Vacancies have arisen for morning Patient Services Assistants to join the busy Patient Services Department at QA Hospital.

Patient Services provide a comprehensive cleaning service to all wards/departments/communal areas and Residences. Ward cleaning involves communicating with patients and nursing staff to ensure that wards/departments are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.

Enthusiasm and flexibility are essential qualities required. Opportunity to multi-skill and train as a Housekeeper will be available.

This post is monthly paid, and a uniform is supplied. The successful applicants will receive a first-class training package, which incorporates on and off the job training with the use of large floor machinery. Main duties of the job

• Clean all floors, furniture, fixtures, fittings, glassware, and high and low-level surfaces in both Clinical and Non-Clinical areas.
• Carry out daily cleaning tasks, planned routine ward scrubs, and ad hoc infectious scrubs following outbreaks (e.g., MRSA, diarrhoea and vomiting, hepatitis) to help minimise bed blocking.
• Perform daily cleaning of sanitary fixtures and fittings in patient and public areas.
• Clean high and low-level areas including spot washing walls, dusting curtain tracks, radiators, window ledges, internal glass, and doorframes.
• Change window and bed curtains routinely and after infectious cleans.
• Clean patient-related furniture such as bedframes, lockers, tables, and chairs.
• Operate heavy mechanical cleaning equipment (scrubbers, wet pickups, buffers) on floors in wards, bathrooms, toilets, and corridors.
• Clean Theatres including daily scrubbing of floors and sinks, and maintenance of surrounding clean and dirty corridors according to department and Infection Control guidelines.

Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for an External Cleaner to join the Patient Services Department at QA Hospital.

SHIFT - 12.00pm to 8.00pm - Monday to Friday

Candidates will be expected to work outside in all weather conditions as part of their duties. A full uniform and any required personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.

Enthusiasm and flexibility are essential qualities required.

Patient Services provides a comprehensive cleaning service across QA Hospital. This includes the cleaning in all wards, departments, communal areas, and residential accommodation, as well as the ongoing maintanance and upkeep of the hospital grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Main duties of the job

Collection and disposal of clinical and domestic waste from the grounds and residences and other areas as directed.

The sweeping of the hospital entrances and pathways, road ways and car parks and any other areas requested on site.

Emptying of bins and replacing bin bags.

Clearance of leaf litter, cigarette Butts and other Litter from around the site.

To carry out minor maintenance tasks within the hospital grounds for which training has been provided i.e. grounds small equipment, including cleaning of this equipment.

Ability to work on own initiative, at times unsupervised and to respond to requests in a polite manner.

Lift and transport furniture, stores and stock as required, occasionally these can are very heavy desks, cabinets, and boxes.

Any other duties in accordance with the needs of the service and as detailed in the service specification.

Staff may be allocated to specific hospitals/areas of work, but will remain flexible and can be transferred at the discretion of the Patient Services Manager and Supervisors.

Excellent communication skills to defuse situations that can lead to occasional abusive or violent situations. This includes controlling and pacifying patients and relatives whilst waiting for security to attend any incident.

Carry out the movement of beds, chairs, and equipment during a Major Incident or Fire as directed.

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Housekeepers (food service) to join the busy Patient Services Department at QA Hospital.

Working hours

Monday to Friday 13:30 - 19:00, and applicants must be able to work all five days.

About the role

As a Housekeeper, you will provide a comprehensive catering service at ward level. Your responsibilities will include:

• Serving patient meals and beverages
• Washing up and maintaining the ward kitchen
• Carrying out general cleaning duties
• Providing a high standard of customer care
• Maintaining excellent hygiene standards

The role is paid monthly, and a uniform will be provided. The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive training package, including both on-the-job and off-the-job training.

Main duties of the job

• Clean and prepare food trolleys for meal services and deliver them safely to wards.
• Assisting nursing staff during managed meal times with portioning and plating food from food trolley at ward level.
• Provision where applicable of a range of catering related duties e.g. making toast, setting up and distributing patient beverages.
• Prepare and deliver ward stores and supplies to wards and departments.
• Store stock safely, securely and hygienically, including cleaning chemicals, consumables, dry and refrigerated foods, and equipment.
• Package and dispose of waste correctly in line with NHS policies, including clinical and household waste.
• Report faults or failures involving electrical equipment or the building to the appropriate team.
• Complete work schedules and associated documentation accurately.
• The post holder will follow all guidance and procedures relating to Healthcare Associated Infection to ensure their safety and that of others, to prevent the spread of infection.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Demonstrate a courteous, professional and helpful approach.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, friendly person to join the Catering Team as a Retail Catering Assistant working in B Level Restaurant and E Level Cafe.

27.5 Hours with various shifts and working 5 days over 7 days including working alternate weekends.
