We are looking for amazing people to join our team of Healthcare Assistants at our nursing and care homes in Wokingham and Burghfield Common.
Our teams provide support to older people living with dementia, and nursing care for people aged 65 and over who are living with long term health conditions. We're here to help people enjoy their later life, whether that means participating in meaningful activities, remembering their past in positive ways, or simply relaxing in our garden or exploring pursuits that matter most.
Whether you are looking to start your career in adult social care or looking for a new environment to make the most of your skills, this is a great opportunity to learn more about Optalis and what we do. If you are kind, care, and passionate about making a difference, we want to meet you!
Come have a chat with us at our Head Office in Wokingham on July 21 and 22 - if you like what you hear and you meet our requirements, we will offer an immediate interview to get you started on your journey!
We do not offer sponsorship and are unable to recruit anyone on a skilled worker visa.
Main duties of the job
We are hiring Healthcare Assistants to work full-time (44) or part-time (11-33) hours each week. Our shifts are 12 hours long with a 60 minute unpaid break and can offer 4 long days or wake nights. Our homes are located:
- Bluebell House - Wokingham RG41 2RP
- Suffolk Lodge - Wokingham RG40 1DH
- The Hollies - Burghfield Common RG7
There will be opportunities for overtime around sickness and annual leave to supplement your income.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
- Provide care and support to residents in accordance to care plans
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our residents
- Assisting with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting)
- Supporting with moving and positioning
- Assist at meal times
- Recording keeping
- Reporting changes in health and behaviour
- Communicate with residents, families, colleagues and social care professionals
- Assisting nurses with duties
Previous experience would be beneficial to help you adapt to a busy environment, but a positive attitude, compassion and a desire to get involved are crucial to what we look for in our people. Full training and support will be provided for all successful candidates, including classroom sessions at our Head Office, online learning and shadow shifts to help you deliver high quality care to the people we support.
About us
Optalis is a LATCo (Local Authority Trading Company) jointly owned by Wokingham Borough Council and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
Optalis delivers adult social care on behalf of the two local authorities. We have nearly 70 services across the WBC and RBWM boroughs, supporting adults with learning disabilities to live independently, providing dementia and nursing care for older people and offering reablement services to help people return home from hospital.
