Job summary
We are looking for dedicated Neonatal nurses to join nurse bank team in caring for patients on the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.
Main duties of the job
- Oversees and undertakes the assessment of neonatal patient care needs, and the planning, implementation and evaluation of care in the neonatal unit
- Responsible for ensuring care in the neonatal area is consistent with local and national policies and protocols, and leads on the use of evidence based guidance to improve clinical practice.
- Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of local and national policies and protocols
- Responsible for the safe administration, storage and ordering of drugs in the Neonatal Unit
- Responsible for health promotion and health education within Neonatal Unit
- Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ensure high standards of nursing care are maintained reflecting all aspects of the neonatal unit philosophy of care.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care for a designated group of babies and their parents.
- Act as an advocate, upholding the best interests of the neonate and family.
- Encourage practice which develops partnership with parents and maximises their contribution to the care of their babies.
- Co-ordinate the care of neonates and families with other members of the health care team across the service.
- To co-ordinates babies discharge ensuring involvement of other agencies as appropriate.
- To maintain a pleasant unit atmosphere and a clean, safe unit environment.

Job summary
To provide an effective and efficient transport service which delivers and collects items such aslaboratory specimens, post, medical records, lab stores, Pharmaceutical Products, sterile supplies, in addition to drivingstaff transportation vehicles.The post holder will need to have the ability to effectively communicate with health service colleagues.
Main duties of the job
To undertake driving duties to the required standard subject to appropriate training, driving vehicles carefully withevery consideration being given to the passenger, any equipment, the vehicle itself, other road users and to complywith Road Traffic Legislation.
The post holder will be expected to plan their journeys, considering the routes they should take, to ensure anefficient and effective service.
The post holder may be required to accommodate longer distance driving as part of contracts, with overnight staysin Hotels/Bed and breakfast ect, to be in line with driving regulations.
The post holder is required to undertake daily vehicle checks to ensure that the vehicle is roadworthy; these checksshall include for example: oil, water, fuel, tyre pressure and tread condition, lights, warning devices etc.
Report defects and deficiencies of the vehicle and equipment and replace all items of vehicle inventory used in accordance with Policies and Procedures.
Responsible for vehicle upkeep, cleanliness, and maintenance.
Ensure all safety checks are carried out.
To operate any communication system supplied / fitted/ operated by the Company in accordance with its Policiesand Procedures.
To participate in the QEF driver rota covering of shifts and duties as required / directed.

Main duties of the job
As an Admin & Clerical Officer, you'll play a key role in supporting smooth patient journeys within Diagnostic Imaging. Working as part of a friendly and supportive team, your contribution will help deliver an efficient, accurate and compassionate service.
You will provide essential administrative support across a range of imaging services (X-ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound and Interventional Radiology). Core duties include:

Providing a professional reception service across Main Radiology, MRI and Ultrasound reception areas, acting as the first point of contact for patients and signposting appropriately.

Booking and managing inpatient and outpatient appointments, ensuring cancellations are effectively utilised.

An autonomous role to provide aproactive, effective holistic service for neonates on the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), delivery-suite & postnatal wards. This includes responsibility for the clinical care & management for babies in SCBU & transitional care
Support the ward manager & provide clinical leadership including supervision of staff, audit & research, clinical governance, development of evidence-based guidelines & training/education
Role model compassionate & inclusive leadership
A Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice including completion of a non-medical prescribing qualification & independent advanced clinical skills is essential aspart of the Tier 1 rota
Identify sick infants who subsequently require management on the SCBU including initial assessment, stabilisation, & management, including passive cooling, ventilation, fluids, drug therapy & other resultant treatments. They will work closely with Paediatric Consultants & other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Role model to all staff & part of the senior team to improve & maintain standards & provide comprehensive advice and guidance to all departments.
To manage & lead complex situations in the absence of paediatric medical cover, making judgements involving complex facts, requiring analysis & interpretation to monitor & evaluate outcomes in patient-centred care.

The successful candidate will be part of a highly-skilled team responsible for the pre assessment of patients requiring an endoscopic procedure as well as working in the endoscopy department.
The successful candidate will need to possess excellent communication and organisational skills, be able to demonstrate leadership skills, work proactively as part of a successful team and demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills. They must also be able to manage their time effectively and work flexibly to meet the ever-changing requirements of the service both within the department and also Trust-wide.
You will be a 1st Level Staff Nurse with evidence of ongoing professional development.
Endoscopy experience would be beneficial, although not essential.
Main duties of the job
You will be pre assessing patients to assess their suitability for endoscopic procedures and manage the patient pathway. As well as supporting our Gastrointestinal, Urological, Gynaecological and Respiratory patients through all stages of their procedure pathway, whilst also ensuring that the endoscopic equipment is maintained according to our high standards.

The post holders will work in collaboration with the occupational therapy team lead and mental health colleagues to deliver and shape services. There will be opportunities to develop a wide range of clinical and non-clinical skills. You will work closely with team members and share responsibility for developing band 5 staff and unregistered staff and students. A UK Driving License and access to a vehicle for work purposes will be required for this post for community working. You will be based at one of the Gateshead Health Locations as directed by your line manager.

Main duties of the job
- To act as an experienced autonomous practitioner, providing specialised occupational therapy assessment and treatment for client's accessing the Older Persons Community Mental Health Service.
- To independently manage a caseload, using evidence-based practice and patient centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- To manage and supervise junior staff and students and support with training and development of staff within the mental health team.
- To work as a key member of the MDT.
- The post holder will assist in the delivery of the occupational therapy service across community and acute care settings, a range of health and social care locations and the patient's own home.

Job summary
The Gateshead Specialist Memory Hub is based at Bensham Hospital. We work Mon - Fri 9am-5pm to provide pre diagnostic assessment, treatment, post diagnostic support and education for patients with dementia as well as carer support both within the Hub and in collaboration with external agencies. Job summary
If you are a reliable individual with initiative and a positive approach to work an exciting opportunity has arisen within our friendly team to work for the Breast Screening Unit. We provide a screening and symptomatic breast imaging service for the population of Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside and Durham, predominantly working at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as well as in 3 static units and 2 mobile trailers. This would be a fantastic development opportunity for the right person. You must have good communication and organisational skills and be able to adapt to developing service needs. A qualification as an Assistant Practitioner would be desirable but not essential as full training could be given to suitably qualified applicants. The main responsibility of the role will be to provide excellent technical expertise in all aspects of the service including assessment and symptomatic clinics. Core working hours are from 8am-8pm Monday to Friday and Saturdays 8am-4pm. A current driving license and a car available for use are an essential requirements. Job summary
The AAA Screening Programme Manager will provide operational leadership and day-to-day management of the North East and North Cumbria Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme. The post holder will ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of the screening service across Gateshead and community screening sites throughout the region, supporting early detection of abdominal aortic aneurysms and contributing to improved patient outcomes. The role includes responsibility for programme performance, quality assurance, data management, pathway coordination, staff leadership, service development and partnership working across organisational boundaries. The post holder will work closely with commissioners, NHS England quality assurance teams, the vascular network, primary care, clinical teams and administrative staff to ensure the programme meets national standards, maintains robust governance arrangements and delivers a high-quality service for patients.
Main duties of the job
Provide operational management of the North East and North Cumbria AAA Screening Programme. Coordinate screening services across hospital and community venues, ensuring clinics are staffed, equipped and used effectively. Ensure the programme meets national screening standards, performance requirements and quality assurance expectations. Manage and support the AAA screening team, including recruitment, training, supervision, appraisal and HR processes. Liaise with commissioners, NHS England quality assurance teams, the vascular network, primary care, clinical teams and other stakeholders. Monitor programme performance and activity Analyse, validate and report screening, operational and mortality data, producing reports for programme boards and external review. Lead service development, including reviewing local procedures, SOPs and protocols in line with national guidance. Oversee quality assurance arrangements for staff, equipment, venues and screening processes. Support capacity and demand planning, ensuring sufficient staff and clinic capacity are available. Manage delegated financial and physical resources, including consumables, equipment and budget monitoring. Represent the programme at local, regional and national meetings. Maintain secure and accurate records, databases and reports in line with data protection requirements.

The Hospice at Home Health care Assistant will complement the Hospice at Home Community Team, providing direct care and support to patients with complex palliative care needs within their own home in the last stages of life. A flexible approach to the working day will be required due to the fluctuating needs of the service.

Applications are invited from hard working and organised individuals to provide a high quality secretarial and administrative service based within the Gastroenterology Department within the Medicine Business Unit. You will be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Main duties of the job
You should have previous secretarial/administrative experience, preferably within an acute medical setting. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential together with good organisational and planning skills. You should possess RSA/OCR III in Text/Word Processing or have the equivalent level of experience or be working towards this. You should also have knowledge of a range of secretarial procedures and software programmes. A working knowledge of CareFlow(Patient Administration System) is also desirable. You should also have an understanding of medical terminology. NVQ Level III in Business Administration or equivalent experience is essential. An Audio typing certificate or relevant experience is desirable.
The post holder will be expected to prioritise their work on a daily basis using a significant amount of initiative and discretion in the discharge of all duties.

To greet all patients and relatives attending the Emergency Care Centre / Blaydon UTC in a professional manner.
To ensure all patients coming into the A&E / Blaydon UTC departments are registered efficiently and accurately on to the Trusts electronic computer systems.
To provide front line reception / ward clerk duties, answering telephone enquiries from GPs, patients, relatives, members of the public and other organisations
Answering face to face enquiries from patients and clinical staff within the department
Work as a team and autonomously delivering a comprehensive administration / clerical service to all areas within the Emergency Care Centre.
To manage appointment systems, patients registration systems and all other service software. In addition, booking, rescheduling and cancelling patient clinic appointments

Job summary
Applications are invited for an enthusiastic lower limb arthroplasty surgeon colleague to join our friendly department at the Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust. This is a substantive appointment.
An opportunity has arisen at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead to appoint a new member of the team to address the demand for lower limb arthroplasty surgery. The appointed surgeon will be competent to perform primary lower limb arthroplasties such as primary total hip replacement, primary total knee replacement and unicondylar knee replacement, following fellowship training in lower limb arthroplasty. We currently plan to increase the proportion of day case procedures, and we anticipate that the appointed surgeon will participate in this work stream.
Main duties of the job
The appointed candidate will have a firm grasp of common trauma presentations, ideally with fellowship training in orthopaedic trauma. Ideally the appointed candidate will have an additional interest in managing paediatric trauma as part of the local hub and spoke network for paediatric trauma.
The successful candidate will be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead with occasional off-site clinics. Gateshead is a short commute to the vibrant city of Newcastle and has the added attraction of being close to the Northumberland Coast and the Lake District in Cumbria.
The department consists of 10 full time and two part-time consultants, 9 middle grades, 3 surgical care practitioners and one surgical assistant. 3 ST trainees are allocated to our unit as well as 2 core trainees. Currently 9 full-time consultants take part in a 1:9 on call rota and this post will include on call commitments.
