Job summary
Are you passionate about caring for others?
We are looking for a Therapy Assistant to join our Interim Team.
The Interim service was set up in 2013 and over the years has grown from a tiny team based at one desk, to a large and highly effective service supporting hundreds of patients home every year.
We support patients home under a pathway known as "ICAT", which stands for Interim Care Assessment Team. This means that we complete our own assessment of the patient's care needs using a rehab approach. Once a patient is assessed as either needing further rehab (with reablement and Intermediate Care), long term POC or will achieve independence in a week. If a long term POC is required this information is gathered through assessment & fed back to the Social Workers by the senior members of staff, to put a future plan in place for on-going support, or to continue to support the patient back to independence.
As part of our assessment we often deliver and fit equipment, assess mobility and transfers and observe patient safety and abilities in their activities of daily living.
The Interim Team play an important role in aiding flow through the hospital and limiting harm to patients that is caused by prolonged hospital stays. We are in a good position to provide short term assessment and to be able to signpost to other services if needed.
Base Location: Christchurch Hospital
Interview: 14th September
Main duties of the job
- To provide care and rehabilitation and fitting of equipment to patients discharged from UHD to enable patients to leave the acute hospital as soon as they are suitable to.
- To work in the community under the clinical supervision of the team Occupational Therapists.
- To ensure each patient contact is therapeutic and as per the care plan to ensure patients are supported through their recovery and enabled to regain their independence.
- To have a knowledge and understanding of assistive equipment, techniques and supportive services available to support our patients and their families.
- To support the Interim team with administration tasks, service improvement projects and our education and training programme
- To work over a 7 Day rota period in order to meet the demands of the service
- To support end of life patients when required
About us
UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not bereimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
UHD has active networks including Women's, DEN, Pride, EU, Pro Ability, and Armed Forces. We support Disability Confident and Armed Forces Covenant interview schemes.
AI tools may be used, but applications must honestly reflect your own skills and experience. Integrity is key to our recruitment process

This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the heart of work to support the NHS. We:
- work closely with government to agree NHS funding;
- ensure the NHS lives within its annual budget;

- support innovative programmes that improve the care and experience of NHS patients or people using NHS services;
- set out the financial and performance priorities the NHS should be delivering each year;
- report how much the NHS has spent on providing services each year;
- explore how the NHS can make the best use of its money;
- look at how spend on building or equipment can improve the care and experience of people using NHS services.
- consider how nationally we use these resources to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce inequality, improve health and support the NHS.
As a Finance Manager, you will work as the bridge between the project and programme teams in NHS England's directorates and the specialist finance teams to produce high-quality financial reporting and advice that drives value for money and improves patient care. This role will specifically focus on supporting the Vaccination and Screening directorate.
Main duties of the job
The team offers high profile, fast-paced projects. This requires adaptability, rigor and innovation and provides exciting development opportunities for those developing their careers in the NHS, health or the public sector.
Below are the types of skills and experience that we are looking for. Even if you feel you only meet some of the criteria, we encourage you to apply.
The main duties of the role will include:
- Developing and producing information to support accurate and timely monthly and annual financial performance reports for presentation at programme meetings and to feed into the Directorate's position for corporate reporting, with the information interpreted in a way that supports internal decision-making from finance and non-finance colleagues
- Producing robust and complete financial forecasting and identification of risks and opportunities for assigned budget areas
- Developing in-depth understanding of policy and operational plans and provide high quality business advice for the assigned budget areas within vaccination and screening services
- Provide financial analysis to support on value for money assessments and business case development

About us
NHS England has a wide range of statutory functions, responsibilities and regulatory powers. These are focused on supporting the wider NHS to deliver high quality care, as well as doing those things that are best done once for the whole NHS.
Our staff bring expertise across clinical, operational, commissioning, technology, data science, cyber security, software engineering, education, and commercial specialisms -- enabling us to design and deliver high-quality NHS services.
In March 2025, the Government announced that NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care will increasingly merge functions, ultimately leading to NHS England being fully integrated into the department.
If you currently work within the NHS and if successful at interview, we will initiate an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR).This retrieves key data from your current or previous NHS employer to support onboarding, including competency status, Continuous Service Dates (CSD), and annual leave entitlement. You may opt out at any stage of the process.
Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in our offices.
Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
We cannot offer visa sponsorship for any vacancies.
