Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated exercise physiologist to join the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust Cardiac Rehab service. This will be an exciting opportunity for you to enhance your skills in caring for cardiac patients. We provide a Phase III and IV service for patients with a variety of backgrounds and those that have a wide range of cardiac disease. As a band 5 Exercise Physiologist you will play a key role in providing exercise prescription for cardiovascular exercise and other conditions. You will also be involved with the delivery and evaluation of the exercise programme as well as the educational components in Phase III and IV. This will include delivery of face to face and/or Hybrid approach.
The post will involve cross-site working and some evening work.
Main duties of the job
Delivery of the exercise component of cardiac rehabilitation (Phases III - IV) both within the acute trust and primary care setting.To advise individuals with coronary heart disease and other conditions on the most suitable form of physical activity and to promote lifelonghealthy habits.Contribute to the delivery of the educational component of cardiac rehabilitation.To maintain and improve standards of professional practice in order to enhance the quality of care for a defined client group.To establish new and innovative working practices in collaboration with health, leisure and social services and other agenciesPromoting research, in the provision of evidence based practice, collecting and evaluating audit data.

Job summary
To provide a single point of contact for Trust computer users experiencing problems or seeking advice on computer related issues. Liaises with IT Department staff in the allocation of incoming Helpdesk calls and in the communication of the status of outstanding calls to the end user.
To record all calls on the IT Service system, offering assistance to callers, and where appropriate and acting on their own initiative , offering short term or permanent solutions and fixes to technical problems.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide an efficient high quality IT service desk service to the users of the Trust's computer systems.
2. Provide telephone support and expert advice to IT Users within the Trust. This support encompasses both PC, network hardware and software ( MS Office products, Citrix, MS Operating Systems, clinical and non-clinical administrative systems etc ).
3. To receive incoming calls to the Trust IT Service desk in a timely and courteous manner, and to record details of the call on the IT/Informatics Department Service desk system.
4. To provide immediate help and advice on the telephone, where appropriate and using own initiative. Where this is not possible to allocate the call to a suitable team within the Department.
5. To assist in managing outstanding Service desk calls by contacting users and either updating the call with latest position or helping to resolve the call if possible.
6. May be required to deliver and install IT equipment.
7. To provide support to the wider team in the provision of a high quality support service, including assistance in clerical and data entry tasks where required.
8. To perform daily routine checks on service availability, and to record and report any exceptions to the IT Service Support Manager and/or team lead. .
9. To prioritise all incoming work on a daily basis, including managing conflicting demands and responding quickly and appropriately to urgent/important issues.

Job summary
Neurophysiology are seeking to recruit 2 Clinical Physiologists or Clinical Scientists dependent on qualification/registration.
Based at the Birmingham Treatment Centre (BTC) we also provide inpatient Neurophysiology diagnostic services from the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), which opened in October 2024.
Applicants should hold a relevant Neurophysiology degree and ideally for undergraduates, ANS professional exams. Registration with Academy of Healthcare Science is essential or HCPC for those with a relevant Neurophysiology Masters degree or equivalence.
Duties will include all EEG modalities including sleep, ambulatory and portable EEG and independent nerve conduction clinics, screening for carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy or peripheral neuropathy. In addition the candidate will contribute to the running of the service on a day to day basis and areas of particular interest will be supported.
CPD is encouraged and the team meet monthly for staff and quality meetings to improve the service for the benefit of patients.
There is some requirement of training junior members of the team or wider health care professions.
Main duties of the job
- Performs a range of neurophysiology diagnostic tests and produces factual reports.
- Participates in the out of hours on call EEG rota; approximately one Sunday morning every 2 months.
- Work collaboratively on a day-to-day basis with others to contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the service.
- Rotates between BTC and MMUH, approximately 4:1.
- Supervision of junior staff

Clinical & Surgical ExposureWe offer cutting-edge therapeutic interventions utilizing the latest laser and surgical techniques. The fellow will gain robust experience in:
Laser Procedures:Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) and endoscopic cyclodiode.
Micro-Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS):iStent W and infinite, OMNI, iTrack, ELIOS laser, and Preserflo.
Major Glaucoma Surgery:Trabeculectomy and aqueous shunt implantation (Paul, Baerveldt, Ahmed, and S-plate).

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative, and progressive Clinical Research Fellow to join the Research and Development department. The appointee will work at both the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital as well as the Clinical Research Facility at the Sandwell Health Campus. We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 development post within the Sandwell Sexual Health services. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to undergo training and development to become a Band 6 senior Contraception and Sexual Health Nurse.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic passionate nurse who wants to develop professionally to work within a motivated team of professionals and deliver education, sexual health advice and management.
We are a multi-professional progressive team providing a comprehensive, evidence based and patient focused service for Contraception and Genitourinary Medicine specialising in integrated sexual health and HIV services. They will be working at the main hub at the Lyng Centre and our outreach services across Sandwell.
The post holder will work alongside consultants and senior specialist nurses to gain appropriate training and skills in order to provide clinical care for presenting groups of patients including history taking, clinical assessment and examination, safeguarding, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care.
The post holders must be motivated to provide all aspects of sexual health and contraception to vulnerable and hard to reach groups who would otherwise not engage in Sexual health services
Main duties of the job
-To assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care based on consultation, assessment and individual needs
-Undertake some higher-level clinical duties under the direction/supervision of a senior nurse/practitioner
-Collect specimens as directed by senior clinical nurse or doctor, ensuring its safe storage/transport or disposal as appropriate. Ensure appropriate labelling and recording of specimens and request forms.
-Collect blood samples (peripheral or venous) ensuring its safe storage, transport or disposal, as appropriate.
-Manage a defined group of patients/clients, participating in all aspects of care from initial contact through to discharge, including transferring from one environment to another if applicable
-To undertake administration of prescribed medication

As a practicing Clinician you will perform specialist podiatry assessments of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and to develop and deliver a specialised individual treatment program across various settings, including the domiciliary caseload to benefit the patients needs.
Main duties of the job
- Management of the high risk and vascular caseloads with the lead as well as the wider team
- Coordination of the acute and community integrated vascular and high risk podiatric pathway in a safe and effective manner
- Working with the wider directorate team, including the diabetes and vascular leads
- Supporting and implementing the quality agenda in all aspects of work
- Regular evaluation and development of the high risk and vascular podiatry service
- Clinical supervision of staff and students, taking part in peer reviews and training sessions
- Working alongside the lead for advice and support when required
- Routine evaluations of clinical work and documentation
- Participating in local and national audits and service improvement activities to demonstrate adherence

We are seeking to recruit a enthusiastic and hardworking doctor to join our General Medicine Departments as Junior Specialist doctors at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. These post will be 12 months fixed term posts in the first instance, starting as soon as possible with the possibility of longer term opportunities within the Trust, subject to performance and progress. These posts would be aimed at junior grade CT/ST 1-2 level (ie 2 years post qualification level) and whilst not approved training posts we would endeavor to provide training opportunities. The Junior Specialist Doctor - Lower - General Medicine posts will allow you to consolidate your experience in a supportive General Medicine environment, giving you wide ranging clinical exposure in a progressive Trust that has won numerous national and local awards. We would be keen to work with successful applicants and help you continue to build your General Medicine Career. We envisage that the JSD post would act as a stepping stone into specialty training as you continue to pursue membership exams.

Consultant in Gastroenterology WSI ERCP & EUS
The Gastroenterology Directorate is seeking to recruit a substantive Consultant Gastroenterologist with a specialist interest in Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Endoscopy (ERCP and EUS) to join our dynamic, innovative and expanding team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering and developing high-quality HPB endoscopic services and related patient care across the Trust. This is substantive 10 PA job but LTF will also be considered. On a 10 PA job plan the successful candidate would be required to deliver a minimum of 2 out-patient clinics and 2 endoscopy lists per week.
The post holder will join an established team of Consultant Gastroenterologists and HPB Endoscopists, contributing to the provision of diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP and EUS services, while supporting the wider gastroenterology service. There will be opportunities to further develop the advanced endoscopy service, contribute to training, service improvement and multidisciplinary working.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work across our hospital sites including Sandwell Health Campus, City Health Campus and the state-of-the-art Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH).
Applicants must hold MRCP (UK) or equivalent and have completed higher specialist training in Gastroenterology or equivalent. Candidates must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Gastroenterology, or be within six months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
The post will enable the successful applicant to develop sub-specialty interests in HPB Endoscopy to complement the existing consultant staff. The appointee will take equal responsibility with existing Consultants for the proper functioning of the clinical service, working with clinical and managerial colleagues towards achieving and maintaining national maximum waiting times and developing clinical pathways in line with the maximum 18-week patient pathway guarantee. There will also be a commitment to the gastroenterology ward on-call as part of this post (consultant of the week 1, COW1), which at present is 1 in 12 (which may change in future) providing gastroenterology input 7 days a week and currently has a supplement of 3%. There will be a rest day following the COW1 week on Monday.

The successful candidate will also undertake a consultant of the week 2 (COW2) shift twice a month providing in-reach gastroenterology service to the acute medical unit in the morning followed by an inpatient endoscopy list in the afternoon. They will also take part in advice and guidance from primary care as well as doing the gastroenterology and triage service virtual clinic of 20 GP referrals per clinic. The appointee will be required to undertake 2 weekend endoscopy lists each year as part of their job plan.
We deployed a new electronic patient record in 2019 and have an ambitious digital road map that will put us as leaders in digital healthcare delivery.
As well as being the closest adult hospital to Birminghams busy city centre, MMUH offers dedicated maternity and childrens services. Crucially, it brings together teams who provide acute, emergency care, in line with the views expressed in our public consultation.
The majority of outpatient services are still provided at Sandwell Health Campus, City Health Campus site and Rowley Regis.

They will also take part in advice and guidance from primary care as well as doing the gastroenterology and triage service virtual clinic of 20 GP referrals per clinic. The appointee will be required to undertake 2 weekend endoscopy lists each year as part of their job plan. We deployed a new electronic patient record in 2019 and have an ambitious digital road map that will put us as leaders in digital healthcare delivery. As well as being the closest adult hospital to Birminghams busy city centre, MMUH offers dedicated maternity and childrens services. Crucially, it brings together teams who provide acute, emergency care, in line with the views expressed in our public consultation. The majority of outpatient services are still provided at Sandwell Health Campus, City Health Campus site and Rowley Regis. Applications are invited for a full-time locum consultant gynaecologist post (Gynaecological Cancer Unit Specialist) for 12 months.

Main duties of the job
This post is developed to complement the existing consultants, expand and strengthen the skilled workforce, and meet the sustained growth of gynaecological service demands and gynaecological cancer NHS targets. Demand for gynaecology services has increased due to rising referrals, population change, and delayed care. This post will help increase capacity of gynaecological cancer services across outpatients, procedures and theatres, reducing waiting times and clinical risk.
The post-holder will be joining a dynamic and dedicated team of gynaecologists, which is committed to delivering excellent service for women. They will cover operating lists, outpatient clinics and gynaecology on-call rota at the frequency agreed by the directorate. Although there are no obstetrics commitments, the post holder is expected to support the on-call consultant obstetricians upon request. They will also have the opportunity to carry out clinical research and medical education through our strong links with the University of Birmingham and the University of Aston.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Advanced Cardiac Physiologist - Echocardiographer to join the Cardiology Diagnostics team at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust.
The post holder will be an independent, accredited echocardiographer, delivering a wide range of routine, complex and specialist echocardiography investigations across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will play a key role in supporting safe, timely diagnosis and ongoing management of patients with cardiac disease, working closely with consultant cardiologists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
The Trust actively promotes the provision of 7-day diagnostic services, and the post holder will be expected to support weekend working.
The post may also be suitable for an experienced Specialist Cardiac Physiologist who is looking to further develop their echocardiography skills. In these circumstances, support will be provided to achieve accreditation, with salary adjusted in line with qualifications and experience.
In addition to delivering high-quality clinical activity, the role includes supporting service delivery, supervising and training junior staff, contributing to service development, and deputising for senior colleagues within the echocardiography service when required. All work will be undertaken in line with professional standards, Trust policies and governance requirements
Main duties of the job
Perform a full range of standard and complex echocardiography studies, including portable ward-based scans, adapting examinations to clinical indication and patient condition
Produce accurate, timely clinical reports, recognising and escalating significantly abnormal findings to cardiology clinicians as required
Participate in advanced echocardiography activity, including stress echocardiography, contrast studies, TOE support and specialist physiologist-led clinics
Work as an autonomous practitioner, exercising advanced clinical judgement in a high-volume diagnostic service
Support the day-to-day running of the echocardiography service, including prioritisation of worklists and deputising for senior staff when required
Provide training, supervision and support to trainee and junior cardiac physiologists and contribute to education of medical staff

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Support Head of Local Delivery & Group Scan4Safety Systems Manager in the daily maintenance, accuracy and integrity of the Trusts IMS system.
Working closely with and under the supervision of the Head of Local Delivery & Group Scan4Safety Systems Manager and NHS Supply Chain colleagues to work collaboratively with Trust stakeholders to manage the development and maintenance of catalogues to support the IMS deployment.
Support the Head of Local Delivery with all process and business documentation for the IMS solution.
Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the Trusts IMS data, liaising with suppliers and customers as required.
Take an active role in the IMS deployment project, managing key project tasks.
Support departments relevant to the IMS with actions required for deployment, including stock checking, system training and post-implementation support.
Conduct materials management duties for areas as needed, utilising the IMS technology to check stock levels and re-order goods.
Put away stock into storerooms as required, ensuring the Trusts standardised ward stock process is followed.
Engagement of stakeholders such as NHS Supply Chain and the IMS supplier to optimise the project delivery.

Job summary
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust provides an environment where Orthoptists can develop their knowledge and skills with peer group support.
The post holder will work within a large team of Orthoptists who form part of an Ophthalmic multi-disciplinary team based at the Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre (BMEC). They will work across a number of sites including Sandwell Health Campus and community clinics to deliver orthoptic services to paediatric and adult patients. The post holder will be involved in vision screening and Community Orthoptics Outreach services.
Orthoptists are encouraged to participate in clinical audit and research to develop themselves as members of the clinical team and to share best practice within the service and other Orthoptists via the British and Irish Orthoptic Society and via publication of research.
Main duties of the job
As the Specialist Orthoptist you will be actively involved in the investigation, diagnosis and management of a wide range of ophthalmic conditions presenting to the orthoptic service. This will include patients referred from the Emergency department at BMEC.
The post holder will be required to use evidence based practice to formulate management plans and postulate prognosis. Clinical administrative duties will form part of the job role, working with other clinical colleagues to ensure safe and effective patient care.
You will be expected to demonstrate continuing professional development in line with the requirements of the Health and Care professions Council.
