Job summary
We are looking for a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to join our forward thinking dietetic team.
You will be involved in providing part of the Dietetic Service with a variety of patients. This is a new role that will support an existing rotational specialist team who cover acute nutrition support, gastroenterology and upper/lower GI surgery.
You will be provided with regular supervision and CPD opportunities in order to develop your clinical skills. We are committed to improving our patient experience and clinical dietetic pathways and there will be opportunities to be involved with both current and new projects within the team.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to undertake various tasks. You will need to have a flexible approach to work being able to adapt and prioritise according to the needs of the team.
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for a patient caseload under the supervision of a Registered dietitian
- Liaise with members of the MDT to coordinate and support the nutritional care of patients on the caseload
- Provide additional administrative support to manage the dietetic caseload, helping to ensure that the patient pathways are maintained and appropriate care is delivered.

This is an ideal opportunity to support the area with your expert clinical knowledge.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Senior Midwife to lead and manage the Antenatal Clinic on the Queens Hospital Burton site.
The successful applicant will have a bespoke induction and support package tailored to their development needs.
Main duties of the job
As a senior midwife for Antenatal Clinic you will take overall responsibility and accountability in ensuring women, babies and families receive safe, clinically effective, women centred care across the whole maternity care pathway.
You will lead by example, offer expert midwifery clinical advice, operationally support and manage teams and services ensuring the delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate midwifery care.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver care to women and babies within acute or community clinical environments whose needs are complex.
You will work flexibly across the service in supporting the delivery of midwifery care, using a range of service models, including continuity of carer. Senior midwives provide expert clinical and professional midwifery leadership and are accountable for the women, babies, public and staff experience. This will be in line with local, Trust wide and national policies, procedures, values and behaviours.

The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton operate dialysis services across three sites delivering both acute and chronic haemodialysis. As we continue to expand our dialysis provision, we are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for new team members to join us at our Derby Dialysis Unit.
Previous experience in renal dialysis is not required, as comprehensive support is provided for all staff. Our Practice Development Facilitator ensures that every new starter receives guidance and mentoring throughout their induction. In addition, a carefully designed competency package is available to help new team members develop the skills for the role. Training will take place on the Derby site.
To succeed in this position, you must demonstrate adaptability in the working environment and be willing to further your clinical skills. The Renal Dialysis Units are operational from Monday to Saturday, offering dialysis sessions to patients in the morning, afternoon and evening. Flexibility is essential, as you will be expected to cover shifts across these hours, working four days per week. Opportunities for cross-site working are also supported, providing further avenues for professional development.

- Delivering haemodialysis treatment to CKD patients who attend the unit 3 times a week.

We provide a full range of patient-focused services, including hyper-acute & acute stroke care, inpatient rehabilitation and early supported discharge. We also deliver a comprehensive TIA service.
Working closely with colleagues across the Trust within radiology, neurology, vascular surgery and critical care, we aim for the highest standards of patient care across both sites.

Main duties of the job
The UHDB Stroke Centre provides Stroke & TIA services for University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. The geographical area served is wide and the population diverse. We currently treat around 1400 stroke patients per year. Operating across 3 hospital sites: the Royal Derby Hospital (RDH), Queens Hospital Burton (QHB) and Florence Nightingale Community Hospital (FNCH).
There are currently 13 stroke specialist consultants within the Centre, supported by a team of resident doctors in training grades, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and a multidisciplinary team of stroke specific allied health professionals. Our clinical team is enhanced by a dedicated Neuroradiology team, and a nationally recognised Vascular Radiology service. The regional vascular surgery unit is co-located with the Stroke Centre; the neurovascular MDT provides rapid access to carotid surgery enabling surgical treatment of carotid lesions within 2 weeks of symptom onset.
Rapid access TIA clinics run 6-days a week at RDH and 5-days a week at QHB, with access to vascular imaging and relevant neuroradiology. Routine outpatient services are located in the Medical Outpatient Department at the RDH and QHB. Consultants and registrars provide outpatient Stroke clinics, chiefly delivering post-acute investigation and secondary prevention.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cardiorespiratory Team for Receptionist Administrator. You will be required to work Monday to Friday working 08:00 to 16:00 and/or 09:00 to 17:00 in CardioRespiratory or Chest Pain Unit.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team player with excellent communication & problem solving skills looking to develop into the role. You will require high levels of tact and diplomacy with the ability to prioritise your own workload effectively . You will be working alongside a number of receptionist administrators, consultants and various other clinical staff covering a wide range of receptionist and clerical duties to include managing patient calls and queries, clinic preparation, appointment scheduling. Therefore, a flexible approach to workload is required.

We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician with knowledge and experience of Outsourced Services.
The UHDB High-Cost Drugs and Outsourcing Team is a welcoming, friendly and inclusive team who are committed to improving the service provided to our patients.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Outsourced Services. You will be responsible for working collaboratively with Service Providers to ensure they are meeting consistently high standards through monitoring of service delivery. You will also work to identify areas for development of outsourced services.
The successful candidate will need to have exceptional communication skills, to be conscientious, reliable, well organised and able to prioritise their own workload. The post offers opportunities for development and we are looking for an enthusiastic individual who wants to grow and develop. There will be a requirement to participate in weekend and bank holiday working on a rotational basis.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring Complementary Therapist to join our Community Palliative Care Team (CPCT). This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide holistic, person-centred complementary therapies to palliative care patients, their relatives and carers within their own homes across the community.
Working alongside specialist nurses, palliative medicine consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help improve quality of life by supporting the management of symptoms such as pain, anxiety, stress and sleep disturbance through complementary therapies.
Therapies may include Aromatherapy, Massage, Reflexology, Reiki, Relaxation and visualisation techniques and Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD).

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen in Histopathology, as part of Derbyshire Pathology, for an Expert Biomedical Scientist (BMS), with proven experience in laboratory leadership who has a specialist interest in being the training lead.
Derbyshire Pathology was formed on the 1st July 2018, of the laboratories at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Royal Derby Hospital, with Queens Hospital Burton joining in October 2021. The Histopathology Department is based on the site of Royal Derby Hospital, and operates an extended day and week shift system (please contact for details). There is an appetite for continuing laboratory transformation, and we are implementing the full digitisation of the Histopathology Service.
Derby has been at the forefront of BMS dissection since 2005, and as such, has a long established and successful in house training and competency programme, pioneering extended biomedical scientist dissection and BMS reporting.
Experience of line management and team leadership are required for this role, as you will be expected to actively manage and develop staff in your section, and to liaise with the Histology Manager and other Expert BMS's, to deliver a high quality, efficient, and unified Histology laboratory service.
Main duties of the job
Leading within Histology, therefore familiarisation, understanding and experience of UKAS standards is essential; Health & Safety requirements; NEQAS, audit and training/education experience is also required. Familiarisation of LIMS implementation is desirable.
Experience of utilising lean methodologies to drive change and improve service is desirable. Candidates should be proactive, self-motivated, and enthusiastic. Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills are essential.
- To support the Quality Assurance / Training programmes alongside the Histology Manager and Cellular Pathology Service Manager
- Supervise, train and develop laboratory staff
- Participate in other sections of the Histology service when required
- To support molecular pathology testing within histopathology
- Work with team leaders to develop staff to meet team objectives
- Delegated responsibility for the day to day management of the laboratory functions in an effective and efficient way ensuring the area works within the Standard Operating Procedures laid down by senior management

Job summary
We are excited to offer the following opportunity for doctors wishing to join our well established CESR rotation at the Royal Derby Hospital (UHDB).
You will commence with a fixed term Specialty Doctor contract in Emergency Medicine for 12 months and providing satisfactory progress is made at the end of the first year, successful candidates will have the option to progress onto the CESR programme.
Following successful progression through the programme, we will be able to guarantee specific secondment-style modules in the CESR programme - secondments offered include Anaesthetics, ITU, Acute Medicine and Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
In addition you will be allocated a designated Consultant supervisor for the duration of the rotation, as well as a CESR mentor.
You will be expected to participate in the 24-hour Emergency Department Middle Grade rota.
The post holder must be registered with the GMC and hold a full licence to practice.
Main duties of the job
*Participation in the ED 24/7 middle grade rota.
*The ability to cover the whole range of clinical responsibility for both those patients seen in the Emergency Department and inpatients on our observation ward.
*To gain competencies over time with support and development to be able to manage the ED overnight.
*Clinical duties will include taking a lead role in the management of acutely ill and trauma patients. The qualities of leadership required as head of an emergency team are stressed and it is anticipated that these qualities will be gradually learned through the process of supervision of more junior doctors and involvement in their education, both formal and informal.
*To prioritise and time-manage effectively according to the activity of the department and to utilise appropriately the available senior staff for advice.
*Education - to be fully involved in supporting the training of all levels of staff: medical; nursing; para-medical.
*Quality improvement - you will be expected to assume responsibility (under the supervision of a Consultant) for a specific audit topic or quality improvement project.

The Emergency Department at the Royal Derby Hospital provides a 24-hour emergency service to a population in excess of 600,000. There is a separate Childrens ED, which is co-located with the Adult ED.
There is a six-bedded adult emergency observation/treatment ward within the Adult ED to facilitate overnight observation of appropriate patients. There is also a GP unit co-located next to the department.

The Emergency Department at the Royal Derby Hospital provides a 24-hour emergency service to a population in excess of 600,000. There is a separate Childrens ED, which is co-located with the Adult ED.
There is a six-bedded adult emergency observation/treatment ward within the Adult ED to facilitate overnight observation of appropriate patients. There is also a GP unit co-located next to the department.
A peer review by the College of Emergency Medicine praised the department, saying they were impressed with the dedication of the (Consultant) team, and their desire to remain at the forefront of emergency care. We have a new and exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals to join our Cancer Business Unit within our Oncology department as a Clinical Nurse Specialist supporting the patient pathways for metastatic and non metastatic cancers for Lung cancer patients.
You will be joining an established team of dynamic Lung cancer CNS's . You will be part of a team that deliver specialist nursing whilst maintaining and developing a quality service. You will act as the patient's advocate maintaining privacy and dignity, and provide advice and support to junior staff and learners in all aspects of the delivery of highquality care.
This role will also provide support, advice and education to patients/ significant others in the management of their care.
Main duties of the job
Substantial nursing experience in oncology nursing at band 6/7 is preferable. You will need to be flexible, reliable and patient focused. You will work closely with the consultant team in delivering patient centred care.
There is a requirement to work between both Derby and Burton sites, however theses posts are predominately RDH (Royal Derby Hospital) based.

The Deputy General Manager will support the General Manager in the operational, performance and financial management of the Cancer Business Unit, encompassing Oncology, Haematology, Palliative Care, Radiotherapy, Lymphoedema and Familial Cancer services. Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate experienced registered nurse to join the Specialist Palliative Care Service at UHDB as a Specialist Palliative Care Development Nurse.
This developmental Band 6 role offers a unique 18-month rotational fixed term contract or secondment across our specialist palliative care services, including the Nightingale Macmillan Inpatient Unit, Ward 2 (EOLC ward) at FNCH, Hospital Palliative Care Team at RDH + QHB and Community Palliative Care Team across Derbyshire. As a supernumerary member of the team, you will receive structured support and development to build the knowledge, skills and confidence required to become a specialist practitioner in palliative and end-of-life care.
Working alongside experienced nursing and medical colleagues, you will contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of holistic, person-centred care for patients with complex palliative and supportive care needs. You will also provide advice, education and support to patients, families and multidisciplinary teams across a variety of healthcare settings.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, resilience, professionalism and a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
Main duties of the job
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating holistic, person-centred care for patients with specialist palliative and end-of-life care needs.
- Supporting patients, families and carers by providing expert advice, information and emotional support throughout their care journey.
- Developing specialist knowledge in symptom management, communication and complex palliative care, supported by a structured programme of education and mentorship.
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across acute, community and hospice settings to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care.
- Acting as a patient advocate, maintaining dignity, respect and compassionate care at all times.
- Providing support, guidance and education to colleagues, patients and carers, contributing to the development of palliative and end-of-life care knowledge across services.
- Participating in nurse-led triage, care coordination and service development activities as your knowledge and competence develop.
- Contributing to audit, quality improvement, research and educational initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
- Working across multiple sites and clinical environments within the specialist palliative care service, supported by experienced clinical and professional leaders.

A new opportunity has arisen in UHDB Voluntary services for a Voluntary Services Secretary/Administrator.
The Voluntary Services Secretary/Administrator is a key administrative support role within the Voluntary Services Team, providing day to day operational and clerical support to the Voluntary Services Manager and Voluntary Services Coordinators. The post helps ensure the smooth running of volunteer services across all Trust sites and supports the recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and administration of volunteers.
The post holder is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the Voluntary Services Team, ensuring volunteer records, recruitment processes, meetings, events, communications, and financial administration are managed efficiently and in line with Trust policies.

Job summary
You will be joining a friendly and supportive Rheumatology Department which provides comprehensive Rheumatology services for Derby and Burton together with South Derbyshire/East Staffordshire and some parts of adjoining areas of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.
The Rheumatology Department is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Specialist Nurse to work within the Rheumatology team.

Main duties of the job
Under direction of the Lead Specialist Nurse
- Deliver care to defined case load of patients in an out patients settings

- Act as the patients advocate - maintaining patient privacy and dignity
- Provide advice, support and education to patients/significant others
- Provide advice and support to junior staff and learners

There will be a requirement to work weekends and Bank Holidays on a rota basis.
Main duties of the job
We are ideally looking for an experienced Registered Nurse with demonstrable post registration experience with acute and/or Oncology/Haematology experience, who will thrive in our bespoke assessment unit .
We are in search of driven, compassionate and forward thinking nurses to join our team to support the cancer patient journey when they become unwell as a result of their treatment.
You must be adaptable, able to thrive under pressure, a great team player, be able to empathise and to remain professional and positive during challenging situations.
The role entails telephone triaging, assessing, planning and implementing care to acutely unwell patients. We have a 24hr triage line where patients undergoing treatments for their cancer diagnosis can call the line for advice and assessment. For the most, our patients will attend CTAU for a period of a few hours then are discharged home with a plan, some patients will be admitted directly to one of our cancer wards.
CTAU is open 7 days a week currently 7:30 am- 8 pm week days and 8am - 6pm weekends and BH (weekend and BH hours may change to make the week days in the future).
Winter hours are staggered and extended from 08.30 am - 9pm due to higher activity.

Job summary
We are looking for an individual with broad adult nurse experience as a Registered Nurse, a positive outlook and a passion for driving services forward. Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 role on Ward 205 within Trauma and Orthopaedics.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our management team, who possesses excellent communication and leadership skills, and promotes excellent quality of care, whilst supporting junior staff on the ward to do the same. The role will entail working weekends, bank holidays and nights to provide unit bleep cover.
The ideal applicant will have demonstrable experience within Trauma and Orthopaedics and ideally have experience working with hip fracture and dementia patients and complex discharge planning.
The successful applicant will show evidence of service improvement or innovation
You will have the full support of the management team and your peers, enabling you to succeed in this role.
Main duties of the job
The majority of your role will be clinical, and you will be a clinical lead on the ward supporting and mentoring junior members of the team with your experience and knowledge.
The job will also entail all aspects of people/staff management, for example, ensuring staff wellbeing, completing appraisals, dealing with conflict and more.
You will be expected to complete, audits, rosters, reports, attend meetings and liaise with all members of the MDT as well as many other tasks.
