Job summary
Alliance Psychological Services and Teesside Mind work in Partnership to deliver the Impact on Teesside service which provides NHS Talking Therapies across our region. Together we provide support and services to those struggling with depression, stress, anxiety and other mental and emotional issues.
Teesside Mind are recruiting Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP) to start the course at Teesside University in January 2027, to work within our Impact on Teesside NHS Talking Therapies service. Successful candidates will need to start in role prior to the course starting to allow time to learn about Impact and have an induction. They will complete the Low Intensity Psychological therapies PGCert course during their first year within the post. Salaries for the PWP training posts will be £26,000 per annum increasing to £27,000 per annum once qualified.
Whilst this role will offer some opportunity to work remotely up to one day a week, there will be a requirement to work face-to-face in an office across Teesside, as well as attending the course on campus at Teesside University.
Trainees will be employed by Teesside Mind.

To provide a range of low intensity CBT interventions
- Provide assessment, including safety assessment, of clients referred to Impact on Teesside, involving making decisions around treatment/support pathways, as well as supporting with any signposting and onward referrals where clients may require other services, including statutory and voluntary agencies.
- Select and deliver a range of low intensity CBT interventions in collaboration with the client via a range of modalities, including telephone, face to face and group work.

To undertake the required training programme

Main duties of the job
These two posts are employed by Alliance Psychological Services however the successful candidate will work as part of the wider Tees Valley Getting Help partnership contributing to a truly collaborative & integrated model of care. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, system-wide approach helping to transform how mental health support is delivered to children & young people across the Tees Valley.
The post holder will be part of a wider team that collaboratively provides high-quality brief and evidence-based support that is sensitive to the unique needs and experiences of children & young people. The CWP will provide support to children & young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. These will include Low intensity CBT, Parent Led CBT Anxiety, The Decider Skills and Parent support for behaviour Manchester Model/Investing in Play. The CWP's duties involve a variety of tasks including assessment, intervention and collaboration with other agencies

Therapeutic practice
Deliver a range of outcome focused, low intensity CBT evidence-based interventions in educational and community settings to children, young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Therapeutic practice
Deliver a range of outcome focused, low intensity CBT evidence-based interventions in educational and community settings to children, young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
Undertake and complete psychosocial assessments including accurate safety assessment and safety planning. Supporting children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families, educators and professionals in the self-management of presenting difficulties.
Deliver 1:1 and group-based therapeutic interventions with children, young people and their families, using evidence-based approaches that promote engagement, participation and positive outcomes.
Working in partnership with children, young people, their families, and educators/professionals in the development of treatment plans.
Work in a trauma-informed way, recognising the impact of adverse experiences on presentation, engagement and outcomes, and adapting interventions to promote emotional and psychological safety.
