring active participation with senior nursing and medical team members and provide effective communication between the roles.
• Compile reports following patient procedures and maintain complete and accurate patient records, ensuring accurate data input into computerised systems. Ensure accurate patient documentation, communicating any deviation from normal clinical progress to appropriate consultant for evaluation.
• In partnership with other clinical teams, collaborate in improving the quality of health care responding to local and national policies and initiatives as appropriate, and assessing the impact.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Coagulation section within Haematology, Blood Sciences at University Hospitals Dorset. We are seeking a professional, reliable and proactive individual to become part of our friendly, high-performing team. Based primarily at the Dorset Pathology Hub at Royal Bournemouth Hospital, with occasional support at Poole Hospital, you will join a modern, UKAS-accredited and IBMS-approved training laboratory providing a comprehensive diagnostic service across Dorset.

As an HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist, you will support the clinical haemophilia, haemostasis and thrombosis service, performing and interpreting a wide range of specialised coagulation investigations. Using advanced analytical equipment and specialist knowledge, you will contribute to the diagnosis and management of patients with bleeding and thrombotic disorders, authorise results in line with agreed protocols, and help ensure the delivery of a high-quality, efficient diagnostic service. You will also play an active role in maintaining compliance with UKAS ISO 15189 standards and supporting continuous service improvement.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will have a BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent, be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a BMS, have completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio (Haematology and Transfusion) or have equivalent, proven experience at Band 6 level in Haematology/ Coagulation. Evidence of Continual Professional Development (CPD) will be expected to be demonstrated at interview.

The Coagulation department is well equipped with Stago Sta R Max coagulation analysers along with a Quantra and a Thrombo-Aggregometer TA-8V. Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic and adaptable HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to become a valuable member of the UK NEQAS General Haematology scientific team.

Under the direct supervision of the Scheme Service Manager, your role will involve ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and professional delivery of services within the UK NEQAS Haematology program.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Aseptic Services team as a Pharmacy or Science Manufacturing Technician. The Christie NHS Trust's Aseptic Services Unit is a world leader in phase one clinical trial material production, supporting hundreds of Clinical Trials, Early Access Medicines, Free of Charge products and Compassionate Use schemes.

We seek a motivated individual with strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills. You will join a dynamic team producing injectable medicines for cancer patients, taking part in and supervising aseptic production in cleanrooms with five negative-pressure isolators. You will also support Highly Specialist Technicians with daily operations, staff management, stock control and Quality Assurance.

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join the flow cytometry team at the Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service (HMDS), St James Hospital, Leeds with a focus on haemato-oncology molecular work. This is an opportunity to become part of a highly successful department with extensive facilities and high levels of scientific expertise. This is a great opportunity for someone with a haematology/immunology background to gain specialised experience in an exciting field. The flow cytometry team contribute directly to diagnosing leukaemias and other malignancies and the role offers significant learning opportunities. The post holders will work alongside laboratory based Biomedical Scientists, other advanced Biomedical Scientists, Clinical Scientists and Consultant Haematologist/Haematopathologists to maintain and develop the service.

Main duties of the job

HMDS provides a specialist service for the diagnosis of leukaemia and lymphoma for a number of patients in North, West and East Yorkshire together with patients from outside the region and those enrolled on national clinical trials. The laboratory is UKAS ISO 15189:2012 accredited and is one of the largest of its type in the United Kingdom with a high throughput of specimens including lymph nodes, bone marrow trephine biopsies and tissue biopsies together with peripheral blood and bone marrow aspirates. These specimens are investigated by a wide range of techniques, including flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, fluorescent in situ hybridisation and molecular biology. The laboratory is also very active in research and delivers central laboratory services for many national and international clinical trials. The main duties of this role will be to support BMS staff in providing analysis of specimens received using complex diagnostic procedures across Cellular Pathology. Other duties include microtomy and assisting the Specialist Biomedical Scientist and consultants at dissection.

Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute.
