Job summary
Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (Band 7/8a) Perinatal Mental Health Service - Community post - Birmingham. 12 month fixed term contract. 32 hours/week
- To provide a high-quality specialist clinical psychology service within the Community Perinatal Mental Health Team to address the psychological needs of perinatal patients.
- To provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering supervision, advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, nonprofessional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
- To utilise skills for clinical and service audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
Main duties of the job
The main clinical work undertaken is to provide specialist psychological assessment and intervention for mothers and their babies and families in the community. You will work with women with moderate to severe mental health difficulties, including birth trauma, parent-infant work and OCD and depression. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to our service wide group programme.
The role will also involve contributing to the supervision of psychology trainees or psychology assistants working in the community setting. The post holder will act as a member of the MDT, attend meetings and offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to team colleagues.

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) position in the highly specialised inpatient eating disorder service based at the Barberry [Cilantro].
The individual will work alongside the qualified occupational therapist in facilitating group and 1-1 sessions. Hours would predominantly be 8.30 -4.30 Monday to Friday but with some occasional requirement to work flexibly either on the weekend or evening to support activity provision.
Working as a key member of the team you will work closely with the ward Occupational Therapist to deliver the OT service which will include delivery of OT assessments and interventions which may be in the format of group or 1-1 work.
You will work with the therapy team in delivering or co-facilitating elements of the group programme this will include meaningful activity to promote the health, wellbeing and functional abilities of patients on the ward, as part of their overall multidisciplinary care plan. You will demonstrate adherence to the Trust Values and operating as a member of the team, service, and organisation.
The role will require working on the unit and with individuals' accessing local community resources which supports the use of activity to aid recovery and enable a timely and sustained discharge. It is important that you can work dynamically and be able to think of creative and new ideas and demonstrate enthusiasm for working in this very specialised area.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible under the direction of the qualified OT in the provision of elements of the OT process including assessments and interventions.
Other core duties include planning, preparing and facilitating elements of the therapeutic group programme this will also be under the direction of the OT and therapy team

Job summary
We are looking for a Band 6 occupational therapist to work within the inpatient eating disorder inpatient service
at the Barberry National Centre for Mental Health. The post is full time, for 37.5 hours per week.
This will be an ideal opportunity for someone with a passion for specialising in the area of inpatient eating disorders to gain new knowledge, skills and broaden their experience in this specialist service.
The post offers opportunity to work on the inpatient ward developing clinical OT assessment and intervention skills and input into a multi disciplinary team group programme. The role will also include the supervision of an OT assistant, and regular expectation to facilitate student placements.
Main duties of the job

Job summary
The Perinatal Mental Health Service provides Multi-disciplinary specialised care throughout the West Midlands, to treat mothers with mental health problems, both during pregnancy and in the first year post-partum. There is also community outreach team as well as 10 inpatient bedded Unit at the Barberry. The NHS Long Term Plan (LTP) will see perinatal services expanding its remit to seeing approx. 10% of the birth rate, seeing women for up to 2 years postnatally.
Solihull Perinatal Team provide specialist perinatal service for women living in the Solihull Borough or with a Solihull GP, who are experiencing moderate to severe mental illness during the perinatal period.
We are seeking an additional mental health practitioner from a nursing or social work background to provide maternity cover for a period of 12 months to contribute their clinical skills and care coordinate a specialist caseload.
Main duties of the job
Applicants will need to have a genuine interest in working with women and families in the perinatal period, have excellent communication and multi-agency liaison skills and a have good knowledge of safeguarding. Experience of working in the Perinatal Mental Health field is desirable but not essential. The Women's Secure Blended Service (WSBS) at Ardenleigh has an incredible national reputation, having been a successful pilot site for the blended security model and a key influence in the National Women's Secure Pathway Transformation (WSPT) programme. The service is particularly proud of its gender sensitive, trauma informed model of care and commitment to co-production and improvement.
We work alongside a number of professionals, providing safe, containing environments and interventions to help people understand themselves, their mental health and offending behaviour. The team has been at the forefront of service developments, such as establishing the Outreach Service to prevent avoidable admissions, developing partnership working across the pathway to improve quality of care, diversifying psychological therapies to meet the needs of the client group, and leading on the planning and delivery of a national conference in 2023. The service is currently developing a step-down accommodation to support transitions to the community, improving the pathway for women who access secure mental health services.
Main duties of the job
This exciting role offers the suitable candidate opportunities for leadership, service development and complex clinical work, with a rewarding client group. You will be joining a large and diverse psychological therapies team, consisting of clinical and forensic psychologists, arts therapists, specialist psychological practitioners and assistant psychologists.
We currently have a 0.7wte team psychologist vacancy but if you are looking for a full-time role, please do get in touch and we can look to accommodate this within the division.
The Practitioner Psychologist role will involve working alongside staff to ensure that service users have the most effective, efficient, relationally connected and contained experience. Within Ardenleigh we also have a strong service user involvement and co-production ethos, having developed group pathways, interventions and training. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of a multidisciplinary team based at one of our hospitals in Birmingham. You will form part of an expanding Speech and Language Therapy service dedicated to supporting the communication needs of clients who present with mental health needs. Our hospital provide assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for service users with mental health needs.
As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively alongside colleagues from Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing etc. A wide range of training opportunities relevant to the role will be available.
You will receive support by senior Speech and Language Therapists ensuring the successful candidate has the relevant skills work to within a mental health setting.
The post is fixed term for 12 months, no weekend working, flexible working requests considered up to 37.5 hours. Secondments requests will be considered.
This post would suit an applicant who has a genuine interest in working with adults who present with complex mental health and communication needs and would enjoy working in a dynamic environment.
Main duties of the job
The role will be varied and include transferable assessment and intervention skills, planning and implementing evidence-based practice, reviewing and evaluating therapy using therapy outcome measures, provide advice to other professionals regarding the management of clients with communication needs, modifying materials, attending and contributing to clinical team meetings, report writing and completing administrative\managerial tasks relevant to the role.

Our hospital locations are Reaside clinic and Hillis Lodge which are secure units for men.

Job summary
Working predominantly at the Barberry Centre, at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT), the post-holder will support the Lead Research Nurse in delivering high quality clininal research trial and Research Clinics within a range of exciting specialties, including Mood Disorders, Epilepsy, Psychosis, Huntington Disease and other Mental Health Trials. For any assigned project, they will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical studies. This will involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data, including the collection and preparation of samples. You will work collaboratively with the research delivery team and the wider multi-disciplinary team in the management of your own caseload of clinical trial patients. The role involves using an in-depth knowledge of trial protocols and their application in practice, alongside a working knowledge and compliance with the local, national and international research regulations and nursing framework.
This post would suit someone who has a strong clinical background with some clinical research experience or a desire and passion to enter the world of clinical research. They would need to be enthusiastic, organised, methodical and have a keen eye for detail.
Main duties of the job
- Coordinate the care of your own case load of trial patients
- Ensure the safe administration of treatments given within the context of a clinical trial
- Take clinical samples for studies and prepare samples for collection and dispatch to relevant departments or research centres
- To ensure that trial specific investigations are undertaken as required by the research protocol
- To act appropriately to report and record serious adverse events, this includes communication with the Principal Investigator and relevant local personnel and regulatory authorities
- To provide on-going follow up care whilst patient is in the clinical trial
- Act at all times in a way that maintains patients' and carers' dignity
- Act as first point of contact for own portfolio of clinical trials for sponsors, CROs and RECs

Dawn House is part of the Women's Secure Blended Service (WSBS), and this new step-down projectaims to help women build confidence, independence and stability as they prepare for community living. The role involves offering support with daily living skills, meaningful activities, emotional wellbeing, medication self-management and community integration. The post holder will use a trauma-informed approach and will work closely with inpatientstaff at Ardenleigh, ANAWIM, and other partner agencies to help create a smooth transition from hospital to community.

Main duties of the job
Assist in supporting women with complex needs as they transition from secure inpatient care into a community residential environment. Working under the guidance of senior staff, you will contribute to the assessment of needs, the implementation and review of personalised support plans, and the promotion of independence through daily living skills, wellbeing activities and community engagement. You will build therapeutic, trauma-informed relationships that encourage confidence, recoveryand integration into the community. Job summary
We are looking to appoint an individual to be part of the team providing effective and efficient functioning of the safety and security systems within the reception control room.
You will be recruited to support Tamarind Centre which is a Medium Secure Unit. Whilst you will be based in one our three MSUs you may need to support the other MSU sites within Birmingham. You will be expected to meet high standards of physical, relational and procedural security within our medium secure mental health service.
Act as the first point of contact for all visitors and service users to the secure services as well as responding to all telephone enquiries appropriately, whilst portraying themselves in a manner, which positively reflects the values of the organisation and in a way, which will ensure that effective customer care exists with internal and external stakeholders.
The reception control room staff will be required to work a variety of shift patterns to cover the 24-hour time frame usually as part of a team, or as a lone worker with support from staff within the building. This will include the requirement to work at night and during unsocial hours at weekends and on bank holidays.
The post holder will need to undertake training and qualify as a first aider so as to provide 24-hour first aid coverage throughout the service.
Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of the reception control room manager the post holder will be responsible for the provision of a quality customer care service to all visitors, employees and service users contacting or visiting the service.
The post holder will be required to ensure that the integrity of the safety and security provisions are maintained and appropriate procedures are adhered to in the event of a security breach or safety related incident such as fire or medical emergency and that all security equipment is maintained and accounted for.
Act as the main point of contact for all visitors to the Secure and Complex Care Programme locations.
The post holder will demonstrate adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning, proactively acquiring new skills and embracing emerging technologies as service needs evolve.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Band 8a, 1.0 WTE) to help shape and deliver psychologically-informed care in our 24/7 recovery house service--a short-stay alternative to hospital admission for adults experiencing acute mental health distress.Working flexibly within a multidisciplinary team, you'll provide trauma-informed assessments, brief interventions, and psychological leadership in a recovery-focused, inclusive environment that centres lived experience and cultural safety.
Recovery House (RH)is a new and innovative service we are launching that meets an important need for people(18+)experiencing poor mental health. The RH will provide those in crisis with a safe, secure and welcoming environment to support the de-escalation of crisis. The House will be open to new and existing BSMHFT service users and will provide a homely environment, allowing people to retain independence, whilst receiving person centred and appropriate care.
The service which is part of the Trust's Urgent Care pathway is a partnership with Birmingham Mind and builds on the range of strong collaborations we have with the voluntary sector.
The RH will serve as a base for community integration, allowing service users to connect with local communities and provision, as well as their family/carers.
Main duties of the job

o Provide psychological formulations and short-term interventions (CBT, trauma-informed approaches)
o Supervise and develop an Assistant Psychologist, colleagues in the team and support workers

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Receptionist/Administrator to work within the Yewcroft Community Mental Health Team.
Our CMHT's provide assessment, specialist support, treatment and care planning for service users with functional mental health problems such as depression and psychotic mental illness. The service is multidisciplinary and operates within an integrated hub alongside other services.
As receptionist/administrator you will be the first point of contact for patients/staff and visitors to the building and it is essential that you present in a friendly and approachable manner.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake a wide range of reception and administrative duties. These will include the monitoring, recording and booking of appointments and managing a busy telephone line, the receiving of all incoming mail and ensuring action is taken appropriately, processing clinical letters and other correspondence.
You will work in conjunction with other team members; ensuring administrative support is available to all members of the Hub. This will include liaison with multi-disciplinary team members, other health professionals, GP's, social workers, service users, and other appropriate agencies.
It is essential that applicants are able to work on their own initiative, demonstrate effective organisational and administrative skills.

Job summary
These posts provide outstanding research and career development opportunities for registered dietitians with an interest in mental health to be part of the delivery of the Wellcome-funded ENERGISE-BD clinical trial.
The ENERGISE-BD trial (Evaluating Nutritional Ketosis versus NHS EatWell Recommended Guidelines for Bipolar Disorder) is a randomised controlled trial for bipolar depression. It will compare the efficacy of nutritional ketosis approach with the NHS EatWell dietary guidelines.
Main duties of the job
Contribute as a key member of a team of researchers, alongside a Senior Dietitian (Jude Munn), recruiting patients and guiding these patients on the two dietary interventions being tested in this study and other clinical research (70% of time)
Collecting data on participants in the study, specifically relating to progress with delivering both of the nutritional interventions (10%)
Providing day-to-day supervision and support to other members of the ENERGISE-BD team, including a postdoctoral researcher and a clinical research fellow (5% of time).
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to document recruitment progress and present progress reporting data at management group meetings (5%).
Contribute to the presentation of research findings at national and international level conferences (if appropriate) (5% of time)
Maintain clinical skills by participation in continuing professional development (for example on the flexible delivery of nutritional ketosis approaches), as agreed with line manager (5% of time).

Joining us a B6 CPN you will be part of a large multi-disciplinary service 80+ staff supporting transition of patient care from secure settings into the community, which feeds into various sites including Reaside, Ardenleigh, Tamarind, St Andrews and Hillis Lodge (Low Secure) and Elliot House (Approved Premises). We offer extensive support to staff in their role as CC which includes supervision, reflective practice, art therapy, autism support and case-busting sessions. We also provide flexible working patterns which includes working from home when needed, pool cars are also available for community visits. FIRST is a standalone service providing our own home treatment and crisis community support to our service users; our CPN's and SW's are on a rota to jointly provide cover for on call shifts (approx. 4 times per month) with support from On Call RC during evenings, weekends and bank holidays so that we can respond to urgent situations by telephone and complete home visits in emergencies (standby on call payments and overtime are payable).
Main duties of the job
To undertake the duties of care coordinator in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care and treatment needs for a defined group of services users accessing Forensic Intensive Recovery Support Team (FIRST). To provide professional advice and support to other stakeholders involved in service users care which may include families, carers and care agencies, accommodation and housing providers, probation and criminal justice colleagues. To undertake a multi-disciplinary approach to care and working collaboratively with members of the team which may include Responsible Clinician, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Support Time And Recovery Worker (STAR), Specialist Substance Misuse Workers, and Peer Mentors. To support colleagues when required with day-to-day tasks and act as a role model and resource to Band 5 CPN's in the team and student nurses. To advocate for the client group we work with whilst promoting a culture of recovery and optimism.

Main duties of the job
The senior PWP role involves supporting both qualified PWP's and those in their training as apprentice/trainee PWP's. You will work together with the senior PWP's and management team to create a supportive environment for the step 2 team. You will be supported by your fellow senior PWPs, as well as a Step 2 lead and your team manager.
You will support with the organisation and facilitation of our community events calendar. As well as taking a lead in one of our champion roles, in which you will oversee and manage the projects happening within this area of expertise.
The role requires someone who its reliable, with a flexible approach; working closely with PWP's who have differing requirements to ensure they continue to offer evidence based low intensity CBT based interventions to the Birmingham population, while keeping in mind the low intensity, high volume nature of the PWP post.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to join our Neighbourhood Mental Health Team working within the Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in west Birmingham.
Within BSMHFT our community mental health services are well-established and as part of the BSOL community transformation programme, we are looking to increase our primary care teams with primary care practitioner roles. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of national change and developments in the delivery of community mental health care. The development of our Neighbourhood mental health team is an essential service which we are in the process of evolving in line with the NHS Long Term Plan.
We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who are able to work within a multi- disciplinary team, working alongside GP's and other primary care professionals who strive to achieve the best outcomes for individuals within the local community.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing mental health triage, assessment and outcomes-based intervention to meet service user's needs within the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team.
You will be responsible for identifying need and best course of advice, support or intervention, promoting psychosocial wellbeing by identifying and then supporting pathways for service users and carers.
Crucial to this role will be your ability toensure robust communication across mental health providers, VCSE organisations and primary care in accordance with each individual service users needs by provide support and advice to all colleagues with the PCN as required including participation within the local neighbourhood MDT's.
