The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive HR Services Administrator to join our HR team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting recruitment, contractual changes, employee records management and workforce administration across the Trust
Main duties of the job
As a HR Services Administrator, you will provide a comprehensive and efficient administration service, supporting managers and employees throughout the employee lifecycle. You will be responsible for coordinating recruitment activity, processing contractual changes, maintaining accurate workforce data and ensuring compliance with NHS employment checks and safer recruitment standards.
Working closely with managers and colleagues across the Trust, you will:
- Coordinate recruitment campaigns from advert to appointment.
- Prepare interview documentation and candidate correspondence.
- Undertake pre-employment checks in line with NHS Employment Check Standards
- Issue offers of employment and contracts.
- Maintain accurate records on ESR and other HR systems.
- Support payroll-related employee changes and workforce administration.
- Respond to queries from managers, employees and external applicants.
- Contribute to service improvements and the delivery of a professional, customer-focused HR service.

The role of a Materials Management Assistant is to ensure that an effective and efficient procurement service in regard to the ordering and replenishment of agreed consumable stock throughout the organisation(s) is provided to all end-users, making sure that all goods are ordered and received in a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
To provide internal supply chain services (materials management) using electronic receipts system and bar code data capture system;
Unpack and check items against delivery records and take corrective action where necessary (whilst maintaining audit records);
Provide a materials management service to purchase regular stock and non stock items to meet ward/department requirements
Ensuring stock rotation and replenishing products in accordance with agreed procedures;
Ensuring stock levels are maintained and goods are put away in a timely manner on receipt;
To ensure all designated stock is managed and replenished to the agreed level using a hand held bar code scanner, raising stock and non stock requisitions;
Unpack, check and book in deliveries;
Liaise with internal staff and external suppliers on stock management;
Investigate and solve delivery and payment issues;
Produce stock reports/data analysis to advise ward/department managers and finance staff on purchasing patterns/costs;
Process purchase orders and recommend sources of supply/savings to customers.
Respond to FSN (Field Safety Notices) received via logistic leads.
Deputise for the Logistics Supervisor when required.

The successful candidate will be required to work agile and flexibly across multiple hospital sites for planned periods and will receive appropriate training and support for the systems, processes and working practices at each location. Health Procurement Liverpool (HPL) is a single shared procurement service for:Alder Hey Children's Hospital;Clatterbridge Cancer Centre;Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital;The Walton Centre. As an Education Administrator, you will have the opportunity to complete a Level 3 Learning & Development Practitioner Apprenticeship, whilst working in a busy Training & Development Office, supporting the administration of the function and developing your skills in facilitation and delivery.
You will learn all aspects of the Training & Development function at a specialist Trust, renowned for the support and development of its staff and will work in an established and supportive Team.
Main duties of the job
The Education Administrator will play an integral role within the integrated Education Department, primarily supporting Training & Development, in particular the vocational learning element of the function and ensuring that a consistent and effective approach is taken to administration across the Team, as well as providing administrative support to the core T&D function. The post holder will become confident in developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Adhering to and maintaining robust administrative procedures, particularly in relation to the Trust study leave process, the Education Administrator will ensure all policies and procedures are followed and that study leave applications are processed in a timely and effective manner.Supporting the Vocational Learning Coordinator in relation to the administration of work experience programmes, pre-employment and apprenticeships as well as study leave for existing staff, the Education Administrator will develop a full understanding of the development of employees at all levels.
Contributing to the running of the Education Centre, the Apprentice Education Administrator will support with facilities enquiries and the provision of an effective service for internal and external customers. Job summary
SMART stands for surgical and medical acute response team. The SMART nurse will work within the existing team and be a clinically credible nurse who is proficient and experienced in looking after the critically ill and deteriorating patient. They will have a thorough understanding of what track, trigger, respond and escalate entails within the scope of the deteriorating patient. They will also form part of the cardiac arrest team and become an ALS provider.On a daily basis the SMART nurse will review known patients and assess new patients in a time appropriate manner who are considered at risk by the MDT who express a clinical concern or those patients who trigger via the use of NEWS2.The SMART nurse will receive and triage calls through the bleep system carrying out tasks within own scope of practice where possible. The band 7 role will be pivitol in providing safe care in hospital at night and will become the unit bleep holder and assist in bed management overnight. They will provide both clinical and managerial leadership and support the rest of the team. The role covers a 24hour service 7 days a week by rotating onto days and nights and the willingness to be flexible is essential to ensure the service can be delivered.

To perform physical examination and assessment utilising the A-E approach to formulate an appropriate care plan.Utilise None-medical prescribing qualifications or PGD's to manage patients.To be a non-medical clinical imaging referrer.To provide ongoing assessment and follow up of all level 2/3 critical care discharged patients.To review daily the weaning progress and formulate a plan of care with the tracheostomy daily MDT and provide support and education to staff looking after these patients.To form part of the hospital resuscitation teamTo be proficient in the safe inter/intra hospital transfer of acutely unwell, critically ill or tracheostomy patientsTo understand their scope of practice and be able to seek expert advice and assistance when required and escalate patients in a time appropriate manner.To act as a mentor and role model to the MDT and disseminate progress with senior members of staff.

Under the supervision of a registered nurse assisting the Ward / Department team in providing the highest possible standard of care for patients and their families/carer. The post holder will undertake a range of tasks and duties as delegated by a registered nurse.
The post is advertised at Band 3, however applicants who do not yet meet all Band 3 competencies may be appointed at Band 2 on a developmental basis. The Trust will support successful candidates appointed at Band 2 to achieve the required competencies, with progression to Band 3 once these are met.
Competencies must be achieved within a maximum of 6 months.

Main duties of the job
- Promotes effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team and takesmeasures to overcome communication difficulties

Job summary
Lipton ward is 1 of only 3 neuro trauma Hyper acute wards in the country, working closely and collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and may be required to demonstrate procedures to and supervise qualified and unqualified staff. The post holder may occasionally have to take charge of a ward in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility.
Main duties of the job
o Participate in the training of other nursing staff, including basic and post basic learners in consultation with Sister/Charge Nurse wherever applicable.
o Control and co-ordinate activities of the ward team in the absence of Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
o Be aware of, and adhere to, all the Trust policies and procedures and standards of care.
o Maintain high standards of nursing care and review these standards with the Ward Manager.
o Participate as a named nurse for a small group of patients.
o Assist subordinate staff to understand their role in the unit team.
o Be aware of the economic use of ward equipment and stores.
o Ensure adequate security, administration, proper use and recording of dangerous drugs in accordance with hospital policy.
o Ensure up to date knowledge of new equipment being used.

Job summary

Applications are invited form suitably qualified doctors for the post. The Functional team includes 2 Consultants, 2 Clinical fellow, 1 Specialist registrars,1 Research fellow 4 Specialist Nurses (Neuromodulation and Movement Disorders), 2 physiotherapist and 1 OT. The Functional fellow will participate in the MDT in the different areas of the functional service (Pain, Movement Disorders, Epilepsy) and will cover Mrs D. Bhargava and Mr Osman Farah clinics. Other Specialist functional clinics covered by the fellow include Pump/spasticity clinic, neuromodulation clinic and DBS/movement disorder clinic.
This is a post that offers one year training in Functional Neurosurgery including Surgery for Movement Disorders, Complex Epilepsy, Chronic Pain, Spasticity and resection in eloquent areas. The post will be suitable for trainees nearing completion of their neurosurgical training and seeking to develop a sub-specialist interest in Functional Neurosurgery and complex epilepsy.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have a commitment to the on-call rota. This post is RCSEng Senior Clinical fellowship scheme recognised.The fellow in Functional Neurosurgery will participate in the neurosurgical specialist registrar "on-call" rota. The Trust currently has a 2 tier system for the on-call, the 1st on-call are the more junior trainees and the 2nd on-call the more senior trainees. The amount of time dedicated to the functional syllabus will depend on the tier on call - if on the second tier then the 1:8 on call will occupy approximately 20% of the individuals working week leaving 80% for functional work; if on the first tier then these figures are 40% and 60%. If the applicant has a completed CCT then he/she can expect to be on the second tier, but this will be assessed by the Clinical Director following appointment.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right person to join our team. We are a Complex rehabilitation unit with 30 beds, all which are side rooms. We provide care and treatment to patients with complex needs and work closely with the multi disciplinary team (MDT). Our main priority is to find people with the rights values, behaviours and attitudes that match our own. We are looking for staff who are committed, compassionate, trustworthy, patient orientated with excellent interpersonal and listening skills. Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic and forward thinking pharmacist with experience in Neurosurgery to join our pharmacy team. You will work as part of the neurosciences pharmacy team to provide pharmacy services to The Walton Centre, a specialist Trust which provides tertiary neurology, neurosurgery, spinal and pain management services to a wide catchment area.
The Pharmacy Department in LUHFT delivers a full pharmacy service to The Walton Centre (WCFT; based on the same site). This post will be based within WCFT but work closely with colleagues within other Trusts to standardise services relating to medicines management where appropriate, and to maximise quality, safety, productivity and efficiency.
This will include a commitment to Neuro ITU, developing/updating policies, clinical guidelines, and involvement in quality improvement projects relating to medicines within the Trust.
The role includes representing supporting the WCFT at Cheshire and Mersey Area Prescribing Group subgroups when required and the North Wales Medicines Management Group, and participation in the Walton Centre Drugs and Therapeutics Committee.
You will also participate in in the well established pharmacist prescribing service for patients newly admitted on the morning of their elective neurosurgery.
Experiential learning along with experience of medicines management or governance roles, and current (or imminent) registration as a prescriber. Experiences working in a tertiary centre would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
Assist the WCFT Operational and Clinical Lead Pharmacist in the development of pharmacy services and medicines management within The Walton Centre.
Assist the WCFT Operational and Clinical Lead Pharmacist in leading and managing the neurosciences pharmacy team.
Assist the WCFT Operational and Clinical Lead Pharmacist in acting as a primary point of contact for senior staff and departments across WCFT for advice and guidance regarding medicines related issues
Assist the WCFT Operational and Clinical Lead Pharmacist in reviewing compliance with CQC and other national standards at WCFT.

We have two exciting opportunities for experienced and motivated nurses to join our Neurology Specialist Nursing team:
- 1 x Neurology Nurse Specialist (Multiple Sclerosis)

As a Neurology Nurse Specialist, you will play a key role in providing expert clinical care and support to patients living with long-term neurological conditions. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver specialist assessment, advice, treatment planning, and ongoing management for patients throughout their care journey.
The successful candidates will provide high-quality, patient-centred care across the Cheshire and Merseyside region, with possible involvement in services provided in North Wales.
This post is advertised at Band 7. Job summary
Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellowship in Neurology with a subspecialist focus on neuroimmunology and demyelinating disorders, particularly neuromyelitis optica spectrum disease (NMOSD) and MOG antibody associated disease (MOGAD). The post is based at the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, the UK's busiest standalone neurosciences hospital, and one of two nationally commissioned centres for NMOSD in England. The service is delivered in partnership with the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. This post is also accredited as an Advanced Clinical Training Fellowship (ACTF) in MS and non-MS neuroinflammation.
The fellowship is suitable for:
- Neurology trainees seeking out-of-programme experience (OOPE)
- Pre- or post-CCT neurologists looking to gain subspecialist clinical and research expertise in neuroimmunology and demyelinating disease
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join a busy national NMOSD, MS and autoimmune neurology service, with additional exposure to antibody mediated central nervous system disorders and paediatric demyelination. The post is primarily clinical, but there are extensive opportunities for academic involvement, including the Autoimmune Neurology Group at the University of Liverpool.
Applicants will be encouraged and supported to pursue original research. Prior experience with academic writing or publications is highly desirable. Mentorship in grant writing, abstract development, and paper authorship will be provided. Fellows are expected to contribute to the academic output of the service.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and organised individual to join the Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network as a data administrator. The post holder will play a key role in supporting the collection, management and reporting of rehabilitation outcome data for The Walton Centre's Network Hub and Spoke Units through the UK Rehabilitation Outcomes Collaborative (UKROC) database. Job summary
The Senior Category Lead will be responsible for strategic procurement activities across Health Procurement Liverpool (HPL) whilst supporting the Procurement and Contract Manager and Head of Procurement in the delivery of the HPL Procurement Strategy and national procurement agendas.

Main duties of the job

1. To provide strategic financial advice and business planning input to stakeholders, including the Executive Directors, Senior Management and both clinical and support staff advising in particular on the capital and cash flow implications of options under consideration.

Job summary
The Division of Neurology at The Walton Centre wishes to appoint to the intermediate tier of Rehabilitation Medicine. This is an existing post created from the Merseyside QIPP Board establishing a Rehabilitation work stream, recognising the need for a comprehensive and integrated response to the rehabilitation needs of patients experiencing a sudden and devastating loss of function following an acute event such as major trauma, amputation, subarachnoid haemorrhage, encephalitis, or an episode of significant illness requiring an extended stay on critical care etc. As all the posts will make use of the extensive training opportunities available within the Hub - Walton Centre. This post will suit anyone wanting to gain wide experience of Rehabilitation Medicine, whilst continuing to use some of their current skills such as acute/general medicine, general surgery, trauma, neurology.
WCFT has been identified to provide the hub service, on the basis in part of existing provision (30 level 1 neuro-rehabilitation beds).
Overall co-ordination of the access and management of the patient pathway through the service is via a centralised clinical management team. Each hub and spoke unit have dedicated Rehabilitation Consultants. All appointees must be eligible for full medical registration, with a licence to practice. Preference will be given to applicants having certificated levels of competence.
Main duties of the job
1. Medical supervision of day-to-day operation of the unit:
a) recognition and appropriate management of acutely ill patients, initiating treatment and/or requesting specialised help as required.
b) Effective liaison with other specialities to ensure the acute and chronic medical needs of all patients are met.
c) Independent ward rounds
d) working in coordinated way with MDT
e) coordination of arrangements for safe periods of weekend leave
f) responsibility for ensuring decisions made at consultant ward round and at MDT meeting are timely enacted
g) responsibility for ensuring collation and availability of results and other information required for consultant ward rounds and MDT meetings.
2. Attendance at consultant ward round and MDT meeting.
3. Provide cover for the Registrars for short periods of absence from the unit. When the Registrar is away on leave, effective daily communication with the consultant responsible.
4. Communication and liaison with family, GPs and other consultants. Completion and signing of MDT discharge summaries on in-patients on the unit.
5. Weekly out-patient clinic opportunity available
6. Availability for ward referrals as directed by rehabilitation consultant.
7. Involvement in collection of outcome data.
8. Attend clinical governance sessions

Main duties of the job
- To assess, review treatment, to inpatients referred to the liaison neuropsychiatry service in the Walton Centre as well as spoke units at Broadgreen Rehabilitation Unit and Elyn Lodge, St Helens and outpatients referred to the Neuropsychiatry Specialist Nurse Clinic ( follow up).
- To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring agreed interventions are employed and advise medical, therapist and nursing staff on optimal management of patients with mental health needs in general neurosurgical/neurology and rehabilitation units.
- To participate and organise sessions of education and training of management of mental health and brain injury problems in the Walton Centre and rehabilitation units.
- You will be accountable for your own professional actions, not directly supervised, and receive clinical supervision.
