We are looking for Facilities Service Assistants to join our Community Hospital teams. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will play an important part in supporting patient care by helping to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and colleagues.
Main duties of the job
As a Facilities Service Assistant, you will support the day-to-day running of hospital facilities services. Depending on service needs, your duties may include housekeeping, cleaning, catering and portering activities.
You will work as part of a dedicated facilities team, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, food hygiene and customer service are maintained throughout the hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out cleaning duties across wards, patient rooms, bathrooms, offices, kitchens and communal areas.
- Support the delivery of meals, snacks and beverages to patients.
- Maintain safe and hygienic environments in line with infection prevention standards.
- Handle waste and linen safely and appropriately.
- Complete cleaning schedules, monitoring forms and departmental records.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and report any faults or maintenance issues.
- Maintain stock levels and assist with ordering supplies.
- Respond professionally and courteously to patients, visitors and colleagues.
- Support apprentices and new team members where required.
- Work flexibly to support service needs across hospital sites.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and motivated NMC registered Mental Health Nurse to join our Community Mental Health Service in Bridgwater on a 12 month secondment or fixed term contract.
This role offers the chance to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality care to people with severe and enduring mental health difficulties. The successful candidate will support a number of specialist clinics, including the Depot Clinic, Clozapine Clinic and Wellbeing Clinic, providing medication administration, physical health monitoring and ongoing mental health support.
Alongside clinic responsibilities, the post holder will play an active role in the team's duty system, supporting assessments, responding to urgent referrals and contributing to the delivery of recovery-focused care across the wider Community Mental Health Team.
Due to the community-based nature of the role, applicants must hold current NMC registration and be able to travel independently across the Bridgwater locality
Main duties of the job
- Support the delivery of the Depot Clinic, Clozapine Clinic and Wellbeing Clinic, ensuring safe administration and monitoring of prescribed medications.
- Monitor service users' mental and physical health, escalating concerns appropriately and supporting positive health outcomes.
- Undertake mental health assessments and contribute to the development, implementation and review of recovery-focused care plans.
- Participate in the team's daily duty function, responding to urgent referrals, risk concerns and service user enquiries.
- Support the wider Community Mental Health Team with assessments, care coordination and clinical interventions.
- Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with service users, carers and partner agencies to promote recovery and independence.
- Assess and manage risk, contributing to effective risk management and safeguarding processes.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service development, audit and quality improvement activities.

The Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT) is an expanding service that provides support and intervention to patients transitioning from secure care to the community, working inline with the South West Provider Collaborative (SWPC).
We are looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated and experienced Band 6 mental health professional. This is an exciting post in an innovative developing service and we are aiming to develop a highly skilled team.
The team are responsible for overseeing the care of Somerset patients who are currently detained to a secure hospital within the South West region. We also offer specialist advice and guidance to mental health and other relevant services.
You'll care coordinate a small caseload with support from an expert MDT. You will also be able to develop your skills and expertise in providing specialist advice and consultation to other professionals.
The team office will be in Bridgwater, however there will be an expected element of reimbursed travel across the County of Somerset and the South West Provider Collaborative region. This is likely to include travel to Langdon hospital (Devon) and Fromeside hospital (Bristol) as well as Wellesley hospital in Wellington, Somerset.

The Unit has 12 treatment chairs, a phlebotomy/PICC clinic and outpatient clinic rooms. We operate Monday to Friday

Job summary
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team on Rowan Ward 2, a 15 bedded adult inpatient mental health ward based at the Summerlands Hospital site, Yeovil.
This is a substantive 10 PA post, with the option of an additional 1.25 PA for on-call duties.
The postholder will provide clinical leadership for the ward, act as Responsible Clinician for all inpatients, and work closely with community, specialist, and inpatient services across the Trust. The role includes assessing and managing complex cases, leading ward rounds, contributing to service development, and supervising trainees. As stated in the document, you will "assess and formulate care plans for the ward caseload... including leading on high risk, complex care and medication reviews" .
You will join a well established MDT including RMNs, HCAs, psychologists, trainees, OTs, and administrative support.
The Trust offers strong opportunities for CPD, research involvement, leadership development, and flexible working. Monthly supervision, peer groups, and up to 10 days of study leave per year are provided.

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a fulltime Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist to join our team at Yeovil District Hospital (YDH).

Role Overview: The post holder will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, management, and advice for patients admitted to YDH who require mental health input during their inpatient stay. You will work closely with acute hospital colleagues, mental health teams, and wider multidisciplinary services to support high-quality, integrated care.
Cross-Site Working: Some cross cover with Musgrove Park Hospital may be required during periods of colleague leave.

Main duties of the job
Assessment and Management - Support existing liaison staff in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of adults presenting with mental health problems
Medical Leadership - Provide senior medical expertise to YDH teams caring for patients with functional or organic mental health conditions. This includes supervising the clinical caseload of liaison team members and overseeing the work of any trainee doctors attached to the service.
Clinical Decision Making -- Work with the liaison team to determine the most appropriate interventions for referred patients. Responsibilities include facilitating safe and timely discharge planning and ensuring effective communication with Primary Care, Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs), and Inpatient Services. The Consultant will provide clinical leadership, particularly for patients with complex needs or elevated risk.
Responsible Clinician Duties - Act as the Responsible Clinician (RC) under the Mental Health Act for patients detained at YDH. During periods of annual or study leave for Musgrove Park Hospital (MPH) consultants, RC responsibility will transfer to this post.
Liaison with Acute Hospital Teams - Develop and maintain effective working relationships with medical, surgical, nursing, and allied health professionals within the acute hospital. Provide advice on the application of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act where relevant.
Special Interests may be developed through discussion and agreement at job plan review meetings.

The Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) for older people work with adults aged 65 and over who are experiencing moderate or severe mental illness. The CMHT's assess, treat, monitor, and support patients and their families predominately in their own homes and, where necessary, can refer to other teams such as the Intensive Dementia Service (IDS) or Home Treatment Team. They can also arrange admissions to hospital when necessary. The CMHT's also provide an 'in-reach service', providing specialist support and assessments for patients' admitted to Community Hospitals.

Main duties of the job
Deliver high quality CT and/or MRI imaging, ensuring safe, efficient and patient centred examinations across both Yeovil District Hospital and the brand new Bridgwater Community Diagnostic Centre.
Rotate through our state of the art CDC, working with the latest scanners and streamlined pathways to support faster diagnosis and improved patient access.
Use advanced clinical skills to plan, perform and adapt a wide range of cross sectional imaging examinations, making real time decisions to optimise image quality.
Cannulate patients and administer contrast safely in line with PGDs and Trust protocols.
Prioritise and coordinate daily workflow, ensuring smooth patient throughput and effective use of scanner time.
Work autonomously within a supportive team, contributing to extended hours and oncall services as required.
Support and mentor junior radiographers, students and support staff, helping to build skills and confidence within the team.

We welcome applications for the role of Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our team based at Yeovil District Hospital in Somerset. This is an excellent opportunity for you to bring forward fresh ideas, drive service improvement and introduce new initiatives.
We have a newly opened diagnostic centre featuring state of the art equipment, modern facilities and providing an excellent working environment. We are a JAG accredited service demonstrating a commitment to high standards and quality patient care.
The role attracts a 10 PA per week job plan and includes participation in the GI bleed on-call rota (approximately one weekday every two weeks and one weekend every eight weeks).
Within this job plan you will provide specialist diagnosis and management of gastroenterology, hepatology and general medical patients at YDH. You will maintain responsibility for inpatient and outpatient care, respond to referrals from primary care and other specialties, and offer expert gastroenterology input across the Trust. The role includes caring for acute and elective gastroenterology patients, supporting the development of nurse led endoscopy services, and managing a wide range of conditions in outpatient clinics.
You will ensure clinical practice meets governance standards, engage in annual appraisal and revalidation, maintain effective communication with colleagues and external partners, and support service development with awareness of NHS budgeting considerations.

- Diagnosis and management of patients with Gastroenterological and general medical conditions.
- Continuing responsibility for care of patients in liaison with consultant colleagues.
- Respond to and manage in- and outpatient referrals from primary care and other specialties.

Schedule patients into appropriate theatre lists, ensuring the surgeons requirements are followed, hospital systems are checked for essential booking information, there is a suitable anaesthetist, all equipment will be present and available, any special bed requests are ordered, and the order of the theatre list is suitable for the surgeon, along with managing the patients' social needs and availability.
Follow and implement waiting list policies, paying particular attention to the 18 week RTT national rules, clock rules for diagnostic tests and the Trust's Access Policy. Negotiate with patients when they wish to cancel admission dates so that they understand that any further cancellation or delay may result in their being removed from the waiting list following the Clinical Review process. Ensure information conveyed to the patient and Clinical Reviewer is clear and accurate so that a fair and appropriate decision can be made on the patient's future care.
Communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with patients/parents/carers as the need arises. Use reassurance and negotiation skills with tact on a daily basis over the telephone and face to face: patients are often very anxious at the prospect of admission to hospital for operations and procedures, so a calm and empathic approach is essential.

We are looking for two Faster Diagnosis Administrators to join our friendly and supportive team, based across Musgrove Park Hospital and Yeovil Hospital.

Main duties of the job
- Process and manage all cancer referrals promptly in line with departmental policy and Cancer Waiting Times targets including the 28 Day Faster Diagnosis Standard.

- Work closely with Faster Diagnosis Nurses and Coordinators to support efficient and timely triage and pathway management.

Main duties of the job

You will join a team of 7 consultants supported by junior doctors, physician associates, and a robust multidisciplinary team. Our co-located Same Day Emergency Care Unit provides cutting-edge care for ambulant patients.
Main Responsibilities of the Job
Clinical Leadership: Provide expert care across AMU, SDEC, and ED; lead medical take, post-take ward rounds, referrals, and timely discharges.
Service Development: Shape clinical protocols, streamline patient pathways, and strengthen links with community services.
On-Call Duties: Participate in the GIM rota (currently 1 in 16 weekends per year).
Education & Mentorship: Support postgraduate doctors, locally employed clinicians, and medical students from the University of Bristol.
Specialist Interest: 2 PAs dedicated to your chosen specialty (e.g., frailty, perioperative medicine, acute oncology, palliative care, medical education).
Research & Audit: Engage in audits, quality improvement, and research projects.
Governance & Teamwork: Maintain GMC standards, participate in appraisals, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
