Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to work as a discharge co-ordinator on Complex Medicine Ward the John Radcliffe Hospital.
The post holder aims to facilitate effective, efficient and timely discharge of patients from hospital and 'hub' beds. Particular emphasis is placed upon complex multi-disciplinary assessments and case conferences including patients with complex health and social care, palliative care or rehabilitationneeds.
Main duties of the job
The post holder aims to facilitate effective, efficient and timely discharge of patients from hospital and nursing home beds. Particular emphasis is placed upon complex multi-disciplinary assessments and case conferences including patients with complex health and social care, palliative care or rehabilitation needs.
The role will involve close working with all members of the multi-disciplinary team (nursing, medical, therapy, social work and care home staff) and patients/relatives/carers, ensuring safe discharge of patients to the most appropriate place. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing patient pathways.
We are looking for pro-active, highly motivated individuals to work autonomously or as part of a team. The applicant will be expected to be enthusiastic, organised with excellent communication and IT skills.
They should be able to use their own judgement to resolve complex issues. They should be able to work well under pressure and be able to prioritize their own workload under constantly changing demands.
The post holder is expected to work alternate shifts including weekends.

Job summary
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with an interest in oesophagogastric (OG) surgery and wishes to work as part of a tumour-site specific multi-disciplinary team who values and respects the role of the Dietitian.
This post will support and work alongside the OG dietetic team to provide a comprehensive dietetic service to pre- and post-operative OG patients treated at the Churchill Hospital, part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT), Oxford.
The OUH is a regional centre for OG cancer management covering the Thames Valley and one of a few UK centres providing the surgical management of trachea-oesophageal fistula (TOF), end stage achalasia and other complex benign diseases of the oesophagus and stomach.
We encourage every Band 6 to protect 20% of their time within the role to development, both individually and as a service. This can include quality improvement projects, clinical audit and CPD, as well as service development, such as reviewing the way the service is delivered and the patient pathway. This role therefore provides a great opportunity to develop clinical and leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
The primary focus of this post will be to support the OG cancer patients who are treated surgically but also those who have complex benign disease and require pre- and post-operative dietetic support. This will includes:
- Provide screening and assessments of patients at all stages of treatment
- Manage weekly telephone/video clinics +/- face to face clinics
- Liaise with the OG MDT with regards to the nutritional management of patients (e.g. feeding tube insertions, treatment decisions, hospital admissions).
- Provide short and long-term follow-up and management of treatment side effects of surgery and systemic anticancer treatments
- Work alongside the ERAS and Prehab nursing team to run OG specific virtual prehabilitation group sessions
- Run a pre surgery, virtual education group session for patients
- Support patients with home enteral feeding, jejunostomy and gastrostomy care advice and trouble shooting
- Support patients with the monitoring and appropriate supplementation of micronutrient status after OG surgery.
- Work alongside dietetic colleagues to develop departmental guidelines and standards of best practice.

The post-holder will be an experienced, knowledgeable practitioner who provides clinically based practice development and education to the nursing workforce. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join the Medicines Effectiveness team as an Immunology and Clinical Commissioning Pharmacist on a 10-month secondment. Job summary
A Ophthalmology fellowship is available from February 2027 for 12 months at John Radcliffe Hospital. This fellowship is for candidates interested in medical retina.
The appointment is full time however, applications are welcome from those who wish to job share.
This post is suitable for doctors who have completed their training or have completed a significant part of their training but seek experience in Uveitis (ocular inflammation) and medical retina prior to obtaining a consultant appointment. It is not a post that is approved for training by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Candidates are welcome to visit the department and are invited to contact Mr Jonathan Norris, Clinical Lead for Ophthalmology and Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Oxford Eye Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, The John Radcliffe.
Any person who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis, in consultation with consultant supervisors. Suitably qualified job-share candidates will be considered.
Main duties of the job
We welcome candidates who are interested in enhancing their training to include ocular inflammation, and medical retina and/or neuro-ophthalmology.
This post is suitable for ophthalmologists who have completed their training (to CCT level) or have completed a significant part of their training including postgraduate examinations but seek experience in the above ophthalmology subspecialties prior to obtaining a consultant appointment. It is not an approved training post.
The post holder will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic team of uveitis and medical retina specialists wide ranging subspecialist interests ranging from uveitis, paediatric uveitis, vascular medical retina, AMD, ocular genetics, specialist retina, ocular oncology and von hippel lindau. We are also a national centre for neuromyelitis optica and neurofibromatosis type 2.
We participate in a multidisciplinary service for our regional Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis service. Medical Ophthalmology is a cross-disciplinary service and we encourage participation of our trainees in rheumatology, sarcoidosis, vasculitis and multiple sclerosis clinics to deepen knowledge of the conditions giving rise to uveitis.
About us
The Oxford Eye Hospital and its consultant body has an active research portfolio. Participation in research through the writing up of clinical studies and case reports is encouraged. The Medical Retina Consultants are also part of the cataract surgical team. Fellows have the opportunity to access cataract surgery but only during weekend lists, there is no weekday theatre allocation within this Fellowship. There is also the opportunity to be involved in trainee, and medical student teaching on a formal and informal basis.

The main ENT Department is located in the West Wing at The John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. It provides emergency care and wide range of general and sub-specialty elective inpatient work for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire regions. Day surgery cases are treated in the West Wing, Churchill head and neck unit, The Horton, Stoke Mandeville Hospital and High Wycombe.
Main duties of the job
The department prides itself on being a regional tertiary referral Centre for head and neck oncology, skull base surgery and neurology, pediatrics ENT, specialist rhinology and otology including cochlear implants and bone anchored hearing aids. It is the hub of the Regional SpR Training Program. It is an extremely well supported department with ample opportunity for learning and development and successful applicants will join a well-respected and recognized department and team.
You will be expected to attend daily ward rounds, undertake ward work and participate in holding the on-call bleep. You will have the opportunity to sit in outpatient clinics and attend theatre to improve and develop knowledge and understanding. You will be expected to attend and contribute to monthly academic sessions, MDT and clinical governance. The specialist registrars are heavily involved in the management of the junior clinical staff and aim to support on-call duties and clinician development very closely.
The work of the Department is supported by a full range of support services including audiology, speech & language therapy, an aural care team, pre-clerking nurses, head & neck cancer nursing team, dieticians, pediatrics tracheotomy nurse specialists etc.

This is a joint appointment between the NHS Department of Clinical Biochemistry and the University Department, the Wolfson Centre forPrevention of Stroke and Dementia. We are looking for a candidate with both Limb reconstruction and Orthopaedic Trauma with a proven track record of delivering limb reconstruction in both elective and trauma setting, and experience of delivery of orthopaedic trauma surgery in the major trauma centre setting at consultant level. The appointee will work as part of a dedicated orthopaedic trauma team in a Major Trauma Centre, serving a catchment population of 3 million with a substantial tertiary workload. This is integral to this appointment, and applicants will need to demonstrate fellowship level training in complex Limb Reconstruction and Orthopaedic trauma surgery. We are looking for an applicant who is a team player and has relevant experience.
The appointee will be expected to participate in the on-call rota and may be required to work on any other site as required by the OUH Trust in the future.
Main duties of the job
The new appointee will form part of a team, managing patients with musculoskeletal trauma. The appointee will have individual consultant responsibilities, but these will be performed within a team environment, which provides excellent opportunities for further personal and professional development.
The new post holder will be treated equitably in this regard with respect to his/her consultant colleagues. The post is suitable for a fully trained orthopaedic surgeon, with relevant experience from the UK or abroad, who wishes to practice their skills in the management of musculoskeletal trauma. Job summary
This part time Band 7 ICU role is an exciting opportunity to join one of the best teaching hospitals in the UK and offers the successful candidates the opportunity to gain valuable training so that they can not only advance their careers but join a team that offers the very best in nutritional care.
This post will have a job plan that covers ICU units across OUH. You will be working within the ICU team which covers not only a brand new, bespoke critical care unit which is a tertiary referral centre for critical care, regional vascular and major trauma, and supports one of the largest transplant departments in Europe, but also two specialist ICU's: Neuro ICU and Cardio Thoracic ICU. There may also be some cover to the Surgical Emergency Unit.
You will work alongside a team of experienced Band 7 Dietitians with support from Band 6 Dietitians and undertake supervision of B5 rotational Dietitians and students. You will be supported by the Critical Care MDT who highly respect and value dietitians.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the development and provision of a highly specialist, evidence based dietetic service to the patients treated within the adult intensive care units.
Working as an integral member of both the Dietetic team and the MDT to provide a flexible, prioritised service based on clinical need.
Initiate, lead and participate in audits, project work and research within own clinical area.

My name is Jane Yarnell, my role as the Lead Practitioner Development Technician for the OUHFT Pharmacy Department means that I am privileged to lead the training for our fantastic team of Pharmacy Level 2 apprentices, enabling them to gain the skills necessary to become a Pharmacy Assistant within one of our departments across the trust. Pharmacy Assistants are essential members of the pharmacy team working under the supervision of a Pharmacist and alongside Pharmacy Technicians to provide pharmaceutical care for the patient. The duties are varied, and it is not simply a matter of counting tablets. I am currently looking for a level 2 Pharmacy apprentice to join the Churchill Hospital Pharmacy department.
During your 15-month contract, full practical in-house training will be provided, you will undertake a level 2 Specialist Btec in The Principles and Practices for Pharmacy Support Staff, this will provide you with the skills to work as a Pharmacy Assistant, alongside the knowledge you will need to support your pharmacy career. You must be a team player, keen to further your education, and have a good attention to detail as well as the ability to work accurately in a busy environment and be able to communicate clearly with patients and staff.

It is desirable that you have 4 GCSEs of 3 or above, but we can help with functional skills.

Job summary
Patient administration underpins the patient journey and supports clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience. Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources.
The post holder has responsibility for assisting with the provision of a professional, comprehensive, and efficient administrative service, which is effectively delivered to all patients and members of the Department. This will be through the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service to a specialty team.
NOTE: There are 06 posts available at different sites- 06 (01 at Horton General Hospital, 05 at John Radcliffe Hospital- Womens Centre)
Main duties of the job
- Support the Reception desk
- Provide administrative support to Consultants, clinical staff and all patients under their care, including diary administration, correspondence support and other administrative duties as required.
- Book New and Follow up clinic appointments. Utilise vacant slots to bring forward clinically triaged urgent patients ensuring best use of clinic lists. Assist with the processing of new referrals.
- Act upon queries from referrers, patients and other relevant parties in liaison with clinical staff. Take relevant action to provide reassurance and support to patients and their families by finding appropriate solutions to problems via phone or email.
