Job summary
Would you like the challenge of working in a busy forward thinking Outpatients department, The Outpatient's department at Queens Hospital supports a wide range of specialities including Gynaecology, ENT, General Surgery and all types of Medical clinics.
We offer the opportunity to participate in all the clinic specialities and encourage staff to learn new skills. The clinics themselves offer many different interventions and procedures and the department has a complete colposcopy suite which runs procedure clinics daily.
We need a candidate who is willing to learn and keen to develop their career in an outpatients setting and in return the successful candidate would be supported in their career development in each area of the specialities we facilitate and would also have the opportunity to participate in our interventional clinics
Main duties of the job
This role would ideally suit a Staff Nurse who can support a range of clinical specialties, contributing to the delivery of an effective, efficient and responsive outpatient service.
You will have excellent communication skills and a flexible attitude which will assist you in managing numerous issues pertaining to patients, their safe and efficient journey through the department as well as liaising with Multi-disciplinary Teams.
You must be committed to delivering high quality of care and be able to work as part of a team. The ability to prioritise your workload and liaise confidently with staff from all disciplines is essential.
You should have evidence of relevant ongoing professional development and possess or be willing to work towards an appropriate degree.

Job summary
This is a 12 month fixed term Teaching Fellow post for the Derbyshire Children's hospital based at the Royal Derbyfrom February 2027 until February 2028, supporting Provision of a Paediatric Urgent and Emergency Care service for Derbyshire & the surrounding areas.
As this role will involve teaching junior colleagues on specialty specific topics and NHS systems, candidates are required to have a minimum of 12 months' clinical experience as a doctor in a UK NHS setting
Any applicant unable for personal reasons to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed; modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Associate Director, but the out of hours commitment is fixed.
Main duties of the job
Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of the Paediatric Service with regard to Emergency and Neonatal intensive care
To support the senior decision making in the Children's Emergency Department and on the General Paediatric Wards
Teaching & training of junior staff and medical students
To actively participate in both departmental & Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance & audit.
To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 MRI Radiographer to support the MRI service at UHDB. We operate 11 MRI scanners; 9 x1.5T, a 3T and a 0.4T, undertaking a wide range of complex and non complex diagnostic examinations including cardiac MRI.
The post holder will join our large and friendly team, and quickly become an integral part of our service. We operate 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, with an on call service at Royal Derby Hospital.
You will have a BSc degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent and have current registration with the Health and Professions Council (HCPC).
Main duties of the job

To provide a high quality and efficient MRI service for the Trust .

To work as part of a professional radiography team providing an excellent diagnostic service.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our growing Diabetes Team to work on our Diabetic ward (Ward 216) and in our Diabetic Foot clinic. Based at Royal Derby Hospital you will work within the diabetes team supporting our multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide individualised, holistic care in a safe and caring environment. This will be within the Diabetic foot clinic and the diabetic ward. You will be expected to work as part of our 27 bedded inpatient ward and have all the responsibilities of a general adult nurse within our medicine division and also be part of our diabetic foot clinic team. Collaborating and sharing information within the Diabetes team, UHDB team and where necessary with our Community Partners. Main duties of the job

The Derby/Burton Breast Unit is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Imaging Department Assistant to join the Breast Service hosted by UHDB (University Hospitals of Derby and Burton) to work across all sites.
The Imaging Department Assistant role is at the foundation of our ability to make the difference to our patients. Importantly they provide the cement that binds our Imaging Services together, across our dynamic and expanding department. They are often the first point of contact for our patients, this may be face to face or by telephone. Good communication skills are essential.
The successful candidate will work alongside our multi-professional team assisting in clinics and providing support in clinic for our diagnostic and surgical consultants in ultrasound and clinical outpatient rooms.
Main duties of the job
We are a progressive forward-thinking department with a positive approach at meeting and delivering the current challenges of the NHS. You would join a team within the Breast Services.
- Assist with the running of clinics ensuring patients flow through the clinics in an organised and efficient manner.- Provide chaperone duties for clinical examinations.- Ensure clinic paperwork has been correctly filled in and filed in the patient record.- Ensure clinic rooms are correctly stocked.- Provide patients with Breast Care leaflets and ordering of leaflets required.
The Imaging Department Assistant would join a team of Breast Service staff and Radiographers to provide symptomatic clinics and a screening service as part of the NBSS (National Breast Screening Service).
In addition to the above duties-
- Assist clinicians when they are performing biopsies, ultrasound, drainages and other procedures as required when working at Royal Derby Hospital/Queens Hospital Burton- Breast Care Units.

Main duties of the job
Responsibilities of this role cover a wide range of administration and clerical duties including waiting list management, appointment scheduling, RTT pathways and answering telephone queries therefore a flexible approach to workload is required.
Applicants must be confident communicators with the ability to liaise with clinicians, clinical staff and patients. Essential qualities include strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. Flexibility is essential to the post in order to meet the service needs.
Knowledge of the 18 week referral to treatment policy and standards would also be advantageous. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and also with minimal supervision. Full training will be given to the right candidate on all hospital based IT systems along with a structured induction.

We are looking for a Medical Oncologist that have particular interests in Breast and Gynaecology but are open to discussions around these and other tumour sites, knowing flexibility is important.
The posts are based at the Royal Derby Hospital with work at Queens Hospital Burton which provide Cancer Services for the population of Southern Derbyshire and South East Staffordshire.
The Cancer Business Unit is proud to offer high quality clinical care within flexible and sustainable job plan structures. We positively encourage part time working and are happy to recruit less than full time candidates to complement our existing medical team. If your preference is for less than full time hours, we have a number of potential job plans including a one tumour site 6 PA post working either 4 days per week or 5 days per week. Main duties of the job
The appointee will be responsible for:
- Provision of a comprehensive service in Oncology with consultant colleagues, including new patient and follow-up clinics at Derby and Burton. The Department also undertakes a variety of joint clinics with other specialties.
- Provision of emergency cover and reciprocal cover for your consultant colleagues during reasonable periods of leave, on a shared basis. This will include care of patients and supervision of doctors in training.
- The care of patients in his/her charge and for the proper functioning of the Department
- Undertaking teaching/training duties as required and actively participating in the postgraduate and undergraduate teaching programmes
- Participating in clinical and medical audit and actively contributing in bothdepartmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance
- Actively participating in continuing medical education (CME)

Job summary
We are seeking a Specialty Doctor, who together with 94 Consultant Anaesthetists, 13 Associate Specialists, 33 existing Specialty Doctors and 42 Specialty Trainees will provide a comprehensive anaesthetic service.
This post is based at Queen's hospital with the opportunity to rotate to Royal Derby Hospital by mutual agreement. We are able to support doctors aiming to progress via a CESR route.
The position will comprise of between 10 programmed activities on average per week and there are 3.2 additional PAs available with this post (on joining the on-call rota). These posts offer a variety of interests including, theatre work, obstetric anaesthesia, intensive care and resident on call duties. A willingness to work flexibly is essential. The Specialty Doctors are co-ordinated by a dedicated Consultant and the Trust has also appointed a Tutor to specifically support the educational and developmental needs of the Specialty Doctor group in all specialties.
Main duties of the job
Queen's Hospital Burton has a main theatre suite with 5 operating theatres and an 8 bedded recovery. Most surgical specialties (with the exception of orthopaedics) theatre lists take place here. There is adjacent elective admissions lounge where the majority of patients arrive prior to theatre. There is a specific orthopaedic theatre complex with a trauma theatre and a stand-alone (but on site) Treatment Centre, with 6 operating theatres. The majority of cases anticipated to be day cases are operated on here, including the vast majority of ophthalmic cases. In June 2020 two dedicated Orthopaedics theatres were opened adjacent to the Treatment Centre with a 28 bedded ward.
Following a £5 million investment Queens Hospital Burton now has a new fully refurbished Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The Unit has been expanded from 10 to 14 beds (funded for up to 8 Level 3 patients) that also include isolation rooms to treat and rehabilitate acutely unwell patients. The department is supported by experienced and passionate medical, clinical, and non-clinical teams.

The Endoscopy department at University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust currently have 3 endoscopy units across 3 of our sites:
- Royal Derby Hospital - 7 Rooms
- Queens Hospital Burton - 3 rooms

And delivery over 30,000 procedures annually, all sites are currently JAG accredited.
We have a dedicated Clinical Lead for endoscopy along with a Clinical training lead.
Endoscopy at RDH perform ERCP, EUS, capsule endoscopy and complex EMR procedures. We have a dedicated ERCP procedure room, provide an emergency inpatient endoscopy list 365 days a year and have a dedicated endoscopy nurse on call rota
Main duties of the job
These exciting newly appointed roles will include back filling cancelled endoscopy sessions (5 per week along with 2 training sessions) but we will also encourage specialised training for endoscopic procedures such as complicated EMRs and EUS.
The University Hospitals of Derby & Burton Gastroenterology department have:
- 15 Luminal Consultants
- 6 Hepatology Consultants
- Our surgical colleagues' also support the unit:
- 10 Colorectal surgeons
- 9 Upper GI surgeons
- 10 Consultant surgeons at QHB

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Fixed term Locum Stroke consultants as part of a planned expansion of the team based at Royal Derby Hospital.
Forward-thinking and innovative, the team is recognised as a Primary Stroke centre with a strong research emphasis. We provide a full range of patient-focused services, including hyper-acute & acute stroke care, inpatient rehabilitation and early supported discharge. We also deliver a comprehensive TIA service.
Working closely with colleagues across the Trust within radiology, neurology, vascular surgery and critical care, we aim for the highest standards of patient care across both sites.
We have the flexibility to provide a bespoke job plan that encompasses your academic, teaching or research interests.
We can also offer an annualised job plan, LTFT, relocation and incentive packages.
Main duties of the job
The Stroke Centre provides Stroke & TIA services for University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. The geographical area served is wide and the population diverse. We currently treat around 1400 stroke patients per year.
There are currently 13 stroke specialist consultants within the Centre, supported by a team of resident doctors in training grades, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and a well established multidisciplinary team of stroke specific allied health professionals. Our core clinical team is enhanced by a dedicated Neuroradiology team, and a nationally recognised Vascular Radiology service. The regional vascular surgery unit is co-located with the Stroke Centre; the neurovascular MDT provides rapid access to carotid surgery enabling surgical treatment of carotid lesions within 2 weeks of symptom onset. TIA clinics run daily with 6 days a week with access to vascular imaging and relevant neuroradiology.

- Completing ward top ups and expiry dating.

We are delighted to offer an exciting Band 7 Lead Practitioner opportunity within the Surgical Theatre Suite at Royal Derby Hospital. We are seeking a professional and experienced individual to support the development and delivery of our surgical theatre service.
Our Surgical Theatre Suite provides care across a range of specialties, including ENT, OMF, Vascular Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Urology, Colorectal Surgery, Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery and Emergency Surgery.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role within the multidisciplinary team, contributing clinically and operationally. The department comprises 10 theatres, including a state-of-the-art Vascular/Radiology Hybrid Theatre, a dedicated Robotic Theatre and a 24-hour emergency service.
Applicants should possess experience within a surgical theatre environment and demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. As a senior leader, you will provide visible and enthusiastic leadership, fostering a positive team culture while driving high standards of patient care, safety and service delivery.
You will have the ability to inspire and lead theatre teams, support staff development, manage challenges effectively and contribute to the strategic development of the service. Main duties of the job
The post holder will work in partnership with the Theatre Manager to provide effective leadership, operational management and professional oversight of the Surgical Theatre Suite, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
The role will involve managing operational demands, resolving service issues and working with multidisciplinary teams to optimise theatre utilisation and service efficiency. The post holder will be responsible for departmental budget management, working closely with the Finance Team to ensure effective financial governance.

Through the analysis of audit findings, performance metrics and quality indicators, the successful candidate will lead the implementation of evidence-based improvements, ensuring practice is embedded and sustained.
