Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Nurse to join Lamesley Ward, our female adult acute inpatient ward based at Bamburgh Clinic, St Nicholas Hospital, part of Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW).
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and compassionate Registered Nurse who is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care to individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary team dedicated to promoting recovery and achieving positive outcomes for patients.
As a Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based care, working collaboratively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues to develop and deliver individualised care plans. You will support patients through periods of acute mental ill health, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and recovery remain at the centre of care delivery.
You will need to be able to work calmly and effectively in challenging situations, make sound clinical decisions, and respond positively to changing service demands while maintaining a compassionate and recovery-focused approach. The role also involves supporting Nursing Assistants, students, and newly qualified staff, contributing to a positive learning and professional development culture within the ward team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred, evidence-based care within the inpatient service. We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse who is committed to providing safe, effective, and recovery-focused care to individuals with complex mental and physical health needs.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care in partnership with patients, carers, and other professionals. They will contribute to the development of personalised care plans, risk assessments, and interventions that promote recovery, wellbeing, and positive patient outcomes.
The role involves coordinating and delivering clinical care, ensuring high standards of nursing practice are maintained at all times. The post holder will provide support and guidance to Nursing Assistants, students, and less experienced staff, acting as a positive role model and contributing to a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a 24-hour inpatient service. The post holder will be required to work flexibly across a full shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, to meet the needs of the service and ensure the continued delivery of safe and effective patient care.
About us
We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.
NHS Employees identified as at risk of compulsory redundancy and those eligible for the NENC Re-Deployment careers hub will receive prior consideration.
In return, we offer a dynamic and rewarding working environment with opportunities for learning, development, and career progression. This role is based within a 24-hour service, and the successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly across a full shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, in order to meet the needs of the service and ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care at all times.
