Job summary
We are delighted to offer an opportunity to join our friendly and supportive Cardiac Sciences team, delivering high-quality cardiac diagnostic services for patients across Ceredigion and the Mid Wales region.
Our work supports people with both acute and long-term cardiac conditions and plays a key role in their ongoing care. Our services include 12-lead ECGs, ambulatory ECG and blood pressure monitoring, echocardiography, and pacemaker implantation and follow-up. We also host outpatient clinics for a wide range of cardiac and respiratory healthcare professionals.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual, who enjoys variety and teamwork. The role involves working flexibly across our services, supporting advanced diagnostic procedures alongside qualified staff, as well as working independently to deliver and interpret defined cardiac investigations.
Applications are welcomed from candidates who do not currently hold the required qualification. Where appropriate, an appointment may be made under Annex 21, with support provided to achieve the qualification while in post.Main duties of the job
Alongside your clinical responsibilities, you will take a lead role in ensuring clinic and diagnostic rooms are prepared, equipment is available and maintained, and services run smoothly. You will work in partnership with a peer in Respiratory Services and will be supported by your line manager. You will be responsible for organising daily workloads and contributing to longer-term planning to meet service demands.
You will support the Clinical Physiology team in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred cardiac services at Bronglais Hospital. Working independently within agreed protocols, you will carry out routine cardiac investigations and interpret results, while assisting qualified staff during more complex procedures.
You will help provide day-to-day leadership for the support staff team, working closely with your line manager. This includes organising workloads, supporting colleagues, and contributing to service improvement. You will also provide practical teaching and supervision to students and other healthcare professionals where appropriate.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply

The successful candidate will join a dedicated, experienced, and multidisciplinary team committed to providing high-quality patient-centred care for the population of West Wales. Job description
Job responsibilities
Dedicated minor operative procedure sessions will form part of the job plan, enabling the post holder to undertake a range of dermatological procedures within their clinical competence. This may include diagnostic biopsies, excisions of skin lesions, curettage, and other minor surgical interventions. The role will support the delivery of efficient patient pathways by providing treatment closer to home and reducing the need for onward referral where appropriate.
The post holder will play an active role in clinical triage processes, reviewing referrals to ensure patients are directed to the most appropriate service and prioritised according to clinical urgency. This will contribute to effective demand management, improved patient flow, and optimal utilisation of available clinic capacity.
Participation in teledermatology and teledermoscopy services will be a key element of the role, supporting innovation in patient care and enabling earlier assessment of suspected skin cancers and other dermatological conditions. The post holder will provide specialist interpretation of clinical and dermoscopic images, facilitating timely diagnosis and reducing unnecessary patient travel across the rural geography of West Wales.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute fully to multidisciplinary team (MDT) working, including regular attendance at Skin Cancer MDT meetings and collaboration with colleagues. MDT participation is essential to ensuring high-quality clinical decision-making, effective treatment planning, and the delivery of integrated care for patients with complex conditions.
In addition to clinical duties, the post holder will have opportunities to contribute to the ongoing development and transformation of dermatology services. This may include involvement in quality improvement initiatives, service redesign projects, pathway development, audit activity, and implementation of innovative models of care aimed at improving patient experience, clinical outcomes, and service efficiency.
The role will also include a commitment to clinical governance, continuing professional development, teaching, and supervision where appropriate. The post holder will contribute to maintaining high standards of clinical practice and support the development of medical, nursing, and allied health professional colleagues within the service.
Overall, this post provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to a progressive dermatology service that is committed to delivering safe, sustainable, and high-quality care for the population of West Wales.
You will be able to find a full job description and person specification attached within the supporting documents.
The Health Board is committed to supporting its staff to fully embrace the need for bilingualism thereby enhancing patient and service user experiences. In our commitment to increase the number of staff who are able to communicate in Welsh with patients and professionals, we welcome applications from Welsh speakers.
The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post. If you do not meet the Welsh Language requirements specified, the Health Board offers a variety of learning options and staff support to help you meet these minimal desirable requirements during the course of your employment with us.
