Job summary

An opportunity has arisen within the Planned Care Division for a MedicalSecretary. The post holder will work in the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department within The Countess of Chester Hospital. In this role the post holder will provide secretarial and administrative support to the Consultants and wider team.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to provide a high standard of audio typing / clerical support. The successful candidate must be able to work using their own initiative, but also as part of a team.
Excellent communication and administrative skills are essential for this role, along with a keen eye for accuracy and detail. Organisational skills are also essential. Consultant diaries and associated clinical activity must be kept up to date to ensure the service we provide to our patients runs smoothly and efficiently.
A working knowledge of general office procedures and Microsoft packages is required, but full training will be given in the use of Medisec and EPR+ software. Knowledge of medical terminology also would be an advantage
Main duties of the job
You will contribute and commit to promoting a positive team-based attitude, striving for the highest standards of service and achieving excellence by providing a comprehensive secretarial service and administration support to the Team.
You will be expected to work with minimum supervision but within a close-knit team. All work must be carried out in a timely and accurate manner, with confidentiality being maintained at all times.
Some of the main duties of the job include organising the clinical diaries, typing clinic letters and arranging clinic appointments, all whilst maintaining the highest standard of care.

The Trust's services are provided from three locations: o The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds. o Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility. o Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population. The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust employs 5,964 staff (headcount) to provide care and treatment to a population of over 400,000 people living in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire. Main duties of the job

The phlebotomy team provides essential services both within the Trust and the wider health care community. The Phlebotomy team covers weekend duties on a rotational basis; therefore flexibility of the successful candidate is essential.
Main duties of the job
- Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
- Collection of samples(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures
- Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity.
- Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible
- Recording collection of blood sample via electronic method
- Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join one of our Community Response Hubs covering Cheshire West and Chester.
Based in a community setting, you will be part of a large team providing care and support to service users within their own homes.

Join our team and embark on an exciting career journey as an MSK Consultant Radiologist at The Countess of Chester Hospital.
The Radiology Directorate is part of the Diagnostic and Clinical Support Services Division. The directorate provides a diagnostic imaging service to inpatients and outpatient services across two sites: Countess of Chester Hospital and Ellesmere Port Hospital. In addition, the department provides a GP direct access service for plain film, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI. The Trust is also the South of Mersey Vascular centre (SMart Centre) providing a networked vascular service for Chester, Warrington and Wirral patients.
The Countess of Chester Hospital has consistently invested within the Radiology department and has ensured that the environment and the equipment meet the needs of a modern, changing diagnostic service. Our latest developments being, our replacement Interventional Radiology suite with built in floor space for future expansion and our new state of the art cardiac CT scanner.
The Countess of Chester site has 3 CT scanners (1 cardiac scanner) and 2 1.5T MRI scanners. The department has a suite of ultrasound scanners. The general department is fully digital, including wireless portable equipment. The department performs approximately 15,500 MRI scans, 30,000 CT scans, 2,000 Interventional procedures and 31,000 ultrasound scans per year.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to integrate into the team of existing Consultants to provide a complete diagnostic service including the reporting of MSK, CT, MRI, ultrasound and plain films.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking to appoint a Band 3 Infection Prevention and Control Support Worker, to be based at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, also involving travel to our second site at Ellesmere Port Hospital.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, hardworking, registered Technicians to join our expanding Pharmacy Team. We are looking for Technicians who are motivated and keen to develop their skills as part of an integrated team. Our qualified staff are expected to have a positive work ethic, be flexible and reliable.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to further their skills by completing a BTEC level 4 ACT Qualification. As part of our integrated team, there will be opportunities to work on wards within the main hospital performing top ups and ordering medications for inpatients.
High levels of accuracy are essential as well as the ability to work well under pressure. We are looking for individuals who are confident, have excellent communication and organisation skills and who can use their own initiative to provide a safe and effective service to our patients.
Dispensary based duties will include preparation, dispensing, and supply of medications to a variety of patients. You will be expected to have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to counsel patients effectively. We expect our technicians to co-operate with all Pharmacy Staff in providing and developing an efficient and comprehensive Pharmaceutical Service under the direction of Senior Pharmacy Management for all patients treated by The Countess of Chester Foundation Trust.

- To carry out accurately and efficiently the dispensing of prescriptions, including unlicensed and namedpatient medication, oral cytotoxic medication, controlled drugs and Patient's own medication inaccordance with the agreed safe systems of work practice and current medicines legislation
- To input and maintain accurate computer and register records for controlled drugs, unlicensed drugs and named-patient medication according to departmental procedures
- To dispense clinical trials in accordance with the dispensing protocol, ICH GCP guidelines and European Directive and under the supervision of the clinical trials technician/pharmacist
- Calculate formulae for all extemporaneously prepared medicines using manual methods in accordance with safe dispensing practice and standard operating procedures

As a lead specialist nurse in Lung Cancer the post holder will be an identified key worker for a patient caseload, accepting referrals to agreed criteria, co-ordinating treatment and care, practicing autonomously as a core member of the Lung Cancer team.

- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), consultants, GPs, community services and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient-centred care.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the multi-disciplinary Diabetes Service at the Countess of Chester NHS trust.
The Lead Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) for Insulin Pump and Hybrid Closed-Loop Systems will provide specialist clinical leadership, expertise and support in the delivery and development of advanced diabetes technologies across the diabetes service.
The post holder will have responsibility for leading and developing the insulin pump and hybrid closed-loop service, ensuring that patients with Type 1 diabetes receive safe, evidence-based, person-centred care. The role will involve supporting patients commencing insulin pump therapy, optimising existing therapy, and providing ongoing education and clinical support to patients using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), insulin pumps and hybrid closed-loop systems.
Working as an integral member of the multidisciplinary diabetes team, the post holder will contribute to the strategic development of the diabetes technology service and ensure that it remains responsive to the changing needs of patients and advances in diabetes technology.
Main duties of the job
Provide specialist nursing leadership and clinical expertise in insulin pump therapy and hybrid closed-loop systems. Provide specialist advice during periods of illness. Lead the development and expansion of the insulin pump and hybrid closed-loop service. Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent and integrated care. Provide specialist education to patients and families regarding insulin pump therapy, CGM and hybrid closed-loop systems. Ensure practice is compliant with current national guidelines, professional standards, Trust policies and local diabetes pathways. Maintain a high level of clinical competence and professional accountability. Participate in clinical audit, research, service evaluation and quality-improvement activity. Provide specialist advice and education to members of the multidisciplinary team regarding diabetes technology. Contribute to multidisciplinary case discussions and complex patient reviews. Communicate complex clinical and technical information clearly to patients, relatives and healthcare professionals. Manage sensitive and difficult conversations appropriately.Advocate for patients and ensure that their preferences and individual circumstances are considered in clinical decision-making. Demonstrate a high level of IT competence and confidence in using diabetes technology platforms.

Patients to be admitted for surgery are seen for pre-operative assessment by the Junior Specialty Trainees/Trust Doctor one to two weeks before admission in dedicated clinics

An exciting opportunity to work within the Phlebotomy Department.
The phlebotomy team provides essential services both within the Trust and the wider health care community. This post includes working within The Countess of Chester Hospital on inpatient wards, outpatient services, as well as clinic settings. We also provide services at the located on The Chester GP Hub located at the Countess of Chester Hospital Site for GP bloods and offsite locations that include a GP Phlebotomy Hub in Ellesmere Port and ward/outpatient services in Ellesmere Port Hospital. This role includes working at all of the listed locations.
The Phlebotomy team covers weekend duties on a rotational basis; therefore, flexibility of the successful candidate is essential.
Main duties of the job
- Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
- Collection of samples(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures
- Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity.
- Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible
- Recording collection of blood sample via electronic method
- Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.
- Ensuring that anomalies or incidents are reported to a senior member of staff and reported via the Datix incident reporting system

Liaison between divisional clinicians and management teams for all coding related queries.
Proactively develop and provide regular reports for each division's clinical coding data, including but not limited to income, clinical coding accuracy, benchmarking and consultant validation.
Work with each division to provide better access to the clinical coding department and drive forward improvements in the Trust's clinical coding data, in terms of accuracy and depth of coding.
Develop a strong clinical coding presence within the organisation, to ensure constant engagement with the Trust's clinical divisions to continuously drive improvements within clinical coding.
Ensure each divisional clinical coding team has experienced, accurate and high performing clinical coders, to ensure maximum quality and required outputs are maintained by the department.

Main duties of the job
