Job summary

We are seeking a whole-timeConsultant Virologist or Consultant Medical Virologist and Infectious Disease Physician post for Public Health Wales (PHW) Infection Services, Cardiff. The successful applicant will work within the Welsh Specialist Virology Centre (WSVC), Cardiff. Depending on qualifications, the candidate may agree to spend some time within the Infectious Disease service.
In this role, you will join the expanding Clinical Infection Team delivering services to Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, but also specialist services to the WSVC and supporting the wider Public Health Wales network.
Main duties of the job
Strategic and professional leadership and communication:
The appointee will ensure a culture of maintenance and continuous improvement of quality. In this role, the appointee will:
Promote multi-professional team working within the department
Ensure appropriate communication and team working with other services in the Public Health Wales Trust and with services in the other Trusts, Health Boards, and health communities served by Microbiology Cardiff.
Contribute to departmental meetings
Contribute to service developments and improvements
Contribute to developing patient-focused pathways
Contribute to clinical audit, review, and planning of services
Develop business cases as appropriate
Contribute to the development of the service in line with the Public Health Wales Trust Infection Service network objectives and the national and local Pathology Modernisation agenda
Consult all sections of the service about changes, including the procurement of equipment
Contribute to the developing and strengthening of working relationships with primary/community care providers and commissioners

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Cervical Screening Wales (CSW) as a Deputy Lead Nurse Specialist. We are looking for someone withan excellent record within nursing and with experience of cervical screening, combined with commitment and training skills to support the deliveryof the cervical screening programme in Wales.As a key member of the CSW clinical team, the post holder will work in conjunction with the wider CSW clinical team, CSW management teamand screening pathway teams to maintain and enhance the clinical quality of the cervical screening programme, by managing and resolvingclinical issues and queries, and through the education, support, and development of cervical sample takers.

Applicants must hold a substantive permanent NHS post and obtain approval from their current employer to undertake a secondment before applying for this position.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work with the Cervical Screening Wales (CSW) Clinical Lead, Lead Nurse Specialist, Cervical Screening Administration Department Manager and Regional Programme Manager to enhance and maintain the clinical quality of the cervical screening programme, by managing and resolving clinical issues and queries, and through the education, support and development of cervical screening sample takers. The post holder may be required to work across the Screening Division. The post holder will be expected to:
1. Make clinical decisions in conjunction with the Lead Nurse Specialist and act on issues relating to cervical screening
2. Work with the Lead Nurse Specialist to lead on the implementation of the cervical screening programme locally, including liaison with senior staff in Health Boards, general practices and the general public and coordinate with other teams within Wales
3. To work clinically and maintain clinical skills and competencies including sample taking
4. Be a point of contact for participant clinical queries
5. To act in a supporting and developing role with health professionals within the programme through education and training, including maintaining the educational course content, e-learning and attendance databases

An opportunity has arisen to work within the South East Wales Region of Newborn Hearing Screening Wales, an All-Wales programme, which provides a uniform service of high quality within an All-Wales policy and to All-Wales standards and protocols.
Based at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff you will work as part of a team participating in the hearing screening of newborn babies. You will undertake the full range of newborn hearing screening duties both in a hospital and community setting.
The post is for 37.5 hours per week, where you will work a set rota that includes a 4 hour Saturday morning shift each week. A copy of the rota can be provided on request to ensure that you are able to commit to these working arrangements.
Main duties of the job
Duties include communicating with the parents throughout the process, baby handling, use of screening equipment and accurately recording clinical and test data relevant to the screening process, therefore, good communication skills and experience of using a computer are essential. You must be a confident and reliable individual and possess the ability to work well under pressure.
Although the base site will be at the University Hospital of Wales, you will also be required to work shifts at other South Wales hospital sites on a regular basis and to run clinics in the community. Therefore, the successful candidate will need the ability to regularly travel between and work at other sites within the region as needed.
There is a mandatory requirement to undertake Level 3 Accredited Learning. On completion of this and subject to all criteria being met, you will continue in your job role on a permanent contract with PHW at the designated pay scale.

Job summary
Applicants are invited to join a team in the Department of Cellular Pathology at Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB), the biggest medical facility in Wales providing unique national subspecialist services in a range of disciplines, including centralised national pathology diagnostic facilities. The Directorate is composed of Departments of Cellular Pathology, Laboratory Medicine (Haematology and Chemical Pathology) and Immunology. Microbiology services, although an integral part of the Directorate, are provided and managed by Public Health Wales. The Directorate of Pathology is a Health Board wide service and part of the Morriston Service Delivery Unit.
The Department of Cellular Pathology incorporates Histopathology / Cytopathology laboratories at Morriston and Singleton Hospitals (both located in Swansea) serving primary and secondary care in Swansea, Bridgend and Neath, Port Talbot. In addition, it provides a regional diagnostic lymphoma service (part of the All-Wales Lymphoma Panel), South-Wales sarcoma diagnostic services and HER-2 testing to the hospitals in South-West Wales. The department is UKAS accredited under ISO 15189.
You must be fully registered with the GMC, be on the specialist register and have the Certificate of Completion of Training or be within 6 months of obtaining it by the date of the interview.
Consultants in the SBUHB benefit from a flexible approach to working practices including homeworking.
Main duties of the job
You will be joining a team of 13 Consultants across SBUHB and undertake diagnostic surgical pathology and cytology, with autopsy being optional.
With the implementation of "A Regional Collaboration for Health" (ARCH), Swansea University, NHS and industry established a unique platform for rapid translational research to improve health of the population and set a UK wide example for quality of care and medical research. Under ARCH, the Health Board is set to transform Cellular Pathology to academically integrated Cellular-Molecular Pathology, technologically and conceptually fit for the genomic era and precision medicine. In this context, development of a specialist interest, teaching and research will all be essential components of the successful applicants' job plans. Continuous Professional Development will be actively supported.

Public Heath Wales Microbiology operates as a network of laboratories with Regional Laboratories across Wales.
The Band 4 Associate Practitioner post based in the Anaerobe Reference Unit at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff provides supervision and support to a team of laboratory support workers and undertakes reference laboratory procedures with supervision. Following a positive recommendation from the UK National Screening Committee and the successful delivery of a pilot in the North Rhondda area, the Welsh Government has approved the implementation of Lung Screening Wales as a new national screening programme. Thisrepresentsa significant development for healthcare in Wales and offers an exciting opportunity for compassionate,motivatedand innovative individuals to play a key role in delivering this important service.
We are seeking to recruit two Senior Screening Nurses to support the development and implementation of Lung Screening Wales. In theinitialphase, post holders will contribute to service planning and pathway development while providing nursing support across the Screening Division. Working across screening programmes will broaden their understanding of population health and the contribution of screening to improving outcomes, reducing health inequalities, and delivering the Duty of Quality.
As the programme transitions into operational delivery, the successful candidates will assume a pivotal leadership role in the day-to-day management of the service, ensuring the delivery of safe,effectiveand participant-centred care. They will helpmaintainhigh-quality clinical standards and support continuous service improvement.
Main duties of the job
There are multiple steps in the lung cancer screening pathway, including cohort identification and invitation, risk assessment, CT scanning, CT scan reporting, integrated smokingcessationand actioning results. The Senior Screening Nurse will support the planning and delivery of the risk assessment element of the pathway. The risk assessment's will be completed using standardised riskprediction models, with a set of fixed questions used to generate a risk score for each participant.
The outcomes of theparticipants identified as being athigh riskwill be clinically reviewed and, where eligible, referred for a screening low-dose CT scan by the Risk Assessment Team.
The risk assessment process also incorporates smoking cessation support, informed consent and clinical support forNursesundertaking face-to-face risk assessments within Health Boards across Wales.

Once operational, the Senior Screening Nurse will provide day-to-day leadership and management of the Risk Assessment Team, supporting Healthcare Support Workers undertaking telephone-based participant assessments todetermineeligibility for lung cancer screening. The post holder will ensure assessments are completed in line with programme standards and willprovideclinical guidance,adviceand supervision.
The Senior Screening Nurse will undertake and oversee the clinical review of participant risk assessments anddetermineeligibility for screening. Acting as a Non-Medical Referrer, the post holder willbe responsible forreferring eligible participants for Low Dose CT (LDCT) screeningin accordance withagreed protocols and pathways.
The post holder will support the Programme Lead Nurse in monitoring performance against programme standards. They willidentifyopportunities for service improvement, implement changes to practice whererequired, and contribute to the production of reports and performance information.
The role will involve delivering education and training programmes for staff, assessing competence, supporting professionaldevelopmentand promoting a positive learning culture. The Senior Screening Nurse will act as a role model for clinical practice,leadershipand professional standards.
The post holder will work closely with colleagues across the Lung Screening Wales pathway, including Clinical Nurse Specialists across Health Boards in Wales, to support pathway delivery,facilitateeffective communication and promote the sharing of best practice.

Public Health Wales Microbiology laboratories, in the North Wales region are situated within the Gwynedd, Glan Clwyd and Wrexham Maelor Hospitals with the Glan Clwyd site being one of the largest Microbiology Laboratories in Wales. Together they provide a wide range of diagnostic services to hospitals, clinics and general practitioners in North Wales and North Powys.
North Wales Microbiology offers a comprehensive routine diagnostic bacteriology service. The laboratory benefits from Kiestra automation, automated urinalysis and a wide range of molecular testing platforms. All of the Clinical Laboratories are ISO 15189 UKAS accredited and we are also an IBMS approved training site.

Band 4 post available for trainee AAA Screener.
This post is covered under NHS Annex 21 salary arrangements. This will mean a no detriment arrangement for existing NHS employees. A continuation of existing salary maximum to the top of Band 3 for the duration of training. Once training is completed, the salary moves to the bottom of Band 4 and the increment date changes to reflect this. Applicants external to the NHS, the salary arrangement is 75% top of Band 4 for the duration of the training, although a credit can be applied for relevant experience to take the salary to the top of Band 3.
The Wales Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme was implemented on 1 May 2013 reducing the AAA related mortality in the eligible population, that is, 65-year-old men living in Wales.
The trainee screener will be expected to undertake the level 4 diploma in AAA screening and level 3 diploma in fundamentals in health screening. The training requires both academic and practical assessments. The role will cover the North Wales region, with occasional requirement to travel across other regions of Wales. Once training is completed the post holder will then become a permanent AAA screener. This role does require excellent hand eye coordination.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post.

The Screener will provide appropriate information to men attending the community screening and surveillance clinics, especially where barriers to understanding exist. Main duties of the job
This post would suit candidates that have proven Microbiology laboratory experience and associated work based education and competency or a science graduate. Job summary
Breast Test Wales is looking for a highly motivated and competent part-time Screening Pathway Administrator to join our team and play a vital part in a rewarding role.
Working within Breast Test Wales the post holder will be supporting the delivery of national screening programmes in Wales by providing essential pathway administration functions, including scheduling, processing data, extracting, and analysing information for participant screening records and handle participant communications.
You will provide comprehensive administrative support and excellent customer service within a busy, sensitive environment.
You must have previous administrative experience in a customer service environment and possess excellent communication skills. You must also demonstrate excellent organisational skills and be able to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and work to deadlines. The ability to work successfully as part of a team is essential for this role.
The post-holder will offer advice and assistance in a professional and sensitive manner to screening women and other parties and will be required to undertake reception duties at the Breast Screening Centre.

Main duties of the job

We're looking for a Senior Service Designer to join a national transformation programme supporting the delivery of Healthy Weight: Healthy Wales and MyPath Cymru. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and experience in public health and screening services. The Regional Nurse will be a key member of the Bowel Screening Wales nursing team, providing professional leadership and support to regional bowel screening teams across Wales.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to act as a visible point of contact for local clinical teams, driving service development and continuous improvement to enhance population outcomes. Working closely with colleagues across Bowel Screening Wales, the post holder will support the delivery of the Screening Colonoscopy Improvement Project (SCIP) and initiatives to reduce screening inequalities, contributing to service innovation, quality improvement and the delivery of high-quality, equitable screening services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will play a key role in the development and delivery of national training programmes and contribute to the development of national policy and professional standards. They will monitor risk and programme performance within their region, using service user feedback, quality assurance findings and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and drive service development.

Similarly, opportunities may arise for leadership roles in infection control and the national health protection service, and for supervision of epidemiologists as part of the healthcare epidemiology network.
The consultant (in collaboration with the other consultants in CDSC) will have lead responsibilities as agreed with the head of CDSC.
The post holder will be able to work in PHW offices or from a home base (home working arrangements are possible in line with current organisational policy but this may be subject to future change) and administrative and IT support is provided. Travel to meetings in various locations in Wales will be required, and interactive working via MS Teams is extensively utilised. CDSC staff are mainly based in Capital Quarter 2 in central Cardiff.

Job summary
The driver is an integral part of the blood collection/delivery operation. Duties include the transportation of blood to the WBS centre, delivery of blood and blood components to customer hospitals in the South/Mid Wales area and the delivery of the Public Health Wales (PHW) service level agreement. Additional duties include the delivery of blood and commercial blood products to the Welsh Blood Service Stock Holding Unit (SHU) in North East Wales and the return of blood to the processing laboratory at Talbot Green.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 18 months. Main duties of the job
The Welsh Blood Service requires a competent individual to undertake driving and other transport related duties. Knowledge of main and local routes within South, Mid and North Wales would be an advantage. The contracted hours are 18.75 per week, with flexible start and finish duty times based on the operational requirements of the Service. Length of duties will vary and may include occasional night working hours and a possibility of weekend working. Any time worked in excess of 18.75 hours will be paid at the appropriate rate.
Applicants will be expected to work flexible hours. Effective communication skills are essential, as part of the role will involve dealing with external contacts. A current driving licence with C1 and D1 entitlement is essential.
