Job summary
Aspen Medical Practice is seeking a Salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team. We believe excellent patient care depends on giving clinicians the time and support they need to work safely and sustainably. Our standard GP clinics include ten 15-minute face-to-face appointments, four protected follow-up telephone slots and 1 hour 10 minutes of protected administration time per session.
We care for approximately 32,000 patients and have invested in a large multidisciplinary team, dedicated administrative support and structured appointment templates to help reduce GP workload and support continuity of care. GPs work within a collaborative Duty Hub model, providing access to colleagues for advice and support throughout the day.
This is a permanent role for 4-8 sessions per week. Flexible working arrangements will be considered, although we are particularly interested in candidates who can work on Mondays and/or Wednesdays. The successful candidate will also participate in our Extended Access service through either an evening or Saturday session.
We welcome applicants with additional clinical interests and can support involvement in teaching, training, quality improvement and service development activities. As a training practice, we promote a positive culture where professional development, wellbeing and work-life balance are valued.
Benefits include six weeks' annual leave plus one week's study leave (pro rata), NHS Pension and free parking.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care services to the registered population of Aspen Medical Practice.
Working as part of a large and supportive multidisciplinary team, responsibilities will include:
- Providing routine and urgent GP consultations, including telephone consultations and home visits where appropriate.
- Assessing, diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
- Developing patient-centred management plans in line with current clinical guidance.
- Managing test results, clinical correspondence, prescriptions and other patient-related administration.
- Participating in duty doctor sessions within a structured and supportive Duty Hub model.
- Working collaboratively with pharmacists, nurses, frailty specialists, mental health practitioners, social prescribers and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Contributing to quality improvement, clinical governance and practice development activities.
- Attending practice meetings and Protected Learning Time sessions.
Our appointment model is designed to support safe and sustainable working, with standard face-to-face clinics typically comprising ten 15-minute appointments, four protected follow-up telephone slots and 1 hour 10 minutes of protected administration time per session.
About us
Aspen Medical Practice is one of the largest GP practices in Gloucestershire, caring for approximately 32,000 patients with the support of more than 140 colleagues working across a broad multidisciplinary team.
We are committed to providing excellent patient care while creating a sustainable and rewarding place to work. We have invested in multidisciplinary services, digital systems and administrative support to help ensure GPs can focus on clinical care while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Our team includes experienced GPs, pharmacists, nurses, frailty specialists, mental health practitioners, social prescribers, care coordinators and dedicated administrative teams. This approach helps ensure patients are seen by the most appropriate professional while supporting continuity of care and reducing unnecessary GP workload.
We are proud of our supportive and inclusive culture. Staff wellbeing is important to us, and benefits include six weeks' annual leave plus one week's study leave (pro rata), NHS Pension membership, free parking, monthly Protected Learning Time events and enhanced sickness allowance. We actively listen to staff feedback and use it to improve our services and working practices.

Job summary
Hereford City District Nursing Team
Due to the current post holder being successful in obtaining a place of the DN Specialist Practitioner Course at Birmingham University we are able to offer a fixed term Band 5 community nurse post.
Have you always wondered what community nursing entails? Would you like a new challenge or have you had experience on the community and wish to pursue it as a career, then this is an opportunity for you. Due to the promotion of the current post holder we have a full time Band 5 community staff nurse vacancy within City District Nursing Team. As a Community Nurse you will become highly skilled in many different areas using many extended clinical skills and where no two days are the same.
The team supports patients registered with the 2 Primary Care Networks which are co-located in the City of Herefordshire. It is a large team with a caseload of around 850 patients, this allows a higher level of support for staff new to the community, allowing supervision for competency achievement.
Our base is at Belmont and we share a large office with neighbourhood team therapists which enables excellent levels of communication regarding shared patient care and concerns.
Main duties of the job
Most of our work is with housebound patients but, we also run a District Nurse Clinic for non-housebound patients who need the very specific skills of a District Nurse to support their treatment.
The focus of District Nursing is to support patients towards self-management, enabling them to continue to live as full and productive a life as possible, through education, equipment and or lifestyle changes. We also have the privilege of supporting people and their families at the end of their lives, working in close liaison with the Hospice Teams and Specialist Palliative Care Nurses.
As community teams we enjoy working with many other health and social care professionals, Care Homes and Care Agencies. All staff are expected to record their work electronically on EMIS, our electronic patient record system which links into the GP services to allow a seamless service provision. Training and on-going support will be given to support staff with EMIS and other electronic systems they will need to use.
About us
Wye Valley NHS Trust is a member of an NHS Foundation Group with South Warwickshire NHS FT , the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust and Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
Located on the border with Wales in the shadow of the Black Mountains, we provide acute and community services across Herefordshire and into parts of Powys and run Hereford County Hospital and the community hospitals in Bromyard, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye.
