Job summary
There are two apprenticeships available, one based at Sunderland Hospital and one based at South Tyneside Hospital. Support service installations and their maintenance are an essential part of the NHS and form a vital link in Health Care Provision. An exciting and challenging position have arisen for Level 3 Apprenticeships in Multi Skilled Engineering which will require the individual to learn and study both aspects of electrical and mechanical engineering. Employed by CHoICE, a wholly owned company of the South Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, the successful applicant will work towards the completion of a tailored training plan in partnership with the Northern & Yorkshire NHS Assessment Centre (NYNHSAS).
As part of the apprenticeship, the successful applicant will be released to attend college to allow them to study for the technical knowledge aspect of the apprenticeship, it is typical that this is achieved over one day / evening per week for the first two years of the role. Practical basic skills training will be achieved via block release for approximately 8 months during the first year of the apprenticeship, which once achieved, will allow the apprentice to commence training towards their End Point Assessment to achieve their full Apprenticeship Standard which will take place within the Employing organisation and NYNHSAC.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will attend a College to study for the technical knowledge aspect of the apprenticeship for example one day / evening a week for the first two years and practical basic skills training as a block release for approximately 8 months. Once this has been achieved, the applicant will then commence training towards their End Point Assessment to achieve the required full Apprenticeship Standard, this will typically take place within the Employing organisation and NYNHSAC.
The apprenticeship will potentially commence early 2027 subject to all necessary funding and employment checks being carried out, including a colour blindness test. Qualifications acceptable on entry are usually a minimum of GCSE at Grade B / 5 in Mathematics and Grade C / 4, or equivalent, in at least 4 other subjects to include a science based subject.

Main duties of the job
To carry out all cleaning assigned, making full use of guidance and training given, using checklists provided.
Provide a beverage service to patients and visitors as required.
Ensure all necessary equipment/machinery is fit for purpose before use and ensure is cleaned and correctly stored after use.
Use all materials and consumables in accordance with laid down practices.
Collection, segregation and disposal of waste materials, replacement of liners, in accordance with policies.
Packing, sorting, delivering and collection of linen.
Undertake manual and mechanical cleaning activities in accordance with the cleaning schedule.
Ensure that all cleaning schedules are completed and checked on a daily basis.
Refilling of all dispensers including soap, hand towels, toilet rolls and all paper rolls
Provide emergency and ad hoc cleaning as required.
Cleaning in close proximity to patients including beds, windows, curtain rails, window ledges, tables and lockers.
Work safely at all times giving due consideration to themselves and others.
Use the appropriate work equipment and PPE provided, reporting any maintenance, safety deficiencies and incidents to a member of the supervisory team
Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
Maintaining cleanliness of entrances, work areas and grounds as necessary

As a Ward Host you would be responsible for assisting clinical staff in the efficient and effective production & service of a high quality of meals & beverages on several wards, for patients, staff and visitors, including associated cleaning and hygiene related duties. Main duties of the job
General duties of a Catering Assistant (Ward Host) role include;
Distribution, delivery and service of food and beverages to wards and departments.
To follow food & beverage handling procedures, in accordance with national and local regulations.
Undertake stock management, receipt and delivery of stock, reporting any discrepancies or damaged goods to Supervisors. Record food temperatures and food waste before and after service
Maintain the appropriate knowledge and skills to safely and effectively perform all food & beverage tasks.
Maintain a clean, tidy and hygienic appearance. Ensuring that the appropriate protective clothing is worn at all times.
Ensuring all equipment, working areas, including storerooms, refrigerators and freezers are kept in a clean and hygienic condition and that good hygienic practices are established and maintained at all times.
Carry out any other duties which are deemed reasonable and in line with the banding of the post.
Providing a food and beverage service including catering for special events to patient, staff and visitors.
Preparing, assembling and packing meals for patients and staff.
Collection, segregation and disposal of waste materials, in accordance with policies.
Shift pattern consists of;
16 hours per week 4.00pm -8.00pm Monday -Thursday
Or
12 hours per week 4.00pm -8.00pm Friday- Sunday

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, conscientious and dedicated maintenance craftsperson (Mechanical) to join a team of engineering craftsperson responsible for the maintenance and repair of mechanical plant and equipment at buildings maintained by CHoICE Facilities Services. The role will require the post holder to undertake the role of Competent Person (CP) as defined within Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 00 for multiple engineer services and support CHoICE to meet its statutory, mandatory and best practice commitments to its existing partners.
As part of the role, the post holder will be required to be flexible and have a wide ranging knowledge of mechanical systems to ensure maintenance, repair and installation activities can be completed in the most efficient and effective manner whilst providing the best possible services. As part of a highly diverse role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to operate and maintain large scale mechanical system which includes: AHUs, LTHW systems, steam plant, pressure systems, medical gas system, refrigeration plant and BMS control.
The role will also require participation within the current on-call rota and undertake overtime when the service needs dictate for which appropriate payments will be made.
Main duties of the job
All applicants must have a positive, friendly and co-operative manner whilst being prepared to be flexible to meet the service needs of the Trust. The role will require the applicant to use their own initiative when undertaking a range of problem-solving scenarios to allow for a satisfactory outcome whilst adapting to the changing demands of the role. Furthermore, the post holder will be required to provide technical advice, guidance and where necessary supervision to other CFS staff, contractors and Trust colleagues alike.
Successful applicants will need to have a knowledge of electrical systems with a detailed knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems typically found within an NHS Trust. Completion of a City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in mechanical engineering or equivalent is essential as well as the completion of a formally recognised, relevant and accredited apprenticeship.
Expected earnings is not intended to provide a guarantee of earnings.
The base salary is £34,216 -£41,658. However, as the role will require the participation within an on call rota, shift rota and require the completion of overtime (call outs / planned / Emergency) additional monetary rewards will be generated as part of the role.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, conscientious and dedicated Higher Clerical Officer to join the Engineering and Building Facilities Management Team which manages all reactive and planned works at sites within the CHoICE Management portfolio. Main duties of the job

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated, conscientious and dedicated Estates Officer (Electrical & Controls) to join our team of specialist engineering managers supporting multiple hospital sites.
You will ensure that all electrical and controls maintenance, installation and contract works are planned, reviewed and delivered safely and to high professional standards. Job summary
Support service installations and their maintenance are an essential part of the NHS and form a vital link in Health Care Provision. A varied, exciting and challenging position have arisen for Level 3 Apprenticeships in Medical Electronic Engineering. Employed by CHoICE, a wholly owned company of the South Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, you will study towards and completion of the Healthcare Engineering Specialist Technician (option 1) apprentice standard through a tailored training plan in partnership with the Northern & Yorkshire NHS Assessment Centre (NYNHSAS).
The precise details of any of the apprenticeship are dependent on several factors that may be subject to change at various stages of the training and qualifications already obtained, however, the information below will provide an overview of the envisaged training requirements of the apprenticeship.
The successful applicant will be released to college to allow them to study for the technical knowledge aspect of the apprenticeship, it is typical that this is achieved over one day / evening per week for the first two years of the role. Practical basic skills training will be achieved via block release for approximately 8 months during the first year of the apprenticeship, which once achieved, will allow the apprentice to commence training towards their End Point Assessment to achieve their full Apprenticeship Standard which will take place within the Employing organisation and NYNHSAC.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will attend a College to study for the technical knowledge aspect of the apprenticeship for example one day / evening a week for the first two years and practical basic skills training as a block release for approximately 8 months. Once this has been achieved, the applicant will then commence training towards their End Point Assessment to achieve the required full Apprenticeship Standard, this will typically take place within the Employing organisation and NYNHSAC.
The apprenticeship will potentially commence early 2027 subject to all necessary funding and employment checks being carried out, including a colour blindness test. Qualifications acceptable on entry are usually a minimum of GCSE at Grade B / 5 in Mathematics and Grade C / 4, or equivalent, in at least 4 other subjects to include a science based subject.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a successful candidate to join CHoICE Facilities Services in the position of Maintenance Craftsperson (Joiner). Providing services on behalf of South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, CHoICE is an independent wholly owned subsidiary company which provides all hard and soft facility services at South Tyneside Hospital and associated sites.
The successful applicant will join a team of existing Building Maintenance staff directly employed to form part of the Estates Hard FM services within CHoICE. The Team provides planned/reactive building maintenance activities as well as undertaking minor building related installations and building related minor works services.
The base salary range for this role is £30,290 to £33,232 and is based on current employees. However, as the role will requires flexibility with regard to overtime, either as a result of emergencies or during planned occurrences to meet the needs of the service CFS provides, additional monetary rewards will be generated as part of this role.
The expected earnings presented within this advert have been established from actual earnings earned within the financial year 2024/25 and are based upon similar roles within the organisation. The additional earnings are based upon an obtained average, and it will be typical to earn approximately this amount.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant must have a detailed understanding of construction processes in relation to joinery and other related building works in accordance with relevant statutory and mandatory legislation and best practice guidance. He/she must also be able to provide evidence of the completion/obtainment of recognised relevant joinery apprenticeship and ideally will have gained maintenance experience within a healthcare environment or similar although this is not essential.
You will be expected to receive identified workloads on a handheld device from the Hard FM Help Desk and be expected to organise and prioritise these daily activities to ensure the tasks are completed in the most efficient and effective manner. Support and guidance will be provided where necessary to ensure CHoICE can fulfil its statutory and mandatory obligations.
The role will also require the individual to have a flexible and positive approach to all activities and have the ability to deal with new scenarios/tasks as they arise. The role will furthermore require excellent communication skills and will require liaison directly with clinical and non-clinical staff and service users.

Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Choice Procurement Services at a pivotal time in our journey. Following a service redesign and the launch of our Procurement Strategy, we are introducing a clinically-led procurement model that places patient safety, clinical effectiveness and value at the heart of procurement decision-making.
As our Senior Clinical Procurement Manager, you will play a unique leadership role, bridging the gap between clinical practice and commercial operations. Working alongside clinicians, procurement professionals and senior leaders, you will help shape how clinical goods, services and equipment are selected, evaluated and procured across the organisation.
This is an opportunity to drive meaningful change, supporting product standardisation, clinical engagement, service improvement and cost efficiency whilst ensuring patient safety and quality remain the primary focus. You will influence strategic decisions, lead complex procurement programmes and help embed a culture of evidence-based, clinically informed decision-making.

Main duties of the job
Join a newly restructured procurement service at an exciting stage of development as we implement our Procurement Strategy and strengthen the role of clinical leadership within procurement. You will be part of a forward-thinking team committed to delivering safe, effective and sustainable procurement solutions that support patient care and organisational objectives.
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with substantial post-registration experience and a track record of influencing clinical practice, product selection, service improvement or change programmes. Experience of working across complex stakeholder groups and balancing clinical, operational and financial priorities is essential.
You will be a credible and confident leader with strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills. You will be comfortable applying clinical expertise in a commercial environment, using evidence, professional judgement and patient safety principles to support decision-making.
