Job summary
St Helens North PCN is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic GP to join our Primary Care Network under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS), in line with the NHS Directed Enhanced Service (DES). This is an excellent opportunity for a GP to gain valuable experience working within an innovative, supportive, and multidisciplinary PCN environment working across the 6 practices in St Helens PCN North.
The successful applicant must be eligible for the role as per guidelines as set out in the DES.
This role is fixed term till 31st March 2028 and we would consider a less than full time application.
We are unable to accept applications from applicants who require Visa Sponsorship.
No recruitment agencies please.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join our friendly Urgent Care Hub team, working alongside one other GP and the Hub Manager. The purpose of the Urgent Care Hub (UCH) is to support the increasing demand in general practice for same day / urgent care and provide patients with increased and improved access to urgent care.
You will work in partnership with the six practices that make up the PCN, as well as with other ARRS staff and partner organisations, supporting the care of patients requiring urgent same-day appointments. You will play a key role in helping to redesign and refine how we deliver care to these patients, contributing to improved outcomes and service efficiency.
The Urgent Care Hub (UCH) which runs Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm aims to help meet the growing demand for same-day and urgent care within general practice, offering patients of the PCN enhanced and timely access to urgent medical services.
In addition to carrying out urgent hub appointments which have seasonal demand, there is an opportunity to develop or bring specific areas of expertise in / to this role. As a PCN we would have a preference for this to be supporting in ADHD service development, which is new to the PCN, or would consider alternative specialities such as cardiovascular disease, dermatology, etc.
Please refer to the job description and person specification attached for full details.

Together, we serve a combined patient population of approximately 30,000.
Our PCN prides itself on being a friendly, close-knit team driven by a strong work ethic focused on motivation, productivity, respect, and innovation. This is a new and exciting opportunity to join an expanding and diverse Primary Care Network, dedicated to improving patient care while supporting your professional development and enhancing your clinical skills.
Our mission is to provide pro-active care to patients to improve their health and wellbeing and to make a positive impact to their lives, with respect and compassion. Working in partnership with local people, health and social care, voluntary sectors, community groups and colleagues to bring communities together and helping to reduce health inequalities.
