Work with the teams to attain and maintain a CQC rating of Good or Outstanding
You will play an important role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care and maintaining professional standards within the theatre setting. This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate, forward-thinking clinician who is ready to be part of a skilled team, with a family atmosphere.
Key recommendations to ensure safe surgical practice
The role of the theatre scrub/recovery/anaesthetic practitioner should be undertaken by someone who has successfully completed a validated university programme of study that meets the nationally recognised standards underpinning the knowledge and skills required for the role
Theatre Scrub/Recovery/Anaesthetic Practitioners must ensure that they have appropriate indemnity cover
The Theatre Scrub/Recovery/Anaesthetic Practitioner scope of practice may be extended in line with service need
The Theatre Scrub/Recovery/Anaesthetic Practitioner s name and designation must be recorded within the perioperative documentation.
The practitioner acting as Scrub Practitioner must be focused upon the management of the intraoperative care required by the patient and therefore must not assume the additional duties such as that of the SFA.
In the event, that an employer considers that a dual role is required in minor surgery, then this must only be undertaken by a registered practitioner and the decision should be endorsed by a policy that fully supports this practice and should also be based on a risk assessment of each situation to ensure patient safety.
The policy and risk assessment should identify the skills, knowledge and competencies required and the category of surgery and situations for which the employing organisation determines the dual role as acceptable. If this is not in place, as part of an effective clinical governance framework, then scrub practitioners must NOT undertake SFA duties in a dual role.
Personal/Professional Development

Job summary
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Job Title: Research Sister / Charge Nurse
Contract Type: Permanent
Please be advised that this vacancy may close earlier than stated if we receive a large number of applications.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Research Nurse with vaccination competencies to join the Southampton Research Hub Team. The team forms part of the NIHR Commercial Research Delivery Centre - Wessex (CRDC) and the NIHR Southampton Clinical Research Facility (CRF).
Research nursing offers a rewarding, patient-centred career where you can directly contribute to improving healthcare outcomes. We are committed to ensuring that research is considered as a treatment option for eligible participants, including healthy volunteers, and work closely with clinical teams to embed research opportunities within patient pathways.
The Southampton Research Hub Team delivers research across multiple locations. We are based within the Clinical Research Facility at University Hospital Southampton and the Southampton Research Hub at Shirley Health Centre. We also work collaboratively with colleagues across our regional research hubs in Weymouth, Portsmouth and Bournemouth, with occasional travel required to support study delivery.
About us
As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated 'Good' by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.
We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 30% lower than London and 17 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.
We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

Band 6 Community Dietitian Nutrition Support
Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS FT View all jobs
Posted 15 day(s) ago
Reference: 820-8238907-ASR
Job summary
Are you passionate about nutrition support and keen to extend your skills in managing complex patients? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced dietitian to join our friendly community nutrition support team.
Our Band 6s provide specialist assessment & intervention for community patients requiring home enteral feeding and/or complex oral nutrition support, acting as a resource for junior staff and other health professionals in the management of undernutrition across Birmingham.
We are seeking dietitians with some experience of nutrition support, with excellent communication and time management skills, and a patient-centred and solution-focused professional practice.
We offer a flexible working environment in a supportive team, with the opportunity to build fulfilling relationships with your patients and colleagues.
Main duties of the job
You will manage a caseload of home enteral feeding and complex oral nutrition support patients in your own defined geographical area in Birmingham - this includes visiting patients in their own homes and care homes, and carrying out community clinics via telephone or in health centres around the city. We try to arrange this practically to avoid excessive travel time for our team members.
After a comprehensive induction you will have a high degree of autonomy in managing your caseload but we are a welcoming supportive team - there is always someone available to message or call, and we meet regularly face to face for clinical supervision and service development.
You will give clinical supervision to our Band 4 and 5s, who see the majority of our oral nutrition support patients, supporting their development by giving them graded exposure to the more complex patients on your caseload. We are also proud to provide highly rated supervision to dietetic learners and apprentices.
The most important skills and qualities for success in this role are:
