Job summary
We are looking for Registered Operating Department Practitioners or Nurse Theatre Practitioners to join our Orthopaedic Theatre team at the Queens Hospital . Preferably with Orthopaedic experience, but not essential as training will be given.
Within the 15 theatre at Queens Hospital Burton, there are 5 operating theatres offering elective and emeregncy orthopaedic trauma work
The successful candidates will become integral to the multidisciplinary team in a busy and supportive environment, and will be able to confidently assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
If you are passionate about shaping and developing the patient care of the future and excited about working within a fast-moving, forward-thinking environment, then this would be the ideal position for you. We welcome applications from all motivated and dedicated individuals.
We offer yearly mandatory training, in-house training and have a brilliant Clinical Education Team . Other training can also be arranged at the manager's discretion.
Main duties of the job
The role requires the individual to work within our multidisciplinary team providing high quality, individualised, perioperative patient care within the remit of Trust policies and procedures, with an opportunity to develop and extend skills across a variety of orthopaedic surgery specialities.
The post holder is expected to maintain their professional/essential development within the scope of their individual appraisal and according to service needs.
The department also facilitates a wide variety of learners and there is a desirability for the post holder to support/mentor them as appropriate.
Our Orthopaedic Theatre department covers a wide variety of exciting opportunities for a motivated, compassionate, and professional theatre practitioner to provide high quality patient care whilst working as part of our multidisciplinary team.
There is an on call, weekend and Bank Holiday commitment as part of the out of hours emergency team which includes maternity and emergency services.Closing date of applications: 7th October 2026Interview date: 21st October 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Therapy Reception Team at Queen's Hospital, Burton-on-Trent. This is a permanent position working Part-time at 26.5 hours per week, Monday through to Friday. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our small but dedicated reception team. The successful candidate will have administrative, customer services or reception experience, excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to customer/patient care and a flexible approach to working.

- Good level of education and have experience in Administration and Clerical duties with good keyboard skills.
- Ability to work in a calm, logical and methodical way but be able to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions.

- Experience of working on in a busy reception environment.
- Ability to exercise initiative and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism whilst being aware of confidentiality and integrity.
- Ability to remain calm and work well under pressure, whilst having the ability to carry out a wide variety of tasks.
Main duties of the job
As an Outpatient Receptionist your main responsibilities will be to provide a friendly, welcoming and professional first point of contact, on the telephone and in person, to patients and a range of health care professionals. Reception duties will be complex and varied.
They include welcoming and booking patients into clinics, booking appointments, dealing with enquiries, input data on to Trust computer systems as well as other clerical duties required to support the efficient and effective running of the Therapies department. Full training will be provided.
This is a part-time post working 26.5 hours per week on a rota basis. The successful post holder will be expected to cover colleagues in times of sickness and annual leave.

We are seeking a highly organised and motivated Medical Secretary Pathway Coordinator to join our Diabetes & Endocrinology Secretarial Team at Queens Hospital, Burton. The Ophthalmology Department is based in the Treatment Centre at Burton for both out patients and day case procedures. We also provide a range of consultant outreach services in local community settings.

This is a 2 year fixed term contract appointment to support the Imaging services across UHDB. The post is based at the UHDB, mainly split between two major sites with acute care facilities (RDH and QHB). Any extension past the initial 2 years would require the post holder to be working towards Portfolio Pathway submission, for entry onto the GMC Specialist Register.
We are looking to appoint a Locum General Consultant Radiologist with sub speciality interest in Breast Imaging The appointed candidate will work with a team of established specialist radiologists providing diagnostic imaging expertise in Radiology.
The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust have 50 + Consultant Radiologists (part and full time). In addition, we have 18 Speciality Registrars on rotation from Nottingham and Leicester. The appointed consultant is expected to cover general reporting in addition to their sub-speciality work.
The on-call work will be supported by a large cross site team of 12 reporting radiographers reporting plain film and MSK MRI. Also 3 consultant Radiographers, 1 of which is a Breast consultant Radiographer.
Main duties of the job
The post attracts 10 PAs (8.5 DCC + 1.5 SPA) but we would be happy to consider part time working arrangements.
The Breast Service at is a large, integrated, cross-site unit delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across both symptomatic and screening pathways. The service mainly operates from the Royal Derby Hospital (RDH) and Queen's Hospital Burton (QHB), which merged breast services in 2017 to form a unified multidisciplinary offering that supports a population spanning Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
In addition, we operate a static screening site at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital and our three mobile units are rotated across the region. In total we have 10 mammography machines (GE and Hologic) and 4 US (GE and Samsung) machines.
We provide the full spectrum of breast imaging and diagnostic services, including symptomatic one-stop clinics, screening assessments, image-guided biopsy, pre-operative localisation, MRI, CESM, MDT participation, and interval cancer review.
The service is supported by an extensive, experienced multidisciplinary team comprising Consultant Breast Radiologists, Consultant Surgeons, Oncologists, Pathologists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, one Consultant radiographer, Breast Care Nurses, IDAs, and a strong administrative workforce. s.
UHDB has a large cross site wider imaging department employing over 680 staff offering all imaging modalities over numerous sites. Our equipment portfolio supports modern up to date scanners.

Job summary
The Anaesthetics Department co-ordinates the provision of a comprehensive anaesthetic service and the recent expansion of surgical services has seen a rapid increase in the size of the department, with several new Consultant Anaesthetists and Specialty Doctors being appointed in the last 3 years.
The appointee will be supervised by a team of consultants providing anaesthetic support to a wide range of surgical specialties.
UHDB provides services for Trauma and Orthopaedics, ENT, Faciomaxillary Surgery, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Urological Surgery, and Ophthalmic Surgery. There are 35 operating theatres including a busy purpose-built day case surgery department (Kings Treatment Centre). There is a 16-bedded level 2/3 Intensive Care Unit at the RDH site and a 16-bedded post-surgical step-down unit.
Consultants take an active interest in the education and training of junior staff. The examination record of the department is excellent, and Specialty Doctors are supported in their efforts to take exams.

This is an opportunity to work for an internationally renowned Centre of Excellence for Parkinson's Care, multi-disciplinary team.
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for assessment and rehabilitation treatment of patients with Parkinson's and related Atypical Parkinson's conditions. These patients will have complex physical and non-motor difficulties along with Psychological impact on their condition.

Job summary
The post holder is required to provide a clerical service within the Treatment Centre, ensuring that the professional and caring image of the Trust is maintained at all times.
The post will involve a combination of patient contact (face to face and on the telephone), consultant and staff enquiries and a range of clerical duties intended to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Treatment Centre Administration Department.

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 CT Specialist Radiographer for CT at UHDB.
This is an opportunity for anyone who wishes to join our large and friendly team. We expect the post holder to already possess excellent patient care skills and be ready and willing to work within the complex modality of CT whilst continuously learning and supporting our team.
This vacancy will allow the successful candidates to work at all of our UHDB (University hospitals of Derby and Burton) sites. This post will be based at the Royal Derby Hospital and include rotation to some / all of our Sites, including Queens Hospital Burton, Sir Robert Peel at Tamworth, Ilkeston Community Hospital and Florence Nightingale Community Hospital.
Main duties of the job
We provide CT scans using state of the art GE CT scanners covering a wide range of diagnostic examinations including CTCs and Cardiac.
The post holder will join our large and friendly team, and quickly become an integral part of our expanding service. The CT services are operational 7 days a week.
The post holder will be expected to take part in out-of-hours work including on-call.

DME at UHDB has developed and expanded considerably over the past 5 years. At the Royal Derby Hospital site there are 16 Consultants and 4 Acute Inpatient Geriatric Wards and at Queen's Hospital, Burton we have 3 Consultants and 2 Acute Inpatient Geriatric Wards.
Main duties of the job
The Derby based Parkinson's Team was awarded a National Parkinson Foundation Centre of Excellence status by the NPF in 2011 and following four yearly reviews is accredited until 2026 and is one of only two such centres in the UK. Our nationally recognized multidisciplinary movement disorder clinic is led by Dr Skelly and we are seeking to develop the service at Burton and we have a dedicated Senior Clinical Fellow for Parkinson's Disease.
The Department's Academic Representative representative is Dr Jemima Collins. Dr Collins' appointment aims to enhance the department's participation in the area of research.
The Burton based team provide specialist clinics in falls, fracture prevention, syncope and orthogeriatrics.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant in Clinical Haematology, to join our friendly and enthusiastic team at UHDB on a 12 month fixed term contract.
In-patient therapies are provided on a dedicated, 18 bedded, haematology ward, providing BSH level 2b care, including induction treatment and salvage therapies for AMLs and high-grade lymphomas. We have our own Acute Unit for unwell patients (CTAU) run by advanced clinical practitioners with medical supervision and shared with Oncology.
Our department currently accommodates 5 specialist Registrars from the East Midlands Deanery and 3 specialty Doctors. We have also an established teaching program for medical students from the University of Nottingham and overseas.
The appointee will have the opportunity to shape the future of the service. This is an exciting time in the evolution of haematology care at UHDB and we would be pleased to hear from any candidate wishing to consider this role and discuss ours and their vision for this.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join the myeloma service at UHDB, be actively involved in service development through innovation, restructure and expansion of clinical trials and access to novel therapies.
This is a full-time post based at the Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital Burton, but any candidate who wishes to work less than full time will be considered and supported, taking into account service needs. Due to the Trust being a merged organisation there is a requirement to work across other sites.

Main duties of the job
We are currently looking to recruit a myeloma/myeloid consultant to join the team. This is a full-time post based at the Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital Burton but any candidate who wishes to work less than full time will be considered and supported, taking into account service needs. Due to the Trust being a merged organisation there is a requirement to work across other sites.
The successful applicant will, together with consultant colleagues, be responsible for providing a comprehensive service in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology across Southern Derbyshire and South East Staffordshire, and will play an active part in decision making regarding the re-configuration of services in the Region.
The successful candidate will be actively involved in service development through innovation, restructuring and expansion of clinical trials and access to novel therapies.

Job summary
Applications are invited for a second Breast Consultant Radiographer post to work with Breast Radiotherapy patients within UHDB (University Hospitals of Derby and Burton).
The postholder will be expected to undertake a training programme to develop into an independent consultant practitioner delivering a comprehensive radiotherapy service to breast patients within the defined scope of practice.
The postholder will provide expert clinical practice, advice and support across the radiotherapy pathway, from referral to treatment delivery and follow up.

To provide a comprehensive therapeutic radiographer consultant service for cancer patients requiring breast radiotherapy, improving service delivery to patients undergoing radiotherapy, optimising the use of existing resources and developing services
To manage their own complex patient caseload accepting referrals from the Consultant Clinical Oncologists or multidisciplinary team. This will involve providing clinics for the clinical assessment and review of patients that are for consideration of breast radiotherapy
To contour, approve and prescribe Radiotherapy in accordance with clinical protocols
To undertake informed consent within the boundaries of department protocol
To review patients undergoing external beam radiotherapy and advise and manage acute radiation induced toxicity
To undertake independent or dependant prescribing or administration of medication using Trust protocols and in accordance with current legislation

This post will involve direct supervision of HCSA staff within the preparation laboratoryof the Cytology Department. The Laboratory is fully committed to service development and transformation and the HCSA supervisors are expected to steer this process and assist in the introduction of new work streams as necessary.
Derby Cytology is one of 8 laboratories in England responsible for delivering the NHS Cervical Screening Programme using a molecular high risk HPV test. Therefore an understanding of the principles and practice of the NHSCSP and an awareness of molecular testing would be expected.
Main duties of the job
You should have an interest in science, be self-confident and motivated. You must possess a wide range of skills demonstrating good numeracy and literacy, a high standard of verbal and written English, keyboard data entry skills and attention to detail is essential.
Applicants must be educated to at least NVQ level 3 or equivalent and have demonstrable experience working in a Pathology Laboratory. Significant understanding of delivering the NHSCSP high Risk HPV service is required. GCSE English Grade C or above is essential and Biology & Maths GCSE grade C or above would be beneficial. The successful candidate will be given full training opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills and participate in the management of the department.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic and innovative nurses to join our very dynamic and friendly team based in the Urology department at Queens Hospital Burton on Trent. To apply for this post, you should ideally have previous experience in Urology nursing.
As a specialist nurse you will possess the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, supporting the care of Uro/oncology patients across the trust and liaising with primary care colleagues. You will work closely with other members of the specialist multidisciplinary team and therefore require excellent communication skills.
You will be expected to participate in the MDT meetings and develop your skills and knowledge to assist in the management of patients attending for various Uro/oncology appointments including Local anaesthetic prostate biopsy, Triage of Urology patients and ordering the relevant investigations for patients. As a triage nurse you will work as part of a team managing the patients from referral through to diagnosis.
Main duties of the job
o To facilitate a faster diagnosis for patients on a 28-day pathway and provide care and support for patients on suspected cancer pathway.
o Triage patients referred onto the suspected cancer pathway
o Support faster diagnosis and improve outcomes for patients with suspected cancer by organising appropriate investigations
o Review and action on results of investigations, within the post holders' scope of practice
o Improve patient experience by ensuring effective communication and being a point of contact within the CNS team
o Escalate concerns or results to senior colleagues that are outside the nurses' current scope of practice
o To be responsible in ensuring that telephone clinics run in a timely fashion and that all patients are contacted that are listed for clinical review

We are a busy, friendly clinical service specialising in hand and upper-limb conditions and injuries. Job summary
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse in the Surgical Assessment Unit at the Royal Derby Hospital.
SAU is a 24 bedded ward caring for inpatients with a 6 bedded assessment/triage area, for assessment of emergency patients of referrals from the emergency, department, GP and other sources. In addition SAU staff work in the Surgical Same Day emergency care department, currently located opposite the SAU. SAU care for patients on multiple General Surgical, Urology and Vascular pathways. In addition the role involves carrying the surgical bleep phone, overseeing the SAU and the surgical wards as a whole.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated leader who wants to develop in their career. You will work alongside the existing ward team ensuring high standards of care are maintained.
The successful individual will assist the Ward Manager to provide effective and visible leadership and will be expected to drive the unit forward.
Applicants must hold a current NMC registration, and have demonstrable post registration experience with band 5 experience within a emergency Surgical Nursing setting.

The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, be dynamic and strive for excellence in all aspects of the role. They will need to act as a role model and maintain and uphold high standards of professional behaviour.
The successful applicant will take responsibility for the day to day ward environment. Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible, and motivated individual to join our Endoscopy administration team in a Pathway Co-ordinator role.
You should be educated to a good standard of English to GCSE or equivalent and have an advanced level of IT literacy with experience of using a range of IT applications.
To provide an efficient Endoscopy waiting list service to the consultants and their teams working flexibly with or alongside waiting list staff, consultants and other teams as required. Covering the reception area will also be part of this role on occasion.
You must have read the contents of the Job Description and feel confident that you are able to fulfil the requirements.
There is one post available:
Permanent role 22.5 hrs per week.
Main duties of the job
- To act as the point of contact for patients and medical staff on behalf of the consultant and his/her team ensuring that all queries are resolved with skill, sensitivity and in a courteous andprofessional manner.
- Responsible for the monitoring / selection of future waiting list patients.
- An understanding of the 18-week RTT process and a knowledge of the Trust Patient Access Policy and an agreement to adhered to these policies according to National Trust Guidelines.
- Input patient information onto the various IT systems.
- Prepare and print daily waiting lists as appropriate.
- Contact patients to arrange appointment dates in accordance with the Trust's Booking Policy.
- Ensure that waiting lists are compiled with the appropriate case mix following the booking rules
- Prepare and send out (with minimum delay) notification letters to those patients selected for inpatient or outpatient appointment, notifying patients by telephone when necessary.
- Ensure that notes and results are prepared and available prior to the patient episode or admission.
- Liaise effectively with wards and departments within the hospital.
- To escalate any urgent problems to a senior manager.
- Undertake necessary training as and when required by the Trust.

Job summary
The UHDB (University Hospitals of Derby and Burton)Anaesthetics and Theatres Business Unit is pleased to be able to offer a permanent position as a Theatre Matron/ Manager to join the current team of theatre matrons, expanding to oversee pre operative assessment.
The successful candidate will have significant experience and knowledge of working clinically in an operating theatre environment as well as managing large teams and budgets. They should be passionate about delivering high quality patient care, supporting well being and job satisfaction in our teams and effective utilisation of resources.
The successful candidate must be either a Senior Registered Nurse or ODP. They will possess excellent communication skills and a strong leadership background. They will have demonstrable record of effecting change in a busy and dynamic environment.
Main duties of the job
This role is accountable through their teams for :
- Ensuring that all staff in areas of responsibility practice in accordance with statutory and corporate policies, including those specific to operating departments including relevant day case wards and recovery services.
- Overseeing and monitoring the quality and timeliness of patient care in accordance with relevant professional standards
- Ensuring that the environments in which patients receive care and treatment are fit for purpose, clean, well ordered and maintained.
