Originally commissioned since 2019 by Somerset Council and recommissioned in April 2026, Step Together is an innovative service that offers a psychological, adversity and trauma (PAT) informed approach to those rough sleeping/at risk of homelessness with multiple disadvantage and complex needs (mental health, forensic history, substance use). We also advocate for system change, creatively thinking with other agencies to develop innovative ways to overcome barriers to engagement, turning these into opportunities to steer positive trauma-informed system change.
Main duties of the job
An exciting short-term opportunity has arisen for a job-share to join our existing Art Psychotherapist to continue to develop our PAT informed model and impactful creative engagement opportunities in Somerset. This is a job-share role, supporting the existing Art Psychotherapist to develop and deliver creative engagement / art therapeutic opportunities for clients within Step Together and the Housing & Homelessness system in Somerset. Working with the team, system partners and our Involvement & Coproduction coordinator, the Art Psychotherapist will create opportunities for coproduced spaces, and meaningful feedback and evaluation/audit. The Art Psychotherapist will also support the psychological therapy pathway, including the potential to develop an offer of 1:1 art therapy to clients. The role may also contribute to Psychological, Adversity and Trauma (PAT) Informed staff support through various reflective contexts (supervision, team formulation, reflective practice). Development and delivery of training, workshops and resources to build capacity of staff to embed the Psychological, Adversity and Trauma (PAT) Informed approach that is integral to the service.

In your role as Assistant Night Recovery Navigator you will work collaboratively with people with long-term mental health and complex needs. Part of your role is to support service users to have a healthy sleep hygiene, creating a calm, safe environment in the house, offering emotional support to service users and managing risks. Were looking for a permanent Night Assistant Recovery Navigator to work 3 waking nights per week. This can be either as part of the rota or working regular nights to be confirmed on appointment. The Service has 10 rooms and is open 24/7 Monday to Sunday. The waking night shift is 21:00 to 09:30 with an hours break. Open Mental Health is an alliance of local voluntary organisations and the NHS. We are working in partnership to ensure that residents of Somerset get the support they need, when they need it. Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will work in person across our Wells and Bridgwater Crisis Safe Space services. They may choose either Wells or Bridgwater as their main base, and travel expenses between the two locations will be reimbursed in line with our travel policy. We are developing the exciting community crisis provision in Bridgwater & Wells and are looking to recruit experienced, enthusiastic and empathetic individuals who put the needs of the community at the centre. The purpose of the service is to provide a safe, welcoming, comfortable place for people in immediate acute emotional distress and for those seeking to prevent the onset of a crisis in Somerset. As part of your role, you will offer therapeutic and non-clinical support and empower clients through planning, grounding techniques, coping mechanisms and identification of ongoing support. You will also be supported by peer volunteers, who will help facilitate activity/group work.

We are looking to expand our team of Bank Workers to support our mental health services in Somerset - in particular our Crisis Safe Space in Bridgwater, Wells and Frome.
Bank Workers have the freedom to pick up ad hoc shifts at the times which interest them.
This role will particularly suit applicants who are looking for flexibility and are interested in varying shift patterns to supplement an existing income.
Shifts at our Crisis Safe Space are 5:30pm-11pm.
These may be advertised on weekdays or weekends at our sites in Bridgwater, Frome, and/or Wells.
This service is for individuals in Somerset who need immediate and short-term crisis prevention and do not require more intensive care from either an emergency or inpatient service.

These involve a fixed number of hours with a service for a set period. Some Bank Workers also take interest in permanent employment with us after working on our Bank and have access to our internal adverts.

- Experience of providing practical and emotional support to enable the client to take up the responsibilities of their own recovery.
- Proven experience of working with people with multiple needs (e.g. mental health, homelessness, alcohol/drug dependency long term conditions)
