Job responsibilities

As a static Band 6 Physiotherapist you will be responsible for the assessment, treatment planning and rehabilitation of patients who have been diagnosed with a neurological condition or have survived a stroke.

You will be responsible for supporting the discharge planning process of such patients, via liaison with the multi-disciplinary team in the acute setting to ensure discharges are timely and effective for patients.

You will be provided with the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and also to engage in, or lead, any service development projects.

Candidates should be willing to support other team members in their development, including junior Physiotherapists, therapy assistants and students. This will include active participation in clinical supervision sessions and an in-service training rota.

This full-time post (37.5 hours per week) may require you to work weekends on a rota basis in the future. However, this post has no on-call commitment.

We will offer the following support:

Professional support will be provided by the Clinical Lead Therapist as well as the opportunity to engage in regular peer-supervision with other team members.

Person Specification

Education and Qualification

Essential

• Bachelor of Science degree/ diploma in Physiotherapy
• Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including post-graduate training relevant to specialty

Desirable

• Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
• Member of specialist interest groups relevant to specialty

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

• 18 months post graduate rotational experience as a Physiotherapist
• Experience working within stroke and/ or neurology
• Sound clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
• Good planning, prioritisation and organisational skills

Desirable

• Knowledge and experience of NHS Systems

Skills and Ability

Essential

• Proven ability to build and maintain effective multi-disciplinary relationships
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to be empathic and discuss sensitive issues
• Evidence of good leadership skills

• Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence, and acknowledge limitations.
